(Video) Sarah Palin’s Convention Speech
Posted on September 3, 2008
Update III: Lovin her in Hillaryland. H/T Small dead animals..and thanks for the link.
Yeah. It’s really easy to see now what they were so afraid of. I have to watch that again…..if no other reason but to catch that joke about the greek columns again.
Update II: Obama responds shamefully! Oh my! George Bush’s speech writer wrote her speech for her! Jealous?
Update: Panic in Obamaland!
The backfire will begin shortly. A star really was born tonight and she just gave the base a shot of enthusiasm! Sarah knocked it out of the park! Just in case you missed it, here is her historic speech! She sure wasn’t scared to twist the knife in Obama with a smile.
Thanks to Sister Toldjah for the video.
This lady rocked the house, she rocked the T.V., She rocked the country.
She hit Obama hard on the things where he is weak.
She proved that she is MORE than able and experienced to be the Vice President.
She was a breath of fresh air. She was like a cool breeze in a hot humid room.
She represents all of us who are sick of Washington politics, high taxes, wasteful spending, and elitist thinking.
The Anchoress has a reaction roundup!
Well, the Democrats have a problem. They had a few days of calling her a clueless redneck, a stewardess, a nonentity, and she has hurled that back in their bleeding gums. (If I were Joe Biden, I’d start practising for October 2nd right now.)

Best Speech out there. Makes me proud to be an American woman.
You won’t believe this one! (actually you probably will) Roger Simon at Politico is making light of the sexist media. My blood is boiling right now. Please check it out!

For those of us who saw Governor Palin’s acceptance speech, we saw the birth of the new Republican Party. She explained much of what we were hoping she would. Governor Palin and Governor Jindal of Louisiana are the stars of tomorrow and the next generation of Reagan.
What I would like to see Senator Obama explain is when he last used cocaine, why he will not submit to a drug test, and why her refuses to turn over his cell phone records from the night of his drug/homosexual sex party with Larry Sinclair. Wanna bet that pops up next month?
Thank you so much.
She was totally awesome, I am so proud of her. God bless Sarah and her family. America needs her.
“(If I were Joe Biden, I’d start practising for October 2nd right now.)”
If I were Joe Biden I’d start running. Now.
Not bad for delivering a speech written by a handler, after receiving a day’s worth of intensive coaching by handlers. Not bad at all.
Palin to Detractors
….kiss my perky small town, Middle American, Christian, A**. ;-D
…and as for you Obama, and Biden… ;-D
My God, that was GLORIOUS! ;-D
As one person on FOX noted, the speech may have been written by someone else, but there can be no doubt from its content, and themes, that she had to have had significant input in how the message was framed.
Her performance was a very poised, very funny, very powerful, very specific, very pointed, F*** U! aimed at the Left, the Media, and the Nutroots. ;-D
If she can survive the next 2 months and, if McCain is elected, she survives, and grows, in the job of VP, this Star, born tonite, has a very reasonable chance of becoming the 1st woman President, in 4 or 8 years.
I’ve already seen an example of where the Nutroots, and Media, will head with their attacks on her in the wake of this speech:
“it seems Republicans cheer anything. No matter what Palin said or did they cheered. Palin speech was clearly about nothing.
It was a mean spirited vindictive speech. In fact the Republican, are neurotic, jealous, people; Palin did nothing to dispel this.
The Democrats need to go after her tooth and nail. This is an unethical women, and you can be sure that mean spirited tenor she exhibited against Obama, will come back to haunt her.”
For anyone who might want to, politely, and intelligently, explain to this writer the error of such thinking…
http://cards6.newsvine.com/_news/2008/09/03/1823649-palin-the-attack-dog
On 2nd thought, don’t bother…
I just checked back, and suddenly…
“The author has disabled commenting on this article.” ;-D
My God! A smart thinking member of the Liberal Nutroots. ;-D
The Coward. ;-D
Last night I felt Fred Thompson teed off in batting practice and whose speech would be hard to beat. But he’s a seasoned veteran who recently ran for office. Tonight, Sarah Palin the rookie who just got called up from the “minors” hit a walk off home run. It didn’t win the World Series of politics, but it did win this game…her first speech in a major political convention. The only thing left to determine is if McCain’s speech can live up to Palin’s. To use a hockey phrase; on this evening it was: “she shoots, she SCORES!!!!”
cards6 say “not accepting comment anymore”. Bet cards6 doesn’t want to hear how stupid his/her blog is.
I will now vote for Palin eventhough I don’t like McCain that much. But I give credit to McCain in choosing this woman, he has really some guts. Obama failed in his judgement of Biden.
McCain/Palin is my ticket starting today.
To Hillary, thank you very much for the learning process of what really happened to our party. Now I know why all not-so normal people thrive in the Democratic Party. It has become a refuge of the dirty, anti-American far left. If you want to run Hillary for 2012, it is time to get out of Obama’s claw. After November, we can rebuild our party again and answer, what is really the real platform of the Democrats?
I will not accept a silly platform such as “anything not republican”. That’ is unpatriotic and we are better than that. Reform our party Hillary.
I watched Sarah Palin give her speech tonight and she did a great job. So at the end of the speech I flipped from Fox news to MSNBC to see if there was any bias in the reporting after her speech. And it was. Almost every reporter working for MSNBC and Keth oberman & Chris Mathews leading the charge keep saying that she belittled Obama. And that they were upset about the comment of the Media being bias. They defended Obama and started attacking her by saying about her governing a small town and she had no experience but not one reporter said anything about Obama’s experience that it does not have. So MSNBC is clearly in the tank for Obama and smeared Palin no sooner then she finished her speech. So McCain & Palin are not just running against the Democratic party but they are also running against a Biased media that is in support of Obama and will put there own feelings in front of reporting the true news to the American people. And that is sad.
But this women is going to kick ass and take names later on the Liberals! She has more balls then Obama & Biden combined!
A message to all the liberals out there. Last night you seen your next president of the United States Of America. McCain & Palin.
I think we have here a woman worthy of the title ” Lady Reagan”.
She could give away a ball each to Obama and Biden and still have more than either one of them.
I can say for the first time this year, I’m proud to be a Republican again.
Give me a break… a mother with no experience second in line for president… maybe I should run! We all seem to be like cattle moving with the ebb and flow of media coverage. To compare Sarah to either on the Democratic ticket shows how stupid the average person is. It was this same stupidity that gave us 8 years of George Bush and a war we started!
Nice to see JJ got his/her talking points from the Obama camp. heh
Oh please oh please oh please oh PLEASE keep up the “lightweight” meme, JJ … PLEASE throw us into that briar patch.
That’s it, Brian - call the voters “stupid”.
That always seems to be the Dems excuse when they lose elections - that or “it was stolen”.
Palin has more than enough experience in the world of “politics” to serve.
No Vice-President - or President, for that matter - will ever have enough “experience” to make informed decisions on all the issues that land on her desk.
If “expertise & experience” was the test, we wouldn’t have a President at all - - - we’d defer all our decisions to the career bureaucrats who’ve been buried in the particular issue for years.
What you want is someone who is intelligent; whose core values are solid; who believes in America & the American dream; who is proud of and believes America is worthy of defending JUST AS IT IS (while still aspiring to make her better); who isn’t afraid to make a decision; and whose ego is in check (among other qualities).
Those aren’t qualities you “gain” in politics - you either have them or you don’t.
Palin’s got them.
You can discuss amongst yourselves how well Obama & Biden stack up.
Best political speech in twenty years?
She hit HARD, and the combination of a very attractive, virile woman, with smarts, guts and small town “American Values” has NEVER been seen before. A hot American Thatcher.
The real “change” may be what we saw last night-(and this coming from someone who has voted D my whole life)-this is going to be a real fight, for decades now. She is going to win a lot of hearts out there(in case anyone has noticed, this counts for a lot more than minds in politics!!!)
phew
OMG!!! Sarah Palin is my HERO!!! This is the best breath of fresh air we have ever had the privalage of receiving. Where has she been all this time. My Vote goes with McCain. Anyone who can pick such a prize as running mate is the man for me. She is a normal mom with the ideas that we all need to change this country.
Wow! Can we have some of that spirit?
As a woman in Vermont, a VERY Liberal Democratic state, I can honestly say I have not voted in the last elections as I have been not at all sure of which candidate I would want running this country. Last night I sat here as a mother of young children, a small business entrepeneur, and for the first time in …forever related to someone on the podium. I have worked in Executive positions where the good old boys were too sickening to handle, and to see a straight shooting women deliver cutting remark after cutting remark, with a beautiful smile and a look that says “come after me I dare you” I am for the first time energized to not only vote, but to get involved in the “Raising McCain/Palin” Ticket. He is a man with honor and integrity, and she is a woman with grit and determination, and she is “approachable” unlike many of the women we have seen, and over seen, in the past months, she is human and proud to say she is so. I am going to use this opportunity to show my young daughter that you don’t have to be bitchy and unfashionable to be taken seriously as a woman. Sarah Palin embodies all of what I believe a strong family woman and leader should be. She moved me to register to vote, and to work hard to keep this natural born fighter and survivor on the upward path to leading women in a place we haven’t been before. A place where it’s all right to be tough, be a mother, be an executive, and yes still be a woman in “every sense of the word” Pantsuit aside!
You have inspired me to become involved. Thank you John McCain, but more importantly, thank you Sarah Palin!!
I dont understand whats so great about it. I am Republican, but this is not a great speech.
The speech showed she has confidence and she is a real person, not a Washington construct, with very good character; not unlike McCain. She’s very likeable. But I worry she will lose that if she does too much attacking. I don’t think it comes off as well for a woman to attack as for a man. She can’t do the same hatchet-job for the ticket as Biden. She needs to be tough with a light touch; kind of like Reagan.
Hopefully we will get to the real issues that have an effect on our country. That would really be a breath of fresh air.
If you were a Hillary supporter, which also includes men by the way, I don’t see how you could support this VP choice based on her stance on very important issues.
I don’t care what gender or race the candidiate happens to be. I care about their views on the issues.
If you believe in the Republican platform then you should be very happy with the choice of Palin. If you believe in the Democratic platform then you would have a hard time supporting her views.
As one of the reporters have stated: “have you ever seen anyone flop on an acceptance speech?”
I cannot wait for the REAL debate. No written speeches or teleprompters with be with Palin. She had a convincing speech (of course for the republican party). She dealt with no issues only name smearing. Palin’s dirt in her own background will be foretold in the weeks to come.
I can’t wait to hear the details of McCain/Palin’s plan to turn our economy around and get us out of this recession and energy crisis… or what their stance is on health care and public education. I can’t wait to hear what they plan to do in place of raising taxes. This will be very interesting.
As “great” as Palin’s speech was last night, none of the REAL and IMPORTANT issues were addressed. Hopefully they will be over the next few weeks. In the meantime, based on last night’s speech, I will not vote for McCain/Palin. I need someone who knows politics, knows about foreign policy, and has a SOLUTION for this country’s many many problems. I don’t need a VP who can make funny jokes and who looks good. Nor do I need a WOMAN in office who preaches abstinence sex-ed and is 100% pro-life no matter the situation. I wish we could, for once, have a president who practices what he OR she preaches.
Of course she gave a good speech,Sarah Palin is a professional NEWS READER.
CAMPAIGN AUTO-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED.
PLEASE EVACUATE CAMPAIGN IMMEDIATELY.
WALK DON’T RUN TO THE NEAREST SECESSIONIST LEANING STATE (TEXAS)
CORE PHILOSOPHY MELTDOWN IMMINENT!
CORE PHILOSOPHY MELTDOWN IMMINENT!
CORE PHILOSOPHY MELTDOWN IMMINENT!
democrat spinmeisters and their liberal press minions are soiling themselves and foaming at the mouth this morning. if only someone would call obama the socialist snake that he is we could get down to issues.
It must be a great feeling to read such a speech that someone else wrote for you.Do you all really believe that any candidate writes their own speeches, or has anything at all to do with the speeches content??? These speeches are designed to reel in the American public with catchy phrases and empty promises. They have nothing to do with who they really are inside. Frankly, I feel that some parenting is missing (pregnant teenager while mom preaches abstinece )and Mrs Palin needs to spend more quality time at home rather than seeking a presidential nomination with Senator McCain. Maybe she could educate herself beyond a Bachelor’s degree?
Sarah, you have described OBAMA! do you have a masters in sociology or are you just wanting to substitute a mammy for your mommie?
Actually I have my PhD, Thanks. That is the best response you can come up with? Uneducated insulting comments with a racially charged edge? Laughable. Maybe you need to go back to school.
Sarah Barracuda Palin was absolutely spectacular! Wow!
This is the first time that I can not wait for the election day to cast my vote! lol
McCain-Palin ‘08!
Wooooo! Am I energized ow what? lol
Sarah rocks!
took my degree in english lit back in the dark ages before they dumbed down the SATs. anything you see as racist is in your own mind and a typical response from an obama posterior busser. please don’t be so quick to show your ignorance.
I am very scared of this women and the party for that matter. They want to make everything into a holy war. They don’t believe in science. They don’t believe in the constitution. They only believe in GOD!
A couple of times in my thirty-plus years of voting, I’ve voted for a down-ticket republican. This year, I’m hard pressed to find a democrat for whom I would wish to cast my ballot. None seem worthy. Sarah Palin has clinched it for me on the Presidential side. McCain/Palin — yeah! I’m definitely psyched!
Bill, Your ingnorance is assuming I am an Obama supporter.I was mearly commenting on the fact that all the nominee’s (Dem’s and Republican’s) have professional speech writers. It is a shame that political candidates have to resort to utilizing the words of others as their own. Could you call it political plagiarism? I do. Speeches would be more useful and indicative of the best candidate if they were actually written by the nominee themselves. By the way,the SAT reasoning test is a measurement of a student’s aptitude and not an IQ test. So it is hard to actually call the changes over the years as “dumbing” down…I find that insulting and ignorant of our children’s intellectual abilities. Tests have to change with the times and incorporate new material. I suggest for you to take the new SAT exam and see how you really do. While you are brushing up on your vocabulary, you should look up the slang word you used “mammy”,and see that is an offensive term for a black nursemaid in SE United States. So I do not think racism was “in my mind” it was in your posting.
I wish she were running for President instead of McCain…
If this “speech” is what passes for good, I am finally getting it! I get hiring “brownie” for F.I.M.A. and Chertoff for…well, he’s had so many jobs, I don’t even know what he does for Bush. And, yes, I get Condi Rice.
Smart? Qualified? I would probably get a “C” in my high school speech class with an effort like that.
It was like watching a skinny (and admittedly more attractive) Rosanne Barr dead pan rant about her latest trip to the doctor.
I stupidly listened to the speech fully expecting to hear great things from this latest “talent” to emerge for the Party. Especially after all the “Hype” or at least complaining about all the questions the press was asking.
Instead, I got a Jay Leno monologue!
I want to be inspired! I’m not even interested!
Sarah - apparently your degree wasn’t in English and someone wrote your thesis for you…you used the possessive (’s) several times (nominee’s, Dem’s, Republican’s) when you meant the plural - no apostrophe. Back to high school for you!!
It’s funny to read those people disparaging Sarah Palin’s performance last night. They are slamming her because… wait for it… it’s not her speech! Someone else wrote it!
To paraphrase her… Gentlemen and woman, I have a NEWS FLASH FOR YOU. None of these politicians writes their own speech. But their speechwriters KNOW THEM very well, and they know exactly how to write it. Then the politician, if he or she is any good, takes the speech and starts mucking with it, rephrasing as needed, making it completely comfortable. Making it his or her own.
In the end, it always IS their own speech. And that was Sarah Palin’s speech, from heartfelt beginning to glorious end.
I too await Sarah Palin’s media appearances without the teleprompter. Many detractors here are so certain she will flat on her face. My dear friends, I do understand, for you have seen your Obama fall flat on his face without his teleprompter so many times, it is only natural that you are certain she will collapse too. I understand completely. I even empathize with your pain. I feel your pain, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do!
But I must forewarn you. The teleprompter was apparently quite screwed up many times during her speech. Sometimes from memory, sometimes from notes, she often had to wing it. (Trained monkey newscaster, you say? Don’t you wish! Let’s see Obama pull that one off!) I would say she was totally in command and landing on that particular speech beach in force, all guns blazing. Especially the moose gun.
All I got out of that speech was hot air
I was waiting and wating and waiting for her to say something important
but she didnt
“OBAMA 08″
no I McCaint
He’s not “my Obama” Mike. And, if your comments are directed at mine, you miss my point entirely. I don’t care whose speech it is, IT WASN’T STATESMAN!!!
If this is where the bar will be placed from this point forward, MY REPUBLICAN PARTY is going to look like buffoons!!
Already the other side is realizing that we are in a box. McCain can’t talk about his policies on life, immigration, his Gang of 14, or his personal life (Divorced) because the handlers are saying that stuff sounds alot like the Democrat’s record. On the other side, his people are clearly telling him to shut up about the Economy and the War because his viewpoints have polled very poorly with most voters. So what is left to talk about. Nothing!
Hey, I’ve got an idea, lets get a proxy and start from scratch. She won’t be making any decisions about anything anyway, unless you die in office. So lets roll out a new Romney, to rally the base and put a skirt on her to rally independent women, both of whom you have problems pulling in.
I get it! That’s the problem. Eventually, the base is going to figure out that she is just wrapping paper. ala that “speech” which was a mile wide and puddle deep. Women are already mixed.
They (women and the base, and trust me Obama) will go back to looking at McCain and realize that his record still matters and that it aint that great for either of them.
This is the problem in a nutshell: once the luster begins to evaporate, people are going to get even more disenfranchized than before because of the obvious game that he has played with the voters through this pedestrian game. I actually feel for Palin. She probably thinks he really cares about her positions.
Hydrogen gas not the North slope oil. Lets walk
away with dignity and be a world leader in a non-oil economy. Then we can make our middle eastern friends a non-issue.
1. She is a fear monger.
2.Iraq wants us gone.
3. The rest of the world will not receive this “GAL from the north Slope” very well.
It’s times like these that I truly enjoy being one of the “Silent Majority”. The time for foolishness has passed. Obama’s first mistake was not running with Hillary. He own ego wouldn’t allow it. McCain on the other hand very quietly knocked it out of the park with Sarah. Game Over.
i, like the rest of America, watched with bated breath to see what the second woman to be nominated on a VP ticket was all about. i was expecting a marked historical speech that could be written in textbooks to inspire future generations to come. what i got was some a low-brow, catty speech and the exploitation of the woman’s entire family including the “future fiance” (whatever that’s supposed to mean) of her teen daughter. on top of all of this, it turns out that point for point, essentially her entire speech was a lie. the list exists on my website, i urge you to please educate yourselves before you blindly vote for someone who has the IMAGE we hope for, but an image at best.

oh and fyi - since this forum seems super agro, i do delete abusive comments that are not fact-backed on my website.
Newsflash. McCaine/Palin now lead Obama/Biden by 2 points!
Sarah Palin’s favorabilty ratings now exceed McCains AND OBAMAS
Statement: I find it amazing how we conclude that elections are about proving our opponents wrong rather than proving ourselves right. If either Obama or McCain or literally anyone in the first field of potential candidates were as flawed as the media and their opponents said they were, why would we even consider any of them for president.
Both conventions explain nothing. All we have seen so far is that lying works. Factcheck.org has reported overwhelmingly more distortions and downright lies placed in McCain-Palin ads than in Obama/Biden. And the worst of it is, is that it’s working because most people arn’t even caring about the issues anymore. I have but one question for all the women voters out there. If Sarah Palin is your choice because she represents so much of what is you, the common everyday woman, then why didn’t McCain choose you? or literally any other woman in the world who represented the common. But no, he chose a governor from Alaska, someone who would be a figurehead of change that the Republicans could not yet prove they could provide. He chose wrong. He chose wrong when he started using deliberate ice cold lies to make his points through ads, and he chose wrong in choosing a woman who represents little more than herself.
Factcheck.org has reported overwhelmingly more distortions and downright lies placed in McCain-Palin ads than in Obama/Biden.
Little wonder!
Factcheck.org, the Annenberg Foundation and Obama
