American flags were proudly waved by the 75,000 people who joined Barack Obama at the Democratic Convention. John McCain should applaud that, but instead his supporters wrongfully took leftover bundles of our flags from the stadium to play out a cheap political stunt calling into question our patriotism.
Wrongfully took? You guys threw them away! Here are the photos to prove it from last week! Keep diggin’ that hole.
Roger wrote about this on September 1st, and yes the entire Democratic party should be ashamed. Of course, they aren’t. So, why wouldn’t people question your patriotism when you treat the flag like this?
This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.
“What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags,” a Republican official emailed. “We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.”
I’m not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone’s patriotism here.
Yet the story has a happy ending. One party’s trash is another party’s treasure! Country First indeed!
The flags are on their way to a McCain Palin rally in Colorado Springs where the Boy Scouts and Veterans of Foreign Wars will distribute them to the GOP faithful.
Boy Scouts have arrived with 84 trash bags full of bundles of flags at the site of a McCain rally scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. local time in Colorado Springs.
The campaign says the flags were recovered from Invesco Field after the Democrats concluded their convention there, and they are going to be used as part of the warm-up ceremonies before McCain takes the stage for the rally.
FOX News has been told a vendor at Invesco Field found the flags, which were going to be thrown out, and turned them over to the McCain campaign.
Veterans in Colorado Springs are expected to distribute the flags to the audience at the rally.
Obama has faced questions about his patriotism since the beginning of the Democratic primary, and has set up a Web site specifically designed to fight such charges.
Didn’t anyone make arrangements for better disposal of these flags from Invesco? At the very least, they were an investment that could have been re-used at rallies in Colorado as well as the rest of the nation during the general election. Instead, they’ve handed a dramatic moment to John McCain and Sarah Palin, as well as relieved them of the cost of 12,000 such flags — as well as a full 3?x5? flag that also wound up in the trash.
Remember when the DNCC was supposed to be the “greenest convention ever”? How they worried about the color of the food and using organic materials in their merchandise? I guess we can see where the “green” concern ends … at red, white, and blue.
By the way, just so you know…here is the proper way to dispose of the American flag.
Now they’ll whine about how it wasn’t their fault and it’s not like Obama was personally tossing flags in the trash and in some sense that’s true. But appearances matter and this just feeds into the perception that patriotism as most Americans understand it (something other than endless criticism of the country) is simply a card Democrats play at election time.
I wonder why anyone would get that idea?

I’ve been led to believe that running this campaign is the source of Obamamama’s “executive experience”. My 40 years of business experience told me the CEO had overall responsibility for any actions of his organization.

I sincerely hope this story is never off the front page. This is the most outrageous discrace of all. These democrats who all worship the word RECYCLE don’t even know or care of the propper way to discard a used American Flag. If they didn’t want to keep these flags, they should NEVER of had them. The American Flag is NOT a Prop to be used and dumped like confeiti or baloons. They could of been collected and donated to the Boys Scouts of America who would of in turn used them to adorn veterans gravesites and then, properly discarded them. This outrageous, unforgivabel act of total disrespect for not only the American Flag but for all the proud men & woman who have & still do serve under her and those who have died to honer her MUST be made public to all Americans.Please Do Not let This Story get Buried in the trash, Like the Flags, left by those at the DMC.

2. Palin: “We have been blessed with five wonderful children …. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.”
To the Democrats, babies are punishment, something to be scraped out and thrown away. To Republicans, babies are blessings.

Obama would not wear a flag pin early in his campaign and was called out on it.

The “garbage” in question became Democrat municipality-owned trash, which WAS then stolen by a corrupt waste engineer, who gave it to Rovian-like Republicans in order to reveal that one guy’s garbage is another’s pride.
Usually all Republicans have to do is simply express love of country in order to rile up Liberals and Leftists who just can’t stand someone “wearing patriotism on their sleeve”, especially when it’s so unwarranted. It’s just a difference of opinion, with Libs believing it’s irrational exuberance, and Conservatives knowing it’s not.
I am a McCain democrat. I cannot believe the Democratic party anymore. They say one thing that they are Americans that love this country and then treat our flags like so much trash! Also, I cannot believe any excuse for Obama not wearing a flag pin. All I can say for him is that he gives a good speech. He has been running on “change” and then turns around and picks Joe Biden who has been in the senate for upteen years to make up for Obama’s lack of foreign policy experience. At least McCain’s running mate has a record of change to prove it.

Obama’s campaign isn’t doing themselves any favors with transparently false denials. If they really had intended to reuse or recycle the flags they wouldn’t have been lying next to a dumpster, and they would have noticed them missing.

Are you serious? That photo is your proof? Lots of neatly rolled up flags, bagged in an orderly way? Why would anyone believe that they were trash? Does anyone put their trash in such neat rows? Those flags appear grouped and read for use/reuse.
Come on all of you. No single politician makes a big difference to any ordinary citizen. The game is played at the highest levels. Elections are ordained by the highest spenders. Ordinary people like you and I are used to cast the votes and that is as far as it goes. People are made to beleive that they hold power. May be. Just to declare a winner. After that nobody cares. We work hard to pay taxes and bills. Four years go by and the whole process is repeated. Life goes on. Humans are inherently selfish. Even when we help some one there is an ulterior motive. “Inner peace.” Take a deep breath. Stop throwing mud at each other. These would be thrown out just as like any other convention in the past, including at the RNC. Suddenly someone wants to make a big deal out of a bunch of “Patriotic” flags which most if not all are imported from CHINA. Since the ones Made right here in the U.S.A are too expensive, and break too easily.

My opinion, for what it’s worth, is the statement made by McCain; “I’d rather lose an election than have my country lose a war”. I believe McCain comes closer to having the best interest of the country at heart than Obama does. The “experience” issue; Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama does and she’s running for Vice President not President. If McCain cannot finish out his term; Ms. Palin will have even more experience at that time than she does now.

These bundled flags don’t look like trash to me. This Republican story is just another ploy to take your minds off all the trouble they have caused for our country these LONG 8 years. They sound a little desperate.
McCain has been telling and creating lies for years…The flags left behind were the property of the DNC…the worker at Invesco Field in Denver that found the flags should have reported his finding to the Invesco Field Management Team. I have worked events for years and things get left behind…we are called and the property is picked up or forwarded. This man stole this flags if he failed to report what he found to the people that own the flags. So McCain accepted stolen property and used it to create a lie. When property is left behind by the people running the event (Democratic National Convention) the people at Invesco Field should have reported their finding to the Democratic National Convention. How can the DNC property be turned over to the RNC without notifying the DNC? This sounds very…very…very strange to me…
The management team at Invesco Field had responsibility of reporting to the DNC that the flags were left behind…
The flags were stolen by Republicans and forwarded to the RNC…
I am an event planner…I know that this is just not right….I hope that Americans can see through it….

Yup, we’re crazy…for John McCain and Sarah Palin. And we do pick up a book regularly: it’s called “The Bible.” Maybe you’ve heard of it?
Here’s my unsolicited advice:
1. Turn off MSNBC and ditch the Olbermania.
2. Pick up a book yourself. Aside from The Bible, I recommend such titles as “The Road to Serfdom” (F. A. Hayek) “The Reagan Diaries,” “Liberal Fascism” (Jonah Goldberg), or “Infidel” (Ayaan Hirsi Ali).
Shucks, you’ll quickly discover they’re a damn sight better than either of Obama’s self-hagiographies.
Republicans stole the flags? Was there a Denver Police report? No. Was somebody in charge at all for disposing the flags you claim to be ‘destined’ for storage? No. They were in garbage bags awaiting disposal along with common trash. C’mon, don’t kid yourselves. Democrats don’t care about anything.

McCAIN IS ACCUSED OF THEFT!
Apparently still reeling from being caught steeling no less than 12,000 US flags from the Democrats in an overnight raid recently, now authorities are revealing more theft complaints involving McCain and his personal entourage.
As if steeling 12,000 flags and blaming it on local Boy Scouts wasn’t enough, McCain now stands accused of steeling a copy of Gideon’s bible from a hotel in Minneapolis during his stay there for the convention earlier this week.
Hotel employees gave a list of several items missing from the Hotel after McCain stayed there, including the Bible. Other missing items included three cocktail glasses, an ice bucket, several bars of soap, three rolls of toilet paper and those tiny little ketchup and mustard bottles.
Boy Scouts den mothers also expressed their dismay given the recent circumstances surround the wild accusations that somehow Boy Scouts were wandering the Invesco Arena area during the late hours after the DNC Convention and had stumbled upon 12,000 US flags, which they were then alleged to have stolen and having fenced in Minneapolis to the RNC. “I am shocked” said one mother. “Little Jimmy is in by sunset in tucked in by 8:30 every night, including weekends”.
“These Bibles are no longer free to steal” said the Hotel manager anonymously for fear of scurrilous reprisals by Republican fanatics. “It clearly states on the inside cover that you have to send away now for a free copy of the Gideon’s Bible” exclaimed the Hotel manager.
“You can’t just go willy-nilly taking things as if you own the world” the manager added. “I hear he was illegally downloading music off the internet last month to use in his TV commercials to bash the Democrats.”
Apparently McCain has long suffered from a rare disorder called “Hotel Kleptomania” stemming all the way back to his days in the Hanoi Hilton, where staff still insist he would take spoons, which have not been accounted for to this day. McCain still holds a grudge against the Hiltons, recently implicating young Paris Hilton in one of his regular tirades about Barack Obama, his staunch Democratic rival for the presidency.
The Hiltons were not available for comment, but a spokesperson for the Hotel chain said that McCain has been blacklisted from staying at their hotels since the early 70s due to missing items whenever he would stay at one of their hotels.
This is just one more blow to the McCain camp, still reeling from theft accusations including stealing Barack Obama’s political campaign theme and message as well, a message of change and reform. “We knew he had taken the message”, as did several witnesses who spotted McCain, Washington insider and veteran politician for a quarter century, spouting the term change and reform where several members of the American public were gathered.
One witness said he knew McCain had stolen Obama’s message when he heard McCain having tremendous difficulty pronouncing the word “change”. “It sounded so strange coming from Mr. McCain that you could readily see he was unfamiliar with the concept or how to pronounce the word” said one eye witness. A local panhandler handed McCain a dollar, thinking McCain was begging for a hand out. “I just felt sorry for the guy” said the homeless man, he kept saying “change”.
Mr. Obama stated that “This is a sad day for all Americans” and lamented that McCain really had no message or content of his own to use for his campaign. Mr. Obama volunteered to donate his political message and theme to McCain just as soon as he was finished with them, after November 6th.
Democratic supporters feeling bad for poor McCain have started a campaign and are mailing McCain their loose change.

In case you’re not aware, courts have long stated that law enforcement authorities can go through your trash without a search warrant once you set it in front of your house for pickup…so how would the flag situation be any different?
