Post Debate Roundup

Posted on October 2, 2008

I’ll start out with my own quick reaction. Both Biden and Palin did considerably better then McCain and Obama did during their debate. Biden kept most of the cocky foot in mouth disease missing, but, some of his heavy breathing, and his near meltdown at the end is a small worry. Palin started out OK, but then really picked it up, matching life and executive experience with direct talk to middle America. Joe kept going back to Bush, Bush, Bush. All in all, they both worked it, but, Sarah was on topic, on point, and really wacked Joe with a stick. I saw him move a few times like she pulled out a Birch switch to the hamstrings a few times!

Gwen, well, she was mostly good, but, would have been nice if she had let Sarah respond a few times.

I give it 70-30 to Sarah. Oh, and, given the choice, I would rather have Biden then Obama.

On to reactions:

  • Outside The Beltway: Joe Biden was about average tonight, hitting the talking points in a way that was far from seamless while Sarah Palin was worse than most, making some attempts like “Say it ain’t so, Joe” at delivering canned lines that made me cringe. She was by no means awful but she struck me as someone obviously looking for her mark. She struck me as rather corny, if not goofy, at times whereas Biden struck me as much more bland than usual.
  • Right Wing News: Palin wins, gets more great soundbites off, reassures American that she’s up to the job, and helps the ticket about as much as she could have during the debate. All in all, I was very happy with her performance.
  • Markos Moulitos: Sarah Palin won!
  • Michelle M: Bottom line: Sarah rocks. Biden’s tired.
  • Sister Toldjah: My personal view: Goooo Sarah! She did great. :) I still wish she’d have brought up Dodd and Frank, tho.
  • Mahablog: So! I think Biden hit it out of the park, frankly. And so ends the debate.
  • The Anteater at The Jawa Report has his shocking post debate opinion
  • Blogs For Victory: Debate over. No doubt… Sarah Palin rocked tonight. Frank Luntz’s focus group gives incredibly high marks for Palin.
  • Hot Air has reaction from Camp McCain, as well Drudge Poll numbers. Saracuda is killing
  • Charles Krauthammer thinks Palin won hands down (he was on Fox News)
  • Michelle has a full post up with her reactions, now.
  • Flopping Aces has their reactions, as well as a few others

More as they come in. Bloglines seems to be hosed at the moment.

Thanks for the first link you didn’t spam our email for.

Oh, and not hotlinking the image, too. Guess you learned the hard way on that one, didn’t you.

    Cordially,

Whoever is posting under the name of the Jawa Team. Your a dick. No one hotlinks here. Perhaps you are referring to years ago when I didn’t know any better. If you carry a chip on your shoulder that long you need to get a life. No one here spams Jawa Report. I send tips to Rusty only.

I like that she took charge and answered the questions the way she felt was most important since they were only having one debate. She kept going back to energy…and hit it home that drilling and energy independence is the key to our future and the future of our economy.

That was great. She is a breath of fresh air. McCain needs to stop hiding her!

Who cares what the pundits/bloggers think. Here’s what the people think:

    CNN/Opinion Research Biden 51 Palin 36
    CBS Biden 46 Palin 21
    Fox Biden 61 Palin 39

In the CBS poll, of the uncommitted voters, 18% now say they will vote Obama/Biden, 10% now say McCain/Palin.
