My shift from protest vote to “can I have a yard sign”
Posted on August 29, 2008
As an unrepentant Conservative I’d like to weigh in, briefly, on the effect that naming Palin as VP nominee has had on me and my wife. Not only have we long been planning to log only a protest vote, perhaps for John Galt, this November, but back in February I registered and began to develop a website called GOPLeftMe.com. In a nutshell, I felt that if McCain and the GOP didn’t seem to care much for the social conservatives in the party, I would oblige them and sit it out. That just changed, dramatically.
Today, after the unexpected (maverick?) pick of Governor Palin for VP nominee, my wife and I are excited and talking about little else. We’ve already donated to the McCain/Palin campaign today (I did NOT ever expect that to happen), are going to get a yard sign, and I’ve ditched my plans to get www.GOPLeftMe.com up and running. To the extent that my personal take on it is indicative of other social conservatives this will re-unify my party and is, indeed, a big deal.
Exit question: If Palin and Maverick are elected, will her Secret Service codename be Goose?

Does that help, ArrMatey?
Yippee!
The doubters need only watch the venemous anger and contempt shown in response by the libs.
I ordered my 3 car stickers and 1 yard sign last night….I am all in!
Well played McCain well played!
After a contribution yesterday, I purchased a hat and two shirts today.
I’m all in: POW/WOW ‘08!
I don’t know about any other mothers–Republican or Democratic–doesn’t matter–but I sure wouldn’t trust Sarah Palin to do what’s right for America’s children–not when she’s seen shooting a semi-automatic weapon and looking like she’s having a heck of a good time. I guess she doesn’t have to worry about her kids going to college and being mowed down in their classes because our gun laws are too lax and guns are so easy to get. Her kids will have body guards–what about the rest of America’s kids?
