Apparently some of the folks slaving away to cook politically correct meals for the participants of Occupy Wall Street are sick and tired of working themselves to the bone for homeless people, criminals, and other freeloaders who are eating their food. This is called being mugged by reality.

It is also pretty darn funny.

The New York Post reported that volunteer kitchen staff at Occupy Wall Street are angry about working 18-hour days to feed the protesters but are being taken advantage of by the local homeless people and criminals. And they are going on a work slow down to protest at their protest.

For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.

The menu as reported by the Post sounds… um… tasty, sort of. I’d rather have a pizza from Godfathers.

“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out” to curb the influx of derelicts, the Post reports from one Rafael Moreno, a kitchen volunteer.

So, these Occupiers are tired of cooking for freeloaders, eh? And they want to ration the food?

It’s all rather amusing. One wonders if these people see the irony or catch even a whiff of a “lesson,” here?

“Free” invites abuse. Abuse causes rationing.

Can I ask them why they think Obamacare will be any different? Can I ask why they think offering everything else by government for free will result in anything less than obscene abuse and ultimate rationing and ineffectiveness?

Are these Occupy people so unable to think critically that this lesson is lost upon them?

Some protesters threatened that the high-end meals could be cut off completely if the vagrants and criminals don’t disperse.

Unhappiness with their unwelcome guests was apparent throughout the day.

“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out” to curb the influx of derelicts, said Rafael Moreno, a kitchen volunteer.

A security volunteer added that the cooks felt “overworked and underappreciated.”

Many of those being fed “are professional homeless people. They know what they’re doing,” said the guard at the food-storage area.

You see what’s happening, don’t you? The COOKS are the 1%.

They do all the work. And the 99% is happy to take from them.

Part of it is surely that they are having to work, when they thought everything would be provided for them while they relaxed on a golden couch and were fed grapes.

For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.

They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.

To show they mean business, the kitchen staff refused to serve any food for two hours yesterday in order to meet with organizers to air their grievances, sources said.

As JWF points out, the ex-cons and homeless are using up resources without contributing anything, so, the Occupiers are going to cut them off. The Occupiers surely do not even see the irony in cutting off people who have nothing and are just looking for some help from the Zuccotti Park “government.” But, the ZPG isn’t too happy to share their own largess with the less fortunate.

Yup, still irony, considering what the Occupiers are demanding.

Some arguments broke out as the security team searched tents — but no violence erupted.

Security teams? In a communist utopia? Searching tents? Stalin would be proud.

This is like Lord Of The Flies on steroids. Child-like Marxists living like the proverbial pigs, though pigs tend to not live in their own “filth”, and are actually rather fussy eaters. They just like mud. And now they’re learning that people are going to try and take advantage of “the government” and get stuff for free because they feel entitled because “the government” is just there to help. The massive amounts of irony cannot be put into words.

(NY Post) Newly sprung ex-cons and vagrants rousted from other parks are crashing the Occupy Wall Street protest, where gourmet meals are free and boozy, drug­fueled parties are on tap, the movement’s leaders griped yesterday.

“They’re telling people who leave prison to go to Zuccotti Park,” lamented Daniel Zetah, a leader of the OWS community-relations group.

Volunteer Lauren Digioia, 26, said, “We have drug dealing going on here, gang activity, public intoxication. There are a lot of instigators. There are a lot of vultures.

“Everyone knows we give out free food and sleeping bags, and it’s a perfect opportunity for squatters.”

The “vultures” part is rich, considering that is pretty much the main cause of Occupy Wall Street, to become freeloaders off the work of everyone else. Though, calling them seagulls would probably be a better term, as they fly in, make a lot of noise, wreck the place, crap on everything, and demand free stuff. Unfortunately, they never leave. Well, they’ve left the parents basement for camping in a park, of course.

The derelicts, organizers say, are terrorizing people who are there to support the movement.

“There’s a lot of drugs, alcohol, assault [and] theft [by] the homeless groups coming in. We’ve had meetings all day to brainstorm what to do,’’ said Zetah, 34.

The hardened thugs are having a field day preying on overly trusting protesters, many of whom hail from small towns, leaders said.

Well, gee, there’s some sort of government group out there who are trained and empowered to deal with this. Alas, the Morons think they can handle ex-cons, gang members, and drug dealers….hey, why are the drug dealers there? Probably because there are plenty of Occupiers who are clients…..better than the police.

Meanwhile, Oakland, California, police had to use tear gas on the Occupiers, who were throwing rocks and bottles at the police. In Atlanta, the Morons were cleared from Woodruff Park, and about 50 were arrested. The NY morons plan on ruining the Halloween parade. And, apparently there is an Occupy Washington movement. The police are having a tough time distinguishing between the Morons and the homeless.

A bunch of child-like protesters in Atlanta, Georgia refused left-wing Congressman John Lewis — a civil rights icon to many — to be allowed to address the crowd this weekend. The whole scene is reminiscent of the worst, hackneyed, new agie-styled preschool program devised for 5-year-olds by one of the most idiotic leftists imaginable. But it makes for hilarious video entertainment.

Apparently these people decided that their “assembly” would employ pure democracy. But if there was ever a more annoying way to do it, I’ve never seen it.

A scraggly, bearded, hippie wannabe playing the part of the crowd’s conscience spoke to those gathered over a megaphone system. He would say a few words and the crowd would, like five-year-olds in a preschool class, repeat his words verbatim.

It went something like this:

Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy: “We have someone here…”
Dirty, Ground-Sitting Hippie Crowd in Unison: “We have someone here…”
Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy: “Who would like to address the assembly…”
Dirty, Ground-Sitting Hippie Crowd in Unison: “Who would like to address the assembly…”

So, Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy explains to the crowd that they don’t “use clapping” in their “assembly” because clapping can “prevent someone else who is addressing the assembly from being heard.” So, to “signal approval” the crowd is instructed to raise their hands and wiggle their fingers. I swear I saw this on Barney the Dinosaur show.

Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy then informs Dirty, Ground-Sitting Hippie Crowd that any one member of the crowd can offer a “block” or a “check” to the request. Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy then asks if everyone wants to hear from Congressman Lewis? One guy pipes up and claims that even though Lewis has a great record he is not important enough to hear from because he is “just one man.”

Meanwhile, others disagree. Short, Tubby, Cross Eyed Girl rises to say that Lewis should speak but that listening to him does not mean that he is “better than anyone else.”

More “blocks” or “checks” come. In the speak and repeat style these people “check” back and forth until, after eight minutes Lewis is denied the platform

Meanwhile, the guy taking the video is gobsmacked that they are refusing to allow the civil rights icon to talk. It’s all just hilarious as all get out.

You have got to see this video. It really is the funniest thing you’ll ever see. In fact, it is a perfect example of why pure democracy is one of the silliest ideas ever devised by man. Because a few goofs didn’t want to hear from a sitting congressman, he was denied a platform to speak. These people turned away a guy that might have had the power to help them in their cause — what ever the heck that is — because in an act of pure democracy, he was not allowed to speak.

This is why movements need leaders, need agendas, need particular people to guide it. Other wise it is all an exercise in futility. And this video is the most perfect example of futility as one can imagine. Lots of “dialog,” lots of “voting,” lots of feels-good-communalism…. but no action, no purpose no usefulness to the gathering resulted.

Also amusing is the fact that these nuts want to pretend they don’t have leaders. But even they had to have someone take the megaphone and direct the activity, even as silly as it was. Yet, I am sure that Anorexic Hippie Megaphone Guy would have fully denied he was the leader of the crowd. Unfortunately for his self-delusion, he was the leader whether he would have liked to admit it or not.

All one can do is shake one’s head at the foolishness of this crowd of left-wing lunatics.

On the other hand, maybe we conservatives should welcome this nonsense? If this sort of masturbatory, wheel-spinning is all the left can muster any more, we have nothing to fear from them!

I had to laugh when I found out about the left’s newest protest du jour. They are hopin’ mad, don’t cha know? So mad that they are busy organizing marches, protests, civil disobedience, and all sorts of activities to protest it all. But amusingly they aren’t even sure what it is they are mad about.

So, like all good citizens in the age of technology, they’ve created a Facebook poll to find out what they should protest!

Now, let me say this: if you are being oppressed by someone, if your life is so bad that you need to organize protests, usually “the problem” is pretty obvious in its seriousness. I mean, if things are so bad that you need mass resistance, you shouldn’t need any Facebook polls to discover what the problem is. It just should be pretty darn obvious.

Other folks in our modern age don’t need polls to find out what to protest. The so-called Arab Spring has its dictators to oppose. The Chinese Falun Gong have that whole being tortured and murdered by Chinese authorities thing going on — a pretty good thing to protest, I’d say. Heck, even though I don’t agree with them, many in the Eurotrash set have something to protest in that their governments are finally wising up and cutting entitlements. It’s all some pretty obvious stuff to oppose, murder, oppression, and entitlement cuts is.

So what do we have in America? What is the big thang that America’s far lefties want to gather their armies to oppose? Gee, we don’t know. Let’s take a poll… on Facebook.

It sort of seems a bit feckless and silly doesn’t it?

This surreal and guffaw inducing scene is fostered by the OccupyWallStreet movement. A movement that is about… well, we’ll let you know once the poll results are tallied.

Apparently they want to get their armies of “peaceful protesters” to infest — er, I mean invest — Wall Street with barricades and obstructionist protests to prevent folks that work in the nation’s famous financial center from getting to work and, dang it, they are gonna stay camping in tents right there on Wall Street until their big demand is met.!

So, what is their big demand? It’s, er, you know, that thing that, well, it’s really bad cuz, uh, well… I know let’s take a poll. Take it away Facebook.

So, we might be mad that we don’t have a resource-based economy. Or, maybe we want to “revoke corporate personhood.” No wait, maybe we are mad because we want to “abolish capitalism”? No, no, this is it: we want to end corporate welfare. Hmmm, maybe we just want to raise taxes or just tax only Wall Street… can a street pay taxes? Oh, no, I know, kids, let’s close half of America’s military bases… yeah, that’s a good one? No, no, no, I have a better idea, why don’t we…

Well, you can choose from all those important, important communist trope ideas and more. Right there on Facebook. It’s so mod-ren, ain’t it?

Yep. Things are so bad. So bad we can’t figure out what is bad without having an Internet poll.

What a joke the left has become.

Let’s face it: If you care about the environment, you’ve got a lot of reasons to be bummed out. Is the sorry state of the planet dragging you into the dumps? John Fraser, a psychologist, architect, and educator with the Institute for Learning Innovation, is one of a small group of psychologists interested in the mental health of conservationists themselves — how professional activists, environmental educators, and conservation-oriented researchers handle the daily evidence of environmental destruction.

Environmentalists, Fraser says, often aren’t aware of the emotional toll of their work. “Talking to environmentalists can be like talking to a bunch of macho cowboys,” he says. “A lot of people will say, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine,’ and I’ll say, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this, but you’re really not looking healthy.’” The result, he says, is that many environmentalists unconsciously express their stress in meetings or classrooms — sometimes sabotaging their own mission.

Maybe if they ate a more balanced diet, and stopped sniffing all the paint while making their protest signs.

Fraser’s varied research interests include U.S. attitudes toward bison conservation, training programs for teachers living in Central American jaguar habitat, and the effect of literature and poetry on conservation thinking. He spoke with Grist about the under-recognized emotional trauma of environmental work — and how environmentalists can and should recapture their sense of humor.

I was at a high-level conservation conference recently, and someone who was transferring into the field looked at me and said, “Boy, people here drink a lot.” I said, “Yeah, they do.” That’s a symptom of what’s going on — it’s a way of escaping, but it’s not a healthful way of escaping. I’m not saying environmentalists shouldn’t drink liquor. What I’m suggesting is that within the community, there’s probably a higher level of self-medication than is really helpful.

Wait, booze is “bad for the environment”, especially beer, which releases lots of CO2. And all that water used to make booze, the degradation of soil to grow grapes for wine, the exploitation of minority/immigrant workers….Prozac should work better and be less damaging to Gaia.

Will Budget Cuts Leave Us Unprepared for Zombie Apocalypse?

Sigh. Can’t we just have fun now and then?

If zombies ever start taking over the planet, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says we’d better be prepared for it.

If the undead really start roaming the earth looking for fresh brains to eat, we can’t rely on our ability to shoot ‘em dead the way people do in video games or in horror flicks. Instead, the agency says, we need to treat it like any other disaster.

“So what do you need to do before zombies…or hurricanes or pandemics for example, actually happen? First of all, you should have an emergency kit in your house,” Dr. Ali S. Khan, assistant surgeon general of the United States, wrote in a blog on CDC’s web site. “This includes things like water, food, and other supplies to get you through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free refugee camp.”

Say, I wonder if this is linked to the upcoming Rapture on Saturday? There sure will be some seriously surprised liberals. What if it does happen, and we all wake up as zombies? Will we all starve to death, since liberal brains are seriously deficient of protein, vitamins, and size. (OK, enough picking on Liberals)

While the zombie stuff may be tongue-in-cheek, the overall message is serious: It’s critical to be ready for real disasters — from storms to diseases to terrorist attacks. The problem, experts say, is that no matter how many earthquakes, floods or other disasters happen, people still don’t make an effort to prepare for them.

So, they’re saying that that wacky Glenn Beck, who pushes food insurance all the time, and keeps tons of the food packs stored, is actually the sanest man in the room? Goodness!

The readiness message is especially important, experts say, in light of federal budget cuts that slashed more than $100 million from public health preparedness programs when they say much more money is needed.

Sigh. Takes all the fun out of it. Also, it shows the Leftist view, that only Government can help us.

“It means that fewer people can respond and fewer people can help prepare for response, which requires planning and training so that the response is meaningful and automatic,” said Robert Pestronk, executive director of National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), an organization that represents more than 2,800 local health departments. “Without sustained preparedness funding, continued progress is unreliable and the risk of being caught off guard increases.”

Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly and the chronically ill could suffer worse than others without the means to help them.

Actually, in a zombie apocalypse, it’s like the old parable about being chased by a lion: I don’t have to be a fast runner, just faster than you.

I’ll be ready, though, because the zombies won’t get me in these houses.
