As some of you may remember I have been covering the anti-vote fraud efforts of True The Vote, a program created by the Texas-based King Street Patriots. They recently sent out a fund raising letter that almost immediately drew the notice of left wingers intent on destroying their anti-vote fraud work. This immediate response by the left really highlighted how unprepared conservatives are to fight the left’s juggernaut machine.

The King Street Patriots (KSP) have raised several thousand dollars to fund their anti-vote fraud program, certainly. But, as everyone knows, when running an organization — especially a politically oriented one — money is always in short supply.

Catherine Engelbrecht, the head of the KSP, has told me that they’ve rarely resorted to asking for money in fundraising letters, but sent one out early this week to raise much needed cash. Engelbrecht told me that only hours after the letter went out to her supporters the left-wing website American Independent posted a story about the letter.

The quick jump on the fund raising letter by the left shows some major differences between the left and the right in political activism.

First of all, it is impossible to understand why a common, average, everyday fundraising letter would be news. At least on the right, a fundraising letter isn’t of much interest as a news story (unless it has some really crazy angle in it, which the KSP letter does not). But the left-wing site picked up on the fundraising story immediately.

So, why did they do so? Why was a mere fundraising letter such a big story for the American Independent? Because they knew that making a “news” story about the KSP fund raiser would anger their left-wing audience and spur them to oppose the anti-vote fraud effort.

Let’s face it, leftists have tons of cash to pursue their own agenda and they wish to deny the right the same pot-o-gold. The simple fact of the matter is that liberalism has won in the political field for so many years because they have tons of cash to spend on elections and policy. They have that money because liberals donate heavily to their left-wing causes.

Unfortunately, conservatives do not donate to conservative causes with nearly the same verve as the left. Conservatives have a mistaken belief that if they vote in the right politician everything will turn out OK. This is a fantasy that has caused conservatives to lose battle after battle for decades.

Now, I am not saying you have to donate to the King Streeters — though I am not saying you shouldn’t, to be sure. All I am saying is that you should donate either time or some money, or both, to some conservative cause, group, or campaign.

It may be annoying, but winning on these issues takes money and on the conservative side we are always a day late and more than a few dollars short to win.

Make no mistake about it, folks. The reason the left has won the policy battle for so long is not because they have such great ideas, but because they have the cash to steam roll their ideas through. They have the millions to donate to left-wing causes, left-wing organizations, and the sort of influence that can bring legislators in line. All the while as conservatives live their lives and ignore politics the left has been steadily undermining our nation.

Time to step up, folks.

Mark Mix, president of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, has an interesting expose in the Washington Examiner revealing how the U.S. government has decided to allow an obviously illegal fund-raising scheme that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) invented to fuel its spending on political causes and campaigns.

The SEIU has decided to fine any of its locals that does not meet a $25,000 Political Action Committee (PAC) contribution limit. The fine imposed is $37,500. This means that union headquarters is telling the locals that they MUST donate a “voluntary” $27,000 or face this exorbitant fine.

Mix puts it like this:

Imagine the outcry if McDonalds executives demanded that franchise owners collect “voluntary” contributions totaling $25,000 for the company’s PAC from employees at every restaurant.

The outcry would be loud, for sure. But this is exactly what the SEIU is doing to its members.

As it happens, the Federal Election Commission expressly forbids organizations from fining members for not contributing to political action committees (PACs). Because of this proscription, the folks at NRTW filed a complaint with the FEC about the SEIU’s practice.

Here is where it once again becomes that the Obama administration is not only sold out to unions, but will break the law while aiding them. The FEC denied the complaint, refused to stop the SEIU’s illegal actions, AND issued its report so late that the 60-day reply period in which to appeal the decision was already past.

Obama’s FEC violated its own rules and is allowing the SEIU to violate the law.

This is yet another example of how Obama’s administration is anti-business, pro-law breaking by unions, and ever willing to break the law and ignore rules itself in order to assist unions.

RightKlik announced at Midnight EDT that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) is the recipient of funds from Ten Buck Friday Blogs with 42% of the vote. While some of us donated last week, this is the first week of promoting the program, so this is Week 1, even though some of us donated to poll winner Sharron Angle last week. Angle is aiming for Senator Harry’s Reid’s senate seat. After today, there are 18 Fridays ahead before the November election.

Bachmann was my choice this week, and I also nominated her, along with others, I’m sure. Michele has a hard target on her back in Minnesota, because she is an extremely effective conservative. Her voice is strong and even when the press doesn’t want to give her a microphone, she finds one – unlike many Republicans on Capitol Hill.

My blogging friend and war blogger, Holger at Holger Awakens, is a Minnesotan. He says Democrats are sending huge donations into the state. She is their Number 1 pick to destroy, and according to Holger, the race will be a close one.

So this week, Ten Buck Friday bloggers will be sending their donations of $10 each, and maybe more, to Michele Bachmann (Donate @ Michele Bachmann for Congress). At this time, we have 30 blogs participating, equating to $300.00, but I notice we have many more than 30 votes, so from comments I’ve read, we will have readers donating along with us, even though they do not have blogs. We welcome those readers and anyone else.

If you are donating on this Ten Buck Friday, look for a spot on the donation form to write in: ”Donation made with Ten Buck Friday Bloggers,” or something similar. On the donation forms I’ve noticed there is a box for “employer” and a box for “occupation.” I used the “occupation” box to write in a message about Ten Buck Fridays. Ten Buck Fridays do not collect money from you. Everyone makes their own donation with credit card or whatever method they choose. That’s why it is important to note on the donation form: “Ten Buck Friday donation.”

Conscientiously Conservative came up with a great idea. Each Friday she is donating $10 to a worthy conservative candidate now up to the November election. Several bloggers have joined the effort. Note that, if $10 is too much, do less, or do more if you can. The point is to get it on our calendars and in our minds – rather than putting it off for another time. Unfortunately, it takes money to win an election today, and Democrats are flush, thanks to George Soros and MoveOn.org and all the ACORNs out there.

Maggie’s Notebook has joined, and today donated to Sharron Angle (Senate Nevada) and Christine O’Donnell (Senate – Delaware). I haven’t donated to the GOP for several years now, and will not do so. My money goes to individuals.
