“Desperate to evade democracy”

Posted on June 20, 2008

Seems that the extremists who successfully convinced four judges in San Francisco to erase the votes of the 62% of Californians who voted to protect marriage just don’t like the democratic process all that much.

ADF: Equality California “desperate to evade democracy”

Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund will fight a new lawsuit filed by Equality California that seeks to prevent California voters from having any say on marriage. The lawsuit filed Friday attempts to remove California’s proposed marriage amendment from the November ballot even though the amendment has already qualified for inclusion.

“Equality California and its allies are desperate to evade democracy. First, they used the courts to erase the votes of nearly 5 million Californians who voted to protect marriage. Now, they are trying to silence the people’s voice forever,” said ADF Senior Counsel Glen Lavy. “This is just another attempt to force a radical political agenda upon the people of California. The opponents of marriage are willing to use any means necessary to impose their will.”

“ADF and ProtectMarriage will defend the right of the people to participate in democratic process and vote on the constitutional amendment,” Lavy added.

Praise God for that. Isn’t it ironic that groups like the Alliance Defense Fund are consistently cast by the far Left as anti-democratic “dominionists” and “haters,” but it is ADF that is standing for the core principles upon which this nation was founded?

Observe the fascistic double-talk of the “tolerant” people.

Equality California: Brief Filed on Initiative Procedure

“We filed this lawsuit because the sponsors of the initiative haven’t followed the very Constitution they’re trying to change,” said Stephen V. Bomse of Heller Ehrman LLP, a lawyer in the suit. “For good reason, there’s a strict process for making revisions to our Constitution, and it’s more involved than simply collecting petition signatures. That process is in place to safeguard our basic form of government, especially the most basic principle of equal protection of the laws. Therefore we are filing this suit today to ask the California Supreme Court to enforce those rules and to require the proponents to follow the correct procedure if they wish to make this far reaching change to our state Constitution.”

So since you can invent a right for two dudes to get “married” in the state constitution, you think you can invent new initiative process procedures now? The arrogance.

Pretty weak, undescriptive headline, huh? Interesting timing, too. You’d think that they wanted to drop this thing late on a Friday and run home hoping no one noticed the flaming bag of turd left on the Cali’s collective doorstep. Anyway…

I thought that the tide had shifted, that every man, woman and child in the Golden State wanted to redefine marriage. If that is true, why not just go through the motions and have the vote. The defeat of the constitutional amendment to protect marriage is inevitable, isn’t it? So why are they so afraid to allow the people of California to exercise their most basic right to participate in the democratic process?

Guess who one of the parties on the brief is…that’s right it’s the ACLU, predictably coming down on the totalitarian side!

Besides the fact that NO government has the inherent right to define what constitutes a marriage! As our laws state: NO DISCRIMINATION, then the government MAY NOT BY LAW say that citizens of the SAME GENDER MAY NOT MARRY NOR HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS AS THOSE OF OPPOSITE GENDERS! DISALLOWING so-called ’same sex’ marriage is BY DEFINITION, UNCONSTITUTIONAL! And I only have a BA! IDIOTS! ;)

I’ve linked to your post from Homosexual Agenda: Protect Marriage Amendment Initiative taken off ballot

NO government has the inherent right to define mothers milk, or Christian, or anything else that has already been defined by nature and God.
