Obama’s Racist Pastor: God Damn AmeriKKKa

Posted on March 13, 2008

Powerline coins the phrase: The Audacity of Hate. As Hillary is apologizing to black voters, Obama’s association with someone that preaches racial hatred has been getting a free ride. Perhaps the free ride is over. Obama’s preacher, Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

“The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,” he said in a 2003 sermon. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda’s attacks because of its own terrorism.
“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,” Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

“We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he told his congregation.

Tom MacGuire:

1. When does Barack work his reconciliation magic on his minister?

2. Does Barack actually bring his two young daughters to that church to listen to that stuff?

So, Obama asks Hillary to repudiate Ferraro’s remarks about him only being where he is because he is black, and she quits. When will Obama repudiate the message of hate from his own minister, who is a part of his campaign?

Dan Riehl:

In recorded sermons that may run afoul of IRS guidelines, sure to give the story legs - Wright compares Obama to Jesus, declares America a country controlled by “rich white people,” and claims Jesus was “a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture controlled by rich white people.” He goes on to claim that people are “hating” on Obama as he isn’t “white, privileged and rich,” as is Hillary Clinton. He closes by stating that, “Hillary ain’t never been called a nigger!”

Given Obama’s close ties to both the pastor and the church and his attempt to run a post-racial campaign, it’s fair to say he has some formidable PR challenges ahead.

More at FOX:

During a Christmas sermon, Wright tried to compare Obama’s upbringing to Jesus at the hands of the Romans.

“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people,” Wright said. “Hillary would never know that.

“Hillary ain’t never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.”

In his Jan. 13 sermon, Wright said:

“Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.”

FOX News purchased the video recordings of Wright’s sermons from the church.

“It’s pretty clear an indirect endorsement of Barack Obama - that’s not something you’re supposed to do according to the tax code,” said Andrew Walsh, a professor at Trinity College who specializes in religion in politics.

The tax code bans churches from participating in or intervening in a political campaign. Violations can result in the loss of a church’s tax exempt status.

The Obama campaign issued a statement in response to FOX News’ inquiries about Wright’s sermons.

Obama has a choice on where to be a member of a Church. This preacher of hate has been his minister for 20 years! The simple, basic question is: Will he repudiate the hateful rhetoric of his preacher, and condemn his politics from the pulpit? Or, does he approve of his church’s message? He can’t condemn people on the one hand with racist charges, and follow a racist leader on the other. This is definitely a thorn in his side as Pennsylvania approaches. He needs to do something fast if he wants to survive, cuz this has legs.

Ed Morrissey on the same page:

If Hillary Clinton had to repudiate Geraldine Ferraro for her clumsy and foolish identity-politics rhetoric, then Obama surely has to provide a better response to Wright than comparing him to a crazy uncle in the attic. Wright has a largely ceremonial position in the Obama campaign, but an obvious influence on Obama, as he named his book after a theme from Wright’s sermon.

Michelle Malkin says that now we know where Michelle Obama’s resentment of America comes from.
Hot Air has a nice roundup.
Must Read: Jo’s Cafe: Meet the Man
Pettifog with great analysis
Rick Moran reminds us that his preacher isn’t the only America hater Obama remains friends with. He is also good friends with some terrorists.
Sister Toldjah asks Obama: Where is it in the Bible that promotes racism and hatred of your fellow man? Probably right after the part of the Sermon on the Mount that justifies homosexual unions.

    John;

I’ve been thinking about this. It is rather fascinating. Is the Dem Party paying the price for all this pandering, or is something deeper going on here?

I’m not sure which is the answer. It isn’t helping either candidate.

The one thing that bothers me - Mike Huckabee was castigated for speaking in churches. What’s the difference?

He is black he gets the free racist pass. They all get that. They all can go on TV and say what ever they like without worrying about any media reporting anything about it. Like last year when some dr. something went on CNN and said we need to terminate all the white people from the face of the earth. Not a damn thing was said about it from any big media. But if that was a white person. They be thrown in jail for threats. We are getting sick of hearing there threats. Because they can fight one on one they either jump ya or they have weapons like the Black panthers carry. It seems now in the 21st century that they are now the racist as they say it is there turn.

Where I am from, We are all green.hoah!Seems though alot of people are ignorant and need real history lessons on geographics and real historical backgrounds. Obviously if it wasn’t for those White Euro missionaries he would not know christ at all.Christ was NOT BLACK, Refer to Geographics for this proof.Another thing is …does it really matter. Why are they trying to rewrite histry for themselves. Most of the alligations of racism are a direct reflection of there own personal hatred.
And the statement “black people cannot be racist” HAHA. that is the most ignorant double standard LIE I have ever heard.America needs to Pull its TIT out of there mouth quit baby’n the whiny cry babys and make them do like the rest of the nation that isn’t self indulgent. Get off of welfare, Get yourself up.

Barack aside, I am embarrassed that my fellow-Americans actually revere Rev. Wright. He’s pulling out kegs of the Kool-Aid!!! People look to this America-hater as leadership? I’m sure he has a nice smile and makes his followers feel loved individually. Hey, he has a great preaching voice and style, too! He and his supporters are the embodiment of Jonestown…and now he’s been discovered.

It broke my heart to hear Americans cheering and worshiping a mere MAN who is teaching anti-American sentiment. I never could have guessed this kind of hate was being taught in American churches in 2008! I love to hear people cheer and worship during a sermon regarding the Word of God. That is positive. But cheering on and adoring a racist, anti-American hate speech peppered with erroneous American history (and then throw in, “…that’s in the bible” every once in a while) would make me walk out in a heartbeat! I’d especially leave if any pastor said “Gawd Damn” in any context. Wow. Anyone who embraces this rhetoric supports divisiveness in our country and forfeits equality.

Why do my fellow Americans sit through this kind of garbage? Since when is a Christian church Anti-American? My God would not be pleased.

Rev. Wrong, I mean, Rev. Wright is enabling, if not encouraging, black followers to remain focused on racism. He helps them justify any possible lack of achievement in their lives by blaming rich white people and preaching inaccurate history, which they actually believe because they haven’t done their own research! So, who do the poor white, yellow, brown and red people get to blame? Wright is encouraging a spirit of weakness - making blacks think they will always be victims. In my opinion, he and other ignorant and hateful people are to blame for much divisiveness in our country today. To think this hate is being produced behind church doors is painful.

What a sorry excuse for a spiritual leader – whether Barack was married by him or not.

Oh, and my use of the word “black” is not racialist. It’s just a reasonable choice. I am referred to as white and would never require anyone to call me “European American”. Life is too short for all those PC syllables.

  7. Jim W. on March 14th, 2008 10:39 am

Another fat cat black loud-mouthed preacher who preaches the Rainbow Coalition message rather than the Gospel. How much you want to bet the Rev. Wright has more than a couple children out of wedlock? Lump him, Jesse and Al together and you would have the black equivalent of the Three Stooges.

Next thing you know, he’ll be on Oprah shuckin’ and jivin’ giving all of Black America the “truth” and “hope” when in fact he is a bigoted LIAR.

Black on white racism isn’t any prettier than its ugly cousin. Blacks dominate the entertainment and music industries, professional sports and now we’ll very likely have a black American President. And still they won’t shut up and be satisfied.

I’m convinced black America won’t be satisfied until all us “crackers” are down South pickin’ cotton.

Judgement…..is that what Obama is running on? where is his judgement when it comes to his minister…..? Are we to follow Obama’s judgement now that we know it leads us to his black racist divisionist minister of 20 years? Where are those progressives now? Do they have mud on their faces?..Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy, Dean, Bradley, and Axelrod?….did they know and think it would not bother us? or did they know and think we were too stupid to understand? or would they just jamm him down our throut saying that they know better. I am disgusted with the democratic progressives.

As an Afro-Caribbean man I thought I understood the African American experience until I visited and studied in Atlanta. There is alot that we will not begin to understand of what centuries of hatred did to a nation and a people. Finally, we are beginning to see a movement away from Rev. White’s rhetoric; views which may be held by many African Americans of his generation based on their personal experience. Obama’s generation and beyond are aware of these sentiments and cannot ignore it completely. But it is clear that Obama himself has represented views that are more unifying and seek to call the African American people and the country on a whole to heal. Others on the outside will fail to understand unless they open their minds and be open to the conversation about what the issues really are.

  11. corymac on March 15th, 2008 11:08 am

Senator Obama’s repudiation of Rev. Wrights statements was not nearly strong enough. All he said was that he was that he did not support or disagreed with those statements. Rev. Wright’s statements were downright hateful! Why was he not sickened by those statements? Why was he not appalled by those statements? He almost defended Rev. Wright! I believe that Sen. Obama’s association with this pastor, along with his wife’s comment that for the first time she is proud of her country, shows Obama’s true colors. The people closest to him do not seem to really love America. Does he, really? Is he really a racial uniter? I am now skeptical. Also, his campaign slogan is “Judgement to Lead”. What kind of judgment does it show that he has been under Rev. Wright for 20 years?

  12. Mikki on March 15th, 2008 3:13 pm

I certainly believe Obama, when he says he does not subscribe at all to the views of this pastor on the select sermons shown. Barack Obama, after all, was born of a White mother, whom resembled the Disney character of “Snow White”, whom Obama loved, adored and revered. Obama was raised solely by his White mother and maternal White grandparents (whom he physically favors), as his black father (whom he only met twice) was not active in his life at all.

To allude that Barack Obama is somehow “self-loathing”, which he would have to be to accept such a preposterous claim, is absurd. It was his White family who raised him, whom he solely bonded with as a child. This IS his immediate family now, for gosh sakes! If anything, I would think he would be innately and essentially more inclined to White ideals and culture than any other race. I believe Obama is the most universal candidate. Truly someone who accepts people as they are, and doesn’t even “see” race, like most bi-racial children.

No one, not Barack Obama nor John McCain should be responsible for every word that flows out of their Pastor’s mouth! George W. Bush was elected despite the strong Anti-Semetic views of his pastor. The fact that Obama’s former pastor said some occasionally stupid/racist thngs has nothing to do with Obama, his beliefs, his experience, his DNA, etc. The fact that John McCain’s Pastor has said some racist, Anti-Semetic and Anti-gay things, have nothing to do with the views of McCain, and neither McCain nor Obama should be held accountable for such momentary “mis-judgements” on the part of their pastors. Many of us disagree with some of the sermons preached by our pastors over the years.

Both McCain and Obama will be and should be judged on their own views (solely), and their own addressing of the issues facing this great country! This “guilt by religious association” thing, is simply a waste of time.

Hillary Clinton should release her “Tax Returns”, then we will see who is the real enemy to American interests.

  13. james on March 15th, 2008 3:47 pm

Stick a fork in him. He’s done. Obama can never win given this. I knew the Clintons would come up with something. Wonder how they will try to destroy McCain?

  14. james on March 15th, 2008 3:53 pm

The preacher, along with Obama’s wife’s obvious dislike of the US, have made it impossible for rational white americans to support him. Would we expect black americans to vote for someone sho associates with folks who hate black people? Don’t think so. Same thing. I love the idea of a black president. Unfortunately, only a conservative black american will likley not hold views similar to Ms. Obama or the reverend. Would a politician who belonged to a whites only golf club be elected? Don’t think so. And that is the right thing: you are tinged by the company you keep.

  15. David on March 15th, 2008 6:41 pm

Before we let the media quick to condemn Senator Obama for his relationship with Pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. over the last 20 years, we should first judge for ourselves by asking the question:

    - For the last 20 years, on record, has Senator Obama ever practiced or holds the same anti-American and racist views of his mentor Pastor Wright.

If the answer is no, then we should accept and believe in Senator Obama?s response in his public denouncement of Pastor Wright’s inflammatory sermons. Since action speaks for itself, no one can pretend to be someone else for over 20 years.

  17. Racists need not apply on March 15th, 2008 9:56 pm

Obama is just full of surprises that I don’t want to see in a President. His racist bigot of a pastor is just the tip of a large iceberg that Obama floats upon. The press keeps overlooking the black racists and the only thing left to do is VOTE. No way Jose’ for Obama types in this century. I’m all for a black man or woman–he does not qualify for either!

  18. Go Home Racism on March 15th, 2008 10:02 pm

I am fed up with listening to black racists hip and hop their merry way at my expense. The prescher is a bigot and the Senator is an opportunist with a dark background.

I will not overlook his screwed up childhood, his drugs, his audacious remarks about Christianity and his hopes for a future that only he could appreciate. He needs to crawl back up to where he came from and let the rest of us look for someone with sense and wisdom–not hip and hop from Hollywood.

  19. Story Reports on March 16th, 2008 5:13 am

It can be assumed that Barack Hussein Obama is a racist also by association with his racist pastor! Its kind of like Barack Hussein Obama’s church was the [red neck shop] and he purchased a bill of goods there frequently by attending services. The red neck shop is racist and sells racist goods to the public openly. So does Barack Hussein Obama’s spirtual advisor pastor. Obama likes what he is selling and is wholesaling it to the public in the form of feel good speeches, knowing once he gets into power he can put his spiritual advisors recommendations into effect. Now you ask what would that be? Maybe revenge for 400 years of the white mans slavery because all whites have be branded as the culprits of the ‘pastors’ racist teachings? Power corrupts but in this case Obama is corrupt by association with a racist advisor.

Listening to the tone of the Rev. Wright’s tirades against America, Zionism and white folks…while some of the victims may differ, but not all…I’m reminded of listening to old newsreel and radio footage of a charismatic German of 60 or so years ago…same message of hate with alot of heads bobbing up and down…

  21. Jonathan on March 17th, 2008 12:15 pm

Hes obviously wrong in saying “God Damn America” Americans are not to blame.

He should be saying “God Damn the American Government”

99.5% of people who argue about this stuff and get all hot and bothered have ZERO idea what kind of stuff the American government has been doing to in certain parts of the world. God only knows how many millions of people have died as a result of the filthy tricks our government uses to suppress other countries and keep American interests in hand. Installing brutal dictator puppet leaders, training secret police who use torture and shock tactics, providing weapons and money to the wrong side in conflicts just because the victory of the morally right side would not be in american interests. Organizing military coups to overthrow popularly elected leaders. We put a trade embargo on Iraq in the 90’s which killed over 1 million children because of extremely high rates of malnutrition. All the while we knew saddamn was lounging in his palace and did not care.

Our government likes to sing about democracy and bringing it to other countries only when its suits our aggressive goal, but in reality we dont give a damn about the rights of any other country, and we have spent the past 50 years doing exactly the opposite. Doing everything in our power to ensure democracy and freedom is not achieved in certain parts of the world because it would not serve American interests if it did.

Wake up people……Obama is a scam artist……his father is a Muslim, his Preacher said we deserved 9/11. Maybe thats why he did not vote for the war. The majority of congress voted for the war. That includes Dems.
I dont like eithier party…they both sell us out. We have to pick the best of the worst…so now I will vote for Mcain.. I am an Iraqi vet,,, and I am so sick of hearing everything is Bushs fault….If you believe that you dont know how government works. Its Congress, and Bush. We need a Government thats pro America……
Congress is going to say anything to keep the vote. Bush approval rating 32%, Democratin congress 17%. The media has been telling you for two years Obama….. I seen through it. I would have voted for Condi.I dont understand how Obama is going to write a speech about his preacher, when he did not know that he did it?…..now today we will here him talk about his racist preacher. I suspect he knew ..20 years of church service?
America is heading towards communism….state ran healthcare…..no guns……and censored speech. People wake up….And to the sensible blacks…….the people that don’t hate whites please do your research….. IT WAS THE REPUBLICANS THAT STOOD UP FOR YOU(Abraham Lincoln)and many other events through out history……..Look and you shall see. They were not perfect but they certainly did more for you then the Democrats… I think someone should start a National party….America should close its borders….inforce laws, let legal immigrants come, and take care of our own citezens. We should put our soldiers on our own borders after we find a way to finish the war. I seen a poll today that said 52 percent or Iraqis have favorable thoughts about us freeing them.

I dont think we should send all ilegals home but it should be hard for them to become citezens…..and we should limit arrivals from Mexico..I have a few Mexican friends from the military and the were cool……I always wondered why dont they overthrough thier own government….they diffenitly have the numbers 11 million plus.

Why has the media been making a snuff film with Osama..I mean Obama…
They been tryin to make everyone like him, and I would suspect if it were not for the war…he would not have a chance in hell at being president,,,just solely based on his name. It is a muslim name…we did get attacked by terrorist on september 11, and it was not a government conspiracy. I believe Iraq had WMD they had about 4 weeks to bury them or send them to Iran before we attacked.
Here is my conspiracy theory…. China, Russia, and all the other countries that hates us want to destroy us. So in a time when we need to be protected.. why would we let the liberals, take our god given rights away….the right to bare arms.? I also wanted to say the liberals say they will bring us together but they divide us more…..tell us we cant have guns….we have to be politicaly correct.. cant hunt…have to treat animals really good..but they allow millions of abortions ever year. They say they value life..but I don’t see it. What ever happend to that oil we took from Iraq…well maybe we really sould.. they owe us about 5oo billion. Notice that governor of New York…The Democrat that just stepped down. The media did not want you to know he was a Dem…but if it were A Republican it would have been played more. I could go on all day…..the media is biased. I hope you see. What about white poverty? Indian poverty? Mexican poverty? Maybe whites should start a group, we are the most discrimnated man in America.

    Well mark my words,

Obama will win Pennsylvania cause its a closed primary.

And the Clinton campaign must have put this out now, cause if it was the republicans they would have waited until sometime in October.

First off, if you want to criticize me, please quote my claim directly above your criticism. I am trying as hard as i can to be objective here, so please respect my effort.

    Well where do i start…

First off i think it is undeniable to say that blacks of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s generation are legitimately angry.

if one were to look at his birth date “September 22, 1941″

    and relate other important dates

    Brown v. Board of Education, 347 U.S. 483 (1954)

The Voting Rights Act of 1965.

and also relate clear instances of racism:-

    http://www.cnn.com/US/9704/08/tuskegee/

    etc

I dono about you but, i would be clearly disgruntled.

As for Obama’s own views, i don’t think that they are even remotely close to the Reverend. lets not be dumb here. he has lived for 46 years, he must have written countless pieces of material, given many lectures as professor etc. I don’t think that anyone has unearthed any statements by Obama even remotely resembling the Reverand’s views.

To still conclude that Obama has been hiding his true feelings cause he was planing to run for president since he was 20 is absurd.

Finally lets engage in a logical exercise…

Many here think that most poor ppl are lazy or morally lacking.

    Now…

It is undeniable that Blacks as a race are much worser economic condition than whites.

    Figures:-

    US census beureau

    http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_images/prof/highered/res/hel/hel37.gif

    http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/111307D.shtml

Now, you can say that well ” ohh they are lazy” “i was not lazy and poor before but i am well off now”

But why are they lazy - is it because they are Black.

i would guess that your answer could be because their parents are not “civilized” Ok, well is that because they are black, or perhaps maybe their culture.

but it is irrelevant i think. No matter what their parents are, i think that their Children should not pay.

After all we exploited em for over 200 years, in my view we should make up for that and offer them more incentives i.e. more aggressive affirmative action etc. Until they equalize with wights.

I never said anything like that. I am not racist, my wife is black.
I know that blacks have had a bad history in America. Not in our life time.
They can be just has racist as some whites. Just look at the case, of Mr White (the black guy)shooting a unarmed drunk 17 year old in the face with an illegal shot gun at the end of his driveway. The guy got 2 years. He should have got 15 to life. Now if a white man shot a young black boy he would have gotten life. I am just saying that WHITES have issues to….its not just blacks.

  32. johnson on March 26th, 2008 12:02 am

Tell me this…blacks make up 11% of the population in this country, yet 7.8 out of 10 people in jail are black? That makes it 80 times more likely for a black man to commit a crime than any other race! I’m not racist this is a fact. Honestly, I know of no other people more racist than blacks! There I said it…no one else will.

  33. wtf on March 26th, 2008 2:04 am

We are not in Africa…we are in AMERICA! I spent 2 months in Ethiopia delivering grain for the world food organization and it is every mans’ dream over there to come to America! Notice I didn’t say, “black man’s dream.” Why does everything have to be African-American? How many people here have actually come from Africa. I’m all for LEGAL immigration…yet the people from Mexico wave Mexican flags in OUR country. This seems detrimental. I say our country meaning blacks, whites ,whatever! We were all born here as Americans and had the same opportunity in our generation. Sharpton, Jackson and the rest make a GOOD living promoting racism and hate! Whites’ have been bending over backwards not trying to offend other races for 40 years! and have been blackballed everytime someone makes an obscure comment indirectly related to anything, “African-American”, and get fired, etc!! Yet this white hate can go on and on; out of anyones mouth and nobody can say anything because they are branded a racist! I have never been, nor owned a slave and either have you or anyone else in over a century for god’s sakes! I am sick of being called a racist all day long in my living room for nothin. I repeat…I didn’t do jack-(edited)to anyone and I have had no more of an advantage growing up than anyone else, black white whatever! The Indian man got screwed way worse than the blacks, (who were sold out of Africa as slaves by their own black government by the way), but do you here them pull the race card at every opportunity? NO! When an Indian kills another man-no matter what the race-he is punished as A MAN. He doesn’t say I had no opportunity growing up because I’m Indian… Think about it…and PLEASE let’s end the double standard within my lifetime…blacks and whites…it’s just a color for gods sake! It’s not better than the crips and bloods fighting over red and blue…pretty silly when you think about it huh?
