(The Politico) Barack Obama offered a spirited defense of his presidency in an interview that aired Sunday on “60 Minutes,” framing the 2012 election as a “contrast in visions.”

Stressing that the views that got him elected in 2008 still drive him, even as many supporters voice dissatisfaction, Obama said he is still determined to change Washington and to make ordinary Americans’ lives better.

“I didn’t overpromise. And I didn’t underestimate how tough this was going to be,” Obama said in the sitdown with CBS News’s Steve Kroft that was conducted on two days this week, in Washington and also in Osawatomie, Kan., where the president on Tuesday delivered a speech calling this a “make-or-break moment” for working and middle class Americans.

Really? He promised to completely change Washington. He promised to “fundamentally transform America.” His administration promised that the Stimulus would work. He promised to “restore America’s standing in the world (which Democrats had already torn down)”. He promised to have all troops out of Iraq within 16 months. That he would close Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He promised quite a lot of things, and most Obama promises have expiration dates.

The vision he offered in 2008 was something he “always believed … was a long-term project,” Obama told Kroft. “Reversing a culture here in Washington, dominated by special interests, it was going to take more than a year, it was going to take more than two years. It was going to take more than one term.”

The vision was “hope and change”. The policy was reversing a culture that he was part of as a sitting US Senator, and made even worse when he took office. The Stimulus and health care bills, among others, were all about special interests. Special interests show up at the White House on a constant basis. He panders to special interests all the time. What he can’t do is lead.

(MSNBC) Police in riot gear clashed with protesters in Oakland in the early morning hours on Thursday, firing tear gas to disperse demonstrators lingering in the streets after a day of mostly peaceful rallies against economic inequality and police brutality.

The clash and standoff came only hours after protesters shut down the Port of Oakland late Wednesday.

The confrontation, which erupted after midnight, appeared aimed at preventing the protesters from expanding their foothold in the streets around a public plaza that has become a hub for demonstrations in the northern California city.

More than 200 officers, some of them ferried in aboard buses, lined up shoulder to shoulder and donned gas masks, then declared the crowd to be an unlawful assembly and fired volleys of tear gas as protesters turned and ran.

Heck, all they were doing was gathering peaceably…..except for that shutting down the Port of Oakland thing. Was there any reason for such a heavy handed response? Well, the accompanying photo at MSNBC should give you a clue, with an Occupier standing on something that looks turned over waving a flag in front of a bonfire in the street.

The nearly 5-hour protest at the port, the nation’s fifth-busiest shipping port, was intended to highlight a daylong “general strike” in the city, which prompted solidarity rallies in New York, Los Angeles and other cities across the nation. Some had marched from the city’s downtown, while others had been bused to the port.

There’s that commie word “solidarity” again. But, consider, they shut down a port where mostly blue collar workers were just attempting to put in a days work and earn some money to take care of themselves and their families. The Occupiers made that rather difficult.

The crowd disrupted port operations by overwhelming the area with people and blocking exits with chain-link fencing and illegally parked vehicles. The demonstrators also erected fences to block main streets to the port. No trucks were allowed into or out of the area.

Doesn’t sound particularly peaceable to me. And by not allowing trucks out, the Occutards were harming people with small businesses, who needed those products. And harming the truck drivers, who do not get paid if they aren’t delivering. So much for caring about the “99%.”

Prior to marching on the port, protesters had blocked the downtown intersection of 14th street and Broadway, where the a former Marine turned peace activist Scott Olsen was wounded on the night of October 25.

These are your folks, Obama and Pelosi: do you still stand by them? Will you call for them to keep it peaceful and stop violating the law?

As protesters left the area on foot some stopped to burn money, others bickered, and one burned an American flag.

Zachary RunningWolf, a well-known Bay Area activist, said he burned the flag “to start an educated discussion among us.”

Well, he got a discussion, one which the Oakland PD won. What better way to get people on to your side than by burning the flag of your country?

What’s missing from the article is the actual damage caused by the Occupiers. Michelle Malkin has many pictures and descriptions of the violence and destruction from the Democrat voting Occupiers, including

A big mob dressed in black is roaming around the streets. They’ve sprayed graffiti on the walls of businesses.

Wells Fargo windows have also been reportedly smashed.

Still supporting this movement, liberals? Another question is, will this be the catalyst for the nationwide violence and destruction we have all been expecting?

Before Barack Obama swore to uphold the Constitution and to protect Americans from enemies foreign and domestic, early warnings were pinging about like signals off a cell tower. Predictions: 1.) The economy would nosedive and 2.) America would have a renewed military presence in Africa before the end of Obama’s first term. What was not foreseen was the Obama administration’s fixation on “snitching.” They are for it. Obama brazenly initiated his report-on-your-neighbor, big brother initiative via a White House run “snitch website” called “flag.”

Detecting the distinctively foul objective of creating an Obama enemies list, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) took to the Senate floor to accuse Obama of attempting to shut down political opposition. Cornyn also sent Obama a letter demanding to know the intent of the White House’s snitch site where Obamatrons could routinely rat-out their neighbors who disagreed with Obama’s policies. Main targets were those in opposition to Obamacare, the socialist medical overhaul that will wreck the American economy for decades if implemented. In the face of fascist-laden, unspoken threats of reprisal, red-blooded patriots from across the nation emailed the snitch site and turned themselves in as overt acts of defiance.

Yet, Obama tried it again. With sliding ratings and talk from neighborhoods to water coolers about his failed policies and socialist agendas eroding his base, “snitching” was resurrected. Snitches are now directed to “Attack Watch.” The Obama campaign essentially put Americans on notice: Written criticism or verbally attacking Obama under your 1st Amendment right of freedom of speech is an affront to the regime and could get you reported. Again, patriots across the land mocked the site by reporting “themselves” in further defiance of the site’s intended intimidation and implied retribution.

Attempts to snuff out political dissent have a long history. Obama’s propensity for it puts him in an unsavory club of notorious politicians turned tyrants who cast fear into their opposition and ran their nation by edict or currently, in Obama’s case, by executive order. Politician-turned-tyrant occurs when the people allow the usurpation of power to go unchecked. Obama’s radical abuse of the U.S. Constitution and overriding of the legislative authority of Congress would have our founding fathers boldly decrying a tyranny in the making. Snitching coupled with President Obama wanting his own militia, as well-funded and as powerful as the U.S. military, must give all Americans pause. Weakening America’s military is a standing Socialist goal. The coup d’état is that the Obama militia and U.S. military would report to the same Commander-in-Chief. Prediction #3: Action to establish a presidential/civilian militia will be fast-tracked — should Obama and a majority of his Progressive Democrat Party be reelected in 2012.

In tandem with #3, is Prediction #4 for 2012. Informed minds know that John Kennedy entered the Vietnam War with advisors, a pattern Obama now repeats in Africa. The U.S. military can be weakened or bled-out of funding and personnel in areas of the world such as Africa, where no security threat to the U.S. currently exists. If reelected, Obama’s expansion into Africa is imminent. Having American troops in the region makes Africa a magnet for America’s enemies.

Political leaders turned tyrants, that are armed with civilian militias and legions of snitches used to subdue dissent from the people, fill the history books with names like Stalin, Mao, Hitler and others who began as benign Socialist or Marxist politicians. It is history that exposes or demands comparisons with Obama’s policies. Those tyrants started with civilian militias loyal to them and not the citizenry. Snitching or informing was first encouraged and then government mandated. For some, snitching on their neighbor meant survival for themselves and their families — for a while. In the book, Darwin’s Racists – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, pages 54-56, there is a telling account by Russian Nobel Laureate Alexander Solzhenitsyn of the brutal results of “snitching” that denied the Soviet citizenry’s’ right to criticize its government.

Prediction #5: The mainstream media will continue to ignore such threats until they realize that their rights to freedom of the press have also been overrun by government edict. Historically, it is the fate of all journalists in Socialist countries worldwide. Snitching is an equal opportunity offender. Though the Black community faces ostracizing by other Blacks if they speak negatively about the destructive policies of the first Black President, many have rejected what they call un-American activities and an assault on freedom and have also turned themselves in to “Attack Watch” in defiance and defense of their Constitutional freedoms.

A government that asks its citizens to snitch on one another cannot itself be trusted. Snitching is about controlling the opposition and eventually the entire populace. The end result is that a penalty is levied whether through suppression of speech or oppression of a people. It is divisive and ultimately dangerous, especially in the hands of leaders with delusions of grandeur or narcissistic personality disorders. Snitching is the worm that decays and weakens a society in preparation for the rot of Socialism and tyranny. Why is it again, that Obama wants Americans to snitch?

Phil Kerpen has a warning for you, America. He wants to alert you to the fact that Barack Obama is using his powers to create regulations to undermine Congress, ignore voters, and “radically transform America.” But Kerpen also has some good news. There’s a way to stop this left-wing assault on our country. You can find out what that something is in his new book, Democracy Denied: How Obama is Ignoring You and Bypassing Congress to Radically Transform America — and How to Stop Him.

For this book — his first if I am not mistaken — Kerpen, the Vice President for Policy at Americans for Prosperity, has decided no less than to save the Republic. Of course, it’s an uphill battle to beat back the war that has been launched against America for sure.

Why is it an uphill battle? Because the way our country is being torn down is happening in the most subtle way possible. Worse, it is all being done with such ersatz legality, a legitimacy so seemingly ironclad, that most Americans are completely unaware of what is happening. And when they are aware of it they imagine there is nothing wrong with it all.

That and the way this destruction is happening is not the sort of glamorous outrage that makes for exciting news coverage. In fact, it’s quite dull. After all, the way the country is being undermined is through long-winded, legalese-filled, opaque regulatory changes. Red tape. Underhanded, jargon-heavy rules, quietly implemented without fanfare or the light of day revealing them for that matter.

Like I said, Kerpen has an uphill battle not only to alert Americans to what is happening right under their very noses, but to excite them enough to do something about it.

Through the bulk of his book Kerpen outlines the way that our Americanness is being smothered in paper with the thousands of pages of new regulations that Obama is weekly churning out from his administration.

Kerpen details the way the Obama administration, guided by a hardcore, left-wing ideology, is attempting to take control of the Internet, is trying to eliminate private property rights, is destroying the business sector in favor of big labor unionization, is using the outsized fear of global warming to ramp up a socialist-styled enlargement of government control on all fronts from the EPA to our energy sector, and more. In each case, Kerpen notes that this regulatory overreach is directly contrary to our American character and our core ideals.

Kerpen also notes that this bacchanalia of regulations and the subsequent growth of the power of the president was even something that the left was exercised about during the eight years of the George W. Bush era. Unfortunately for the veracity of the left, all their concerns of an un-American growth of executive power have been wholly forgotten merely because they like the direction of the obscene overreach implemented by Obama. No end of hypocrisy there, eh?

Kerpen also points out something I’ve been saying for years. Yes, it is true that presidents have for decades been slowly stealing power from the other branches of government. But our elected representatives and senators are equally at fault for not zealously protecting their privileges. They’ve stepped aside and allowed this all to happen. Why have they done this? In my opinion, because it is the easier road traveled. After all, if they abdicate power to the president then they have less need to make tough decisions and stand for delineated positions and that makes their re-election easier!

Anyway, the final chapter gives us a roadmap to pruning these obscene powers stolen from the Congress and the people by this most leftist president in American history. But, it too has a warning. Just “doing the right thing” and voting is not enough. We must not only vote for representatives that will endeavor to take back their power to legislate from an out of control executive branch, we must follow up and force these elected officials to follow through on the charge we’ve handed them.

Seems like a good idea to me.

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich vows that his first action, were he elected president, would be to sign executive orders eliminating Barack Obama’s vast cadre of unelected Czars. With the stroke of a pen, Gingrich would strike down Obama’s politburo consisting of 39 power-laden czars that make up the president’s shadow-government that threatens America’s prosperity, freedoms and sovereignty. Gingrich’s fixation on Obama’s Czars reveals the depth of understanding of the danger they pose to America and the personal freedoms of Americans. A review of Obama’s vast array of Czars and advisers reveals a handpicked collection of self-admitted Socialists, Marxists, Environmentalists and Globalists.

Reports are that Obama’s premier Czar, Cass Sunstein, is a Regulatory Czar on steroids. Ostensibly, the 2nd most powerful man to Obama, Sunstein’s directive is to regulate every facet of American life. Whether its home, work, energy use, food consumption, education, mortgages, banking, gun control, etc. — a deluge of regulations, not already in play, are in a holding pattern to be released if Barack Obama is re-elected. The job Sunstein was hired to do was to oversee the creation and implementation of a massive web of regulations aimed at ensnaring and then controlling both the U.S. economy and its citizens. As an insight into his psyche of control, in his 2008 book, “Nudge,” Sunstein reportedly puts forth the idea of removing organs from terminally ill patients without permission. This is the man who also suggests that animals should be permitted to sue humans in court, while calling embryos “a handful of cells.”

In regard to international affairs and world governance, Obama relies on Harold Koh, Legal Advisor to the State Department, whom many view as a threat to America’s sovereignty. Koh represents the U.S. in international treaties and legal matters. Strongest criticism of Koh is regarding supplanting the U.S. Constitution with international law, that American courts should bow to international law in adjudication of some U.S. cases and that the U.S. military could be tried in global courts for war crimes. As Obama’s Socialist advocate in world matters, Koh says he is deeply committed to the “American Society of International Law.” Detractors of the left-wing, former Yale professor are called ideologues. Supporters want him to be the next Supreme Court nominee.

In an insidious form of population control to limit human impact on the environment and abort “those who contribute to social deterioration,” Obama’s handpicked Science Czar, John Holdren, wrote how government could add steralants to drinking water, preventing pregnancies. Nature-before-man environmentalists, today demand control of human populations. Holdren says he was influenced by his educational mentor, eugenicist and abortionist, Harrison Brown, who lamented, “Is there anything that can be done to prevent the long-range degeneration of human stock” for the good of society? As Obama’s hand-picked Science Czar, Holdren is the face of Obama’s abortion advocacy and the “devaluing of human life” of all Americans of all ages.

Van Jones, a reported admitted Marxist and former Green Jobs adviser who was handpicked by President Obama, was preaching race and class warfare long before he entered Obama’s inner circle of Czars. As current president of Rebuild the Dream, Van Jones is amping up his hate speech warning that: “The Progressive Fight Back is coming in October” and that “everyone should be holding onto their seats.” Could this be the beginning of the “Socialist-Progressive Spring” in America? If so, like Obama, Jones has a problem. He is the enemy within his own rhetoric. As a self-described Marxist and signatory to a letter inferring U.S. involvement in 9/11, Jones is a tough sell as a newly, self-proclaimed defender of the American middle class.

Still a confidante of White House insiders, Jones is mum when it comes to his de facto replacement, General Electric green-global-capitalist Jeffrey Immelt, who is an Obama crony and current Job’s Czar. Immelt recently shipped a division of GE’s business to China and has reportedly created more jobs overseas than in America. Did Jones or multi-millionaire-Democrats Nancy Pelosi (est. $124 mil), Harry Reid ($10 mil), John Kerry (est. $295 mil), Dianne Feinstein (est. $108 mil), Jane Harmon (est. $425 mil), Herb Kohl (est. $231 mil), Mark Warner (est. $283 mil), Hilary Clinton (est. $51 mil), among many others, including the multi-millionaire-in-chief Obama, speak out against Immelt’s actions? Wealthy Progressive-Democrat run corporations appear to get a no-comment pass as they abandon American workers to evade taxes and make their fortunes overseas. Jones appears to monitor everyone else’s backyards — but Obama’s and Obama’s millionaire Democrat cronies. Noted in the press as a player, along with Immelt, Al Gore and Barack Obama in the reported “great-green-global-energy-carbon-credit money scam,” Jones has a lot of answering to do to the community he claims to defend.

There are 39 Obama Czars working daily to implement as much of Obama’s agenda as possible. They are the ones behind the scenes who will be regulating Obamacare, housing, banking, Medicare, Social Security, energy, immigration, transportation, national security, farming and water supply among a myriad of other government services and agencies. The question to be asked at the next presidential debate is: Do Obama’s Czars keep all of the presidential candidates — and not just Gingrich — awake at night?

A tactical maneuver was in place as Barack Obama took office. It was the political version of Fast and Furious without guns, but yet a clear and present danger. Obama’s strategy, along with the Progressive-Democrat Party, was to unleash a blitzkrieg of legislation on the U.S. economy and its citizens before the opposition could grasp who and what had been voted into office. Much like a military “kill box area,” congressional authority and government agencies were sectioned off, targeted and undermined with a deluge of legislation and executive orders. The goal: Obama’s “transformation of America.” The free-enterprise economy was flooded with a strangle-hold of regulations that took over health care, corporations, housing, insurance and banking. Obama unleashed his “change” with such a fury that opponents experienced a political version of “shock and awe.” With the system overwhelmed, moderate and conservative members of Congress were blind-sided and ineffective to stop the “transformation” being thrust upon the American people.

For two years, Barack Obama had free reign as he appointed over three dozen, unelected Czars to advise him and oversee government policy and agencies. Among the Czars were admitted Socialists, Marxists and radical environmentalists seeking to “transform America” to meet Obama’s Liberal-Progressive agenda. In 2010, the American voter became wise to the destructive governmental changes that usurped their Constitutional freedoms and ravaged their pocketbooks. The conservative base of American voters abruptly woke up the GOP by voting compromising enablers out of office followed by warnings to clean house even further.

Warning number two is now in play for the GOP. With the Progressive-Democrat’s game plan unveiled and its raw corruption exposed, Congress is again on notice as the nation faces elections in 2012. Republicans must now take the offensive and formulate a blitzkrieg of policies and investigations of their own. Every GOP member of the House and Senate, in parity with their committees, must be assigned direct oversight of Obama’s Czars and department heads. Every move, every piece of legislation, every regulation and every request for funding must be tracked and brought out of the shadows and into the light. Obama’s shadow-government of Czars is embedding itself and is being paid by taxpayer dollars to sit in government offices while deconstructing America’s founding policies and principles. The Czars primary targets are free-market capitalism, Constitutional freedoms and U.S. sovereignty. The call to action and accountability by members of Congress has never been greater. Pick a czar or department head, expose their agenda and defund their fiefdoms. If Obama and a Progressive-Democrat majority are elected in 2012, expect the full fury of Obama’s Czars to be unleashed on America in 2013.

American voters need to understand that whether Obama is re-elected or replaced by Hillary Clinton, Progressive-Democrat goals are the same. Both Obama and Clinton are advocates of radical Socialist/Marxist Saul Alinsky whose goal was to radicalize then socialize America and its government. Clinton’s college thesis praised her socialist professor, Saul Alinsky. One of Alinsky’s guiding principles, to all his disciples, was that in order to gain real power and overthrow capitalism it is necessary to crush the middleclass. As a Chicago street activist, Alinsky taught that class and race warfare are the most effective ways to bring about “change.” As the race-and-class-warfare-in-chief, Obama demonstrates he learned Alinsky’s lessons well.

PS – Partial plan of action for the GOP: 1.) Block Obama’s so-called “infrastructure labor union bank” that is a replacement for Obama’s planned money-funneling, climate-change bank in Chicago that was put on-hold by the man-made global warming scandal. 2.) Rein in the unelected National Labor Relations Board that is wielding unauthorized fascist authority. 3.) Assign additional oversight teams to prevent potential election fraud and vote tampering in 2012. Fecklessly investigating voter fraud after the fact does no good. Al Franken, anyone?

Last week, when President Barack Obama spoke to the National Council of La Raza, he said something that should alarm every American. He confessed that he’d like to “bypass Congress and change the laws” on his own. He added, “Believe me; the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you.”
He doesn’t need to promise us. We believe him, because we’ve been watching his rogue behavior since the moment he entered office.

Way back in February 2010, even The New York Times unveiled his modus operandi, in its report “Obama Making Plans to Use Executive Power.” It summarized, “With much of his legislative agenda stalled in Congress, President Obama and his team are preparing an array of actions using his executive power to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities.”

As The New York Times reported at the beginning of last year, Obama’s exploits to bypass Congress are intended to “advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities.” We now can add America’s border problems to those, as Obama also elaborated last week that the temptation to bypass Congress includes “not just immigration reform.” No wonder the crowd began to chant “Yes, we can!” (Tragically, it seems that too many citizens want a Fuehrer more than they do a president.)

Las Vegas mogul, Steve Wynn, reportedly said the following about President Barack Obama:

“This is Obama’s deal and it’s Obama that’s responsible for this fear in America.” The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution. And, maybe we [the administration] ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest, they’re holding too much money. We haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody’s afraid of the government and there’s no need soft-peddling it, it’s the truth. It is the truth! And that’s true of Democratic businessmen and Republican businessmen, and I am a Democratic businessman and I support Harry Reid. I support Democrats and Republicans. And, I’m telling you that the business community in this country is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he’s gone, everybody’s going to be sitting on their thumbs.”

Is Wynn right? Is Obama a socialist threatening to “do something to businesses” if they don’t toe the Obama line? Does Obama reveal himself to be an ideologue with a Socialist/Marxist agenda? How does a country know that socialism is being forced on its people by its government? Do Obama’s policies reveal a deeply rooted problem with socialism at its core?

Allow a resubmission of a partial checklist, a jet tour of Obama and his Progressive governance. Core to socialism is “redistribution of wealth,” which is Obama’s constant mantra (check). Government leaders assume an elitist mentality and ignore the will of the majority of the people (check). The government takes control of the majority of the nation’s economy by nationalizing industries such as auto, insurance, banks and health care and attacks free enterprise (check). The president puts an anti-free-market Czar over the nation’s vital manufacturing sector who is quoted as saying… ”we know the free market is nonsense” (check). The President blurs the checks and balances between the executive and legislative branches of government (check). The President derides or circumvents the Constitution that protects the people from tyranny at the hands of the government (check). The President advocates personally invasive laws that will force compliance by citizens with the threat of fines and legal penalties (Obamacare/EPA – check). The government force-feeds laws before they are read, that allow the government to fill in the blanks without oversight after the laws go into effect — such as the reported hundreds of incomplete mandates in Obamacare and the FDA (check). The President and his czars threaten freedom of speech with an agenda to control the citizen’s use of the Internet via an empowered FCC, to shut-down opposition Radio-TV-Cable stations with massive taxation, to continue to target groups “as the enemy” that peacefully speak out against government and then direct radicals to “go get in the face” of those who dissent peacefully (check, check, check, and check).

Obama ridicules the nation’s faithful while sending his minions out to attempt to transition the very faith itself into a core element of socialism known as “social justice” as if it is a pillar of Christianity. Troubling to any free society is President Obama stating, on the record, the Socialist/Marxist dogma that the Americans can have “too much information.” Still on his agenda is what the President has long said he desires. It is what all Socialist, Communist and Fascist governments desire, a civilian militia as the enforcement arm that can kowtow citizens into compliance. Obama’s Manufacturing Czar is quoted as saying that “…we kind of agree with Mao that power comes largely from the barrel of a gun.” President Obama has clearly stated that he wants a civilian militia as well-armed, as well-funded and as powerful as our U.S. military. Why? Again, presented above is a partial list from a short two-and-a-half years of the Obama presidency

PRESIDENT OBAMA should announce that he will raise the debt ceiling unilaterally if he cannot reach a deal with Congress. Constitutionally, he would be on solid ground. Politically, he can’t lose. The public wants a deal. The threat to act unilaterally will only strengthen his bargaining power if Republicans don’t want to be frozen out; if they defy him, the public will throw their support to the president. Either way, Republicans look like the obstructionists and will pay a price.

So, the people would supposedly rally around King Barack? Hey, remember when Liberals had a problem with Bush supposedly acting in a unilateral manner?

Where would Mr. Obama get his constitutional authority to raise the debt ceiling?

Our argument is not based on some obscure provision of the 14th amendment, but on the necessities of state, and on the president’s role as the ultimate guardian of the constitutional order, charged with taking care that the laws be faithfully executed.

So, if Obama thinks it is a necessity of state that everyone drive a hybrid, could he order that? But, that provision in the 14th, not to mention many other parts of the Constitution, puts it squarely at the feet of Congress, not the president, to pass the laws. The President does not pass laws: he is Constitutionally bound to follow the laws that Congress passes, after he signs them. Section 5 of the 14th lays it out. Perhaps a liberal should read the whole thing at some point.

When Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War, he said that it was necessary to violate one law, lest all the laws but one fall into ruin. So too here: the president may need to violate the debt ceiling to prevent a catastrophe — whether a default on the debt or an enormous reduction in federal spending, which would throw the country back into recession.

A deadlocked Congress has become incapable of acting consistently; it commits to entitlements it will not reduce, appropriates funds it does not have, borrows money it cannot repay and then imposes a debt ceiling it will not raise. One of those things must give; in reality, that means that the conflicting laws will have to be reconciled by the only actor who combines the power to act with a willingness to shoulder responsibility — the president.

So, this is like the Civil War, and Obama can just decide to do whatever he wants? And, yeah, that excerpt is the entire rationale as put forth by uber liberals who are …… wait, law professors from the U Of Chicago and Harvard?

Obama should give this a whirl, then we could have something else to focus on: impeachment.
