Frank Luntz Focus Group: Hillary Wins Debate…or Was It McCain Who Won?

Posted on April 16, 2008

Thanks to Johnny $ for the video. Whats most interesting about this are the thoughts from this on McCain. Many of these Democrats would vote for him. Why? Because he’s a liberal Republican. No matter who we choose we move America left?

McCain’s ACU rating is 83. That’s not exactly liberal. Check the numbers for Obama. That’s liberal.

The words I noticed were “Honor” “Honest” - stuff like that.

I truly hope this is a good sign for November.

No matter who we choose we move America left?

Yes, but you’ve known that for a few months now. And the correct direction is “down”, not left.

    Reagan:

You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down–up to a man’s age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order–or down to the ant heap totalitarianism, and regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.

We’ve been moving “down” with very little interruption since the turn of the century.

In fact, just today, Bush had the unmitigated gall to redefine the word “liberty”.

“In a world where some see freedom as simply the right to do as they wish, we need your message that true liberty requires us to live our freedom not just for ourselves, but in a spirit of mutual support.”

A 19th century progressive would have been absolutely giddy to hear such nonsense from a President.

P.S. Frank Luntz can make a focus group say whatever he wants. He’s a professional propagandist.

Yes, he’s a middle to left Republican, but I’ll take him over the 2 no-substance candidates on the left any day. We have to think long term, judges for life type situations.

SJ: That’s his *lifetime* rating. His yearly rating has been creeping leftward since he lost to Bush in 2000 and is now in the mid-60s, which puts him to the left of Charles Schumer, among other known liberal Democrats.
