Google bigotry keeps getting worse
Posted on April 11, 2008
I think the time must come when Christians and conservatives stop using Google and do their searches via Yahoo or live.com
Excerpt:
“Search engine Google is facing a global backlash from internet users over its refusal to carry advertisements for a Christian group. The Christian Institute is sueing Google on the grounds it is infringing the Equality Act 2006. The group accused the popular search engine of having a “warped value system” after pointing out that it allows advertisements for “pornography and instruments of violence”. Websites selling knuckle-dusters and ouija boards, as well as dating sites designed for married people who want to have affairs, are advertised on Google.
But the company turned down the non-denominational Christian charity that wanted to pay Google so that whenever the word “abortion” was typed in, its link would appear on the right hand side of the screen. The link would have read: “UK abortion law news and views on abortion from the Christian Institute.”
Google said it had a policy of declining sites which mixed abortion with religious views. It does, however, accept ads for abortion clinics, secular pro-abortion sites and secularist sites which attack religion. Entering the word “abortion” into the search area immediately brings the user to adverts for Marie Stopes abortion clinics.
Thinking of deleting your Google toolbar?

Well, I don’t blame them for declining. Then mere fact that they are playing the religion card pisses me off! These “Christian” people and the anti-abortion agenda are just nuts!
Tell you what, find a young pregnant girl to go to one of those “Christian” “think you are pregnant and don’t know what to do?” places. Let them run the pregnancy test and after they tell her she is, in fact, pregnant let her tell them she plans to have an abortion and watch the badgering and mistreatment begin.
Their street side protesters are sick *****! Standing on the side of the road holding up large pictures of aborted fetuses. Do you want your 4 .. 5 .. 6 .. etc. year old seeing that out the car window when you drive past? I know I don’t and didn’t when mine were that age!
I don’t blame Google for wanting to distance themselves from that kind of asshattery!
I don’t have a “google toolbar” but I have started using the other search engines.
It is a shame that “cannon fodder” does not appreciate those individuals who are trying to help pregnant women at CPCs and believes such individuals are apparently only in it to “badger” and “mistreat” women. And yet, this is exactly the kind of mistreatment many women say they have experienced at abortion centers. Perhaps “fodder” should direct his complaints elsewhere.
My experience has been that many generous individuals (Christian and non-Christian) working in these pro-life facilities are genuinely interested in the health and welfare of both unborn child and mother. It is unfortunate if “Fodder” has had a different experience. It would likewise be unfortunate if “fodder” deduces such a position and comments from mere prejudice.
And this, as far as google is concerned, seems to be the problem: prejudice. Prejudice against Christians seems to be acceptable to many individuals (note the unreasonable insults above). If google censors on the basis of religion, they are not a service those of religious persuasion (or free speech advocacy) should endorse, and google should be further exposed for being both against free speech and biased against religious organizations.
