AP: ACLU unveils big expansion plans for US heartland
The American Civil Liberties Union announced by far the largest fundraising campaign in its 88-year history Monday, eying a dramatic expansion of its work on social justice issues in relatively conservative states such as Texas and Florida.
The campaign’s goal is $335 million, with $258 million already raised through behind-the-scenes solicitations over the past year, ACLU executive director Anthony Romero said.
Major donors include billionaire financier George Soros, who gave $12 million through his Open Society Institute.
The Hate America cadre (c’mon…can anyone seriously argue that Soros doesn’t despise this country and the ideas upon which we were founded?) is obviously emboldened and looking to capitalize on the uncertainty of our time. I’ve got to say — these people are deviously brilliant, unmatched in fundraising skill and tireless. Of course it helps that many of the richest individuals and most moneyed foundations are hardcore Leftist activists. Where is our Soros? Where is our Tim Gill?
This shouldn’t be very surprising. When the Left gives to “charity,” it tends to be to activist groups that claim to “represent” the “least among us,” but do very little to directly help people in need. When the Right gives, it tends to give to individuals and organizations working directly in communities helping the poor with food, clothes, housing, etc. Check out Peter Schweizer’s new book for all the details. Also, it’s worth mentioning Arthur Brooks’ book “Who Really Cares” again to find out where the real compassionate people (you know, the ones that actually help the poor rather than claiming “solidarity” with them while they starve) are on the political spectrum.
I can’t express my thoughts on the ACLU’s cash infusion any better than ADF’s Mike Johnson:
“The most dangerous organization in America is trying to become more dangerous,” said Mike Johnson, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund.

As long as the right is still talking, the left will keep giving money to the ACLU who will use it to shut us up.
I can’t believe that they are going to get that much money. Granted Soros does give a lot but from individuals I don’t see.
Assuming a lot of individuals who are giving them money, you can’t really think they are all Anti-American. Hell, theres a few things that I do agree with the ACLU. Privacy, Civil Liberties, things of that nature. So, I’m thinking that a lot of the people who are giving them money, would see it as I do. The guy who runs Gun Totten Liberal, is as Pro-American as it gets, and hes a huge supporter of the ACLU.
Would I give them money? Oh hell no. I give to three charitys, and that’s it. But I don’t see people as Anti-American who give to the ACLU.

Maybe it’s just a lack of understanding of the one, the other or both.
