PA Primary Open Thread

10:56: Hillary raise 100K in 20 minutes?!!! Maybe the tides are turning.
10:50: I think Hillary got the big gap victory she needed. With 78% reporting….55% to 45.
10:49: NY Times isn’t happy.
10:23: Hillary is giving her victory speech. 60% in with a 54 to 45. Tide turning?
10:08: Are the super-delegates starting to wonder?
10:07: I’ll only write a new thread that says Hillary wins after every vote is counted.
10:01 49% 54 to 46
9:56: 41% 55 to 45 for Hillary.
9:55: Check out the map at Politico for details by county.
9:52: The Hillary victory headlines are already written all over the place….but we knew this before people started voting. Everyone’s watching to measure the size of the victory. Obama’s hoping for something he can spin.
9:50: The overall margin seems to be thinning, but a lot of that is from Philly numbers. Once Philly is finished, most of the middle state will go to Hillary.
9:44: 33% 54 to 46 in Hillary’s favor. Women, white men and older folks are going for Hillary.
9:43: Sorry for the slow updates…but I don’t think many are reading anyway. Most folks are liveblogging this. I don’t have the patience to do that anymore.
9:30: Mark Steyn weighs in with a bit that seems to be frustrating many.
I don’t know whether the Great One’s call is right, but, if it’s not a double-digit victory for Mrs Clinton, Obama will be breathing a sigh of relief. The story from the polls so far is that he appears relatively resilient to bad press, racist pastors, terrorist friends, a churlish spouse and his own arugulan condescension. If nothing sticks tonight, you’ve got to wonder what it’s going to take.
I think we need to look at that in context. Liberals have thick skulls. I think the middle America regular folks are taking notes, and Obama will have an uphill battle in the general. In other words, I think its sticking….we just won’t see much of that in tonight’s results.
9:25: Operation Chaos
9:23: Awesome!
On Fox News, there’s word from the Hillary camp that they may do a television ad, mocking Obama for not agreeing to another debate before Indiana and North Carolina on May 6.
9:21: FOX reports 13% precincts reporting. Current tally: Hillary over Obama: 53 to 47.
9:20: Hillary overperforming expectations?
9:18: NY Times reports that many independents showed up thinking they could vote in this closed Democratic primary. Boo hoo for them not paying attention earlier.
9:16: Everyone but CNN has called it for Hillary.
This for people to discuss in the comments that want to. I won’t be constantly updating or anything. I’ll check in from time to time, and will update more as polls close.
Early exit polls are coming out. Of course those mean nothing. Most pundits have said Hillary has to win by double digits for any legitimate reason to stay in the race. It doesn’t seem she is listening to that talk though. While the pundits ponder about her margin of victory and whether its enough…and the candidates play the expectations game…one question for people to think on….why can’t Obama close the deal? Or…why can’t he win PA? I guess he could…but its just not likely.
Turn out is heavy. We will see.
