House Dems Call to “Nationalize” Oil Industry

Posted on June 18, 2008

Right after McCain and Bush call to lift the ban on drilling here, the Democrats Socialists send in their counterpoint and it is blatant! They skip right over socialism into Communism. No talk about where they’d get the trillions to buy out stockholders, cuz they’re talking about outright theft! Government seize! Video thanks to Hot Air

We all know what the Republicans have to say, don’t we? Not just no, but hell no.

Here is the news on the idiotic proposal!

House Democrats responded to President’s Bush’s call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live.
Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.
They also reasserted that the reason the Appropriations Committee markup (where the vote on the amendment to lift the ban) was canceled so they could focus on preparing the supplemental Iraq spending bill for tomorrow.
At an off-camera briefing, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the same. And a senior Republican House Appropriations Committee aide adds that “there were multiple reasons for the postponement” including discussion on the supplemental. But the aide said there was the thought that Democrats may wish to avoid a debate today on energy amendments.
Here are the highlights from briefing
Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling
1115
We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.

That’s exactly the goal. Control of people’s lives. Can you believe they are being so openly marxist? Looters! Let them get their hands on it and they’ll be rationing it out! Why didn’t they just propose we sell our sovereignty to Hugo Chavez and let him run things? It’s starting to feel like I’m in an Ayn Rand novel for real!

BeldarBlog:

The Dems are well into the stage of “irrational exuberance” which foretells the pop of their political bubble. When a Congressmen on the House Ways & Means Committee can propose nationalizing the energy industry without realizing that voters may notice that “Hey, that’s communism!” then they’re well and truly drunk off of their own fumes. If only they will continue down paths like these, it may turn out that John McCain is the luckiest political candidate in the history of the world. I’m sensing more and more parallels between the 2008 campaign and the 1972 campaign.

Jeff Goldstein:

The question then, is this: have the American people, either through progressive bromides or an educational system that has been battling to turn government into a secular godhead, become so dumbed down that they will fail to recognize explicit calls for communism when they see them? I honestly don’t know. But I will say that the fact that they’ve managed to pit Obama against McCain — two nannystatists with progressive tendencies — in the presidential election, makes me fear the worst.

Chilling indeed. JOHN GALT 08!

Who would run a state-owned oil monopoly? The Mayor of Detroit? BillyClintoon? AlGore? Dennis Kucinich?

The younger generations were raised on three decades indoctrination through popular culture and the school system. They see nothing wrong with socialism or communism. Obama will be the next president and the US will take a turn towards socialism from which it will be hard to ever recover.

I really hope your wrong Peter.

I truly do not understand why there is such a fanatical hatred of (oh no! It’s like the Russians!!) socialism, since it seems to be working just fine for the Scandinavian countries. And I would hesitate to say that the younger generation has been brainwashed by communist propaganda, since I’ve only seen anti-communist propaganda here in the US.

“I’ve only seen anti-communist propaganda here in the US”. You evidently know nothing about what goes on in every liberal ran school system from kindergarden to the Ivy League colleges. The only education coming out of any of them is communism. If anyone thinks things are so great in any communist ran country why don’t they go there to live? The people under the thumb of communism are ‘dying’ to come here.
By the way, you piss ant communist supporters will not be in charge, you will be dead at the hands of experienced communist. Even they don’t trust a traitor and the bodies are seldom found, unless used as a warning to others.

I wish those wimpy GOP’ers would simply start calling the Dems thieves.

When you take something which doesn’t belong to you, that is stealing.

The GOP should call tax increases stealing.

They should call oil nationalization stealing.

Whenever Hillary or another Lib calls for “paying a little bit more” to strengthen program X, Y or Z call that stealing.

When the Dems say the Bush tax cuts benefited the rich, admit that “Yes, the GOP wants the government to steal less, but they [the Dems] want it to steal more.”

    Etc

I think nationalization is a GREAT idea. We simply cannot trust Big Oil’s CEOs with our national security.

  8. Steve J. on June 19th, 2008 2:02 am

Look, the 50s are OVER. Try to catch up to the rest of us, OK?

YOU are clueless about the school system and popular culture.

Considering how efficiently the government runs everything else,

    You’re correct - Iraq is a FIASCO.

Thank you so much for this video.
If the dems fight this like they are, and the rino’s don’t straighten up and listen to conservatives….well then the prices of gas might as well go up to $20.
Then maybe some of the sheep democrats will wise up , wake up and turn on their leaders and let them know enough is enough.

I heard MSFT is making a lot of money. And I’m very angry at them for making me pay $100 for a stupid program. Let’s nationalize them too!

    Where does it stop?

  13. Steve J. on June 19th, 2008 4:30 am

BTW, the Iraq government owns all the oil and that is written into their constitution.

Are we still fighting for freedom over there?

  14. Roy Mustang on June 19th, 2008 4:33 am

By the way, America is the world’s superpower because we are different. If you have a problem with Big Oil, then become a compeititor. Nationalizing oil is like whining and taking your ball home. No one gets to play. No one gets better with practice. Everybody loses.

  15. Roy Mustang on June 19th, 2008 4:39 am

And we nationalized railroads during WWI. The long term benefits of capitalism are sacrificed for the short term benefit/long term harm of socialism in times of war. And, yes, our Doughboys were still fighting for freedom.

Good - though thoroughly depressing - post. We have completely lost the communications war on the right, just as we have conceded - or lost - higher education to the 60’s liberals. Given the Rassmusen poll that says nearly a third of Americans agree with this insanity, we as a nation are in deep, deep trouble. ROFL - the government is as responsive as the people need it to be. OMG, I am laughing so hard, I think I just wet myself. Yeah. Just like the government is as “responsive” as we need them to be in Child “Protective” Services? Will they run Oil like they do that? Hmmmm…. what can we equate from Oil to children protected to death by CPS, or to families violated needlessly by CPS….

I was always under the delusion that the States were to have “rights” as opposed to the federal government?

It is like I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the big special effects scene in a horror movie. My solutions: getting my kids out of public school; teaching them right/wrong, true/false, good/evil; teaching them the Constitution and why the founding generation knew what we needed to be free; teaching them the history of the world so they remember why the Constitution made the USA the greatest nation in the world; teaching them love and service, stewardship and responsibility, and respect for all people; teaching them that the freedoms to buy and sell, to try and FAIL, and to learn from their own experience are central to liberty; teaching them that people are more important than animals or environments, and that the ability to direct ones own life is an unalienable right worth defending. My children know that the proper role of government is NOT to decide what is best for people, but to allow people to determine what is best for themselves, and that government does not give rights, but that we form governments to protect the rights we are born with. Because my children are learning these things I have hope for the future. How about you?

I’m all for nationalizing things if it is manageable.

If it is not, price setting would be a good alternative.

Scandinavian countries have longer lifespans, and happier populations on average than the U.S. with everything socialized. Health care? Please!

Japan price fixes things for their population like health care, instead of socializing it. They make all medical care affordable to everyone.

The one thing I think everyone can agree on, is the oil companies have no allegiance to the American people in this global economy. They want profits and will get them at everyone else’s expense. And they are selfishly raping the U.S. for profits. Something has to be done, this clearly isn’t working.

  20. Donimus Maximo on June 23rd, 2008 2:02 am

They are creating desperation and suggesting what’s most profitable for them. These people should be imprisoned. NATIONALIZE IT NOW!!! Get these NEOCON DICTATORS OUT OF OFFICE! OBAMA 2008!

Nationalization of Natural Resources in North America, (OIL)

It is now time for the current US Congress to draft a law that will authorize the use of the Armed Forces of America to seize control of all Oil reserves, assets, and property within the borders of the United States of America. Americans are suffering financially because of the profiteering that is being sanctioned by the current Congress. The very survival of America will depend on the controls and relief to the consumer. By controlling the oil and refining process, the final price to the consumer can drop back to levels in the two digit margin, i.e. 39 cents. It is now a matter of National Security that this happen within a very short period of time, or every American will suffer the financial burden of out of control price per gallon for fuel, thus driving up every consumer product and service beyond the affordable means of an average income American.

The American Republic will recommend that the current US Congress and President be held accountable for this “crime against Humanity” as well as numerous others.

It is time to fire the US Congress and President, now and in November, 2008. A new Republic for North America is underway.

We are a Legion of many, who will live a life of peace, and have respect for all living things, while having considerations for those who are different, and look for ways to truly accommodate those who are slow in understanding.

We support the poor, helpless, and defenseless people. We support the freedom of Women, we support the sane treatment of animals and the environment, we support the freedom of religion and expression. We do not support ignorance, period.

We are a growing nation of people that encourage anyone or Nation anywhere to become part of the New American Republic!
