Fuss About Hillary Clinton’s New Ad

Posted on February 29, 2008

[Update below]

There seems to be some fuss from the left side of the blogosphere about this new ad, where it asks: “It’s 3:00am and your children are asleep,” a voice over says in the ad entitled “Children“. “There’s a phone in the White House, and it’s ringing. Something is happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call.”

“Whether someone knows the world’s leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready to lead. It’s 3am and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?”

The ad is generating some buzz in the blogosphere as seen on memeorandum.

I really hope John McCain uses that same ad because given the choice between Obama, Clinton or McCain, that answer is easy for me.

Needless to say this ad is offending the far far left liberally unhinged, in a bad way.

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe is none to happy about this new ad and had this to say:

We don’t think the ad is going to be effective at all. Senator Clinton already had her red phone moment — to decide whether to allow George Bush to invade Iraq. She answered affirmatively. She did not read the National Intelligence Estimate. She still, curiously, tries to suggest that it wasn’t a vote for war, but it most assuredly was…

“This is about what you say when you answer that phone. What judgment you show…She, John McCain and George Bush gave the wrong answer.”

Obama is right, the question is not only who would be answering the phone but how they would respond which leaves Obama AND Clinton out in the cold.

[Update] Obama responds with his own ad.

Well it is a fearmongering ad. It’s moronic to be honest.Would have loved to seen the meeting of the minds when they came up with it.Can only imagine what was said.

“Hey, let’s make the American public submit to the fear of something happening half way across the world. And make it like, America has to be the Police Officer of the world.”

Oh, I forgot we already are. It’s ridiculous to say the least. My motto for this election…Don’t Vote. It only Encourages them.

And Spree,I was dispargening our troops. Are you that closed minded, to any kind of critism, you shut down the debate?? That’s what Socialists do. I know most Neo-Con’s are socialists, but I thought you were a little bit better. I am sorry, I tried to engage you in a debate. And I will not be returning to you blog.

First off what happens on MY blog is separate than what happens here….secondly, anyone that refers to our soldiers as “killers”,(I saved the comment) IS disparaging them.

YOU I will not speak to again.

My my, wasn’t it nice of Hillary to cut an ad for John McCain?

Jay, no [edited]!! I just say that even The New Republic titled their piece on this “Hillary Cuts an Ad … for McCain”

McCain needs to use this ad for himself… honestly, despite my problems with McCain, when this particular question is asked and I look at the three choices that will presumably be given, Obama, Clinton or McCain… that answer is so easy.

    McCain.

I think its a fair question to ask. It IS up to the American people to decide “who will answer the phone”. Imagine if the answer would have been Algore in 2000. Imagine if the answer is BHO or Hillary in 2008, its not fear mongering, its a genuine nightmare.

Cult leader Obama’s ad is no response to Hillary Clinton’s legitimate ad. Cult leader Obama’s ad is slamming and disparaging the military that is serving Iraq. Instead of hitting at Sen. Clinton with his misrepresentation on her about the Iraq war, he is bashing the patriotic military that is serving in Iraq.

Cult leader Obama cannot be commander in chief when he is skewering the military in Iraq with his attacks on Sen. Clinton.

It’s easy for Obamessiah to say he would have voted against Operation Iraqi Freedom, since he was not there, and had no access to the intelligence that the rest of the Congress critters had.

And, yes, Regular Ron, it is a fearmongering ad. That happens during elections. Always has, always will. But, what else is Clinton to do? Obama has almost no record, and is willing to sit down with long time USA enemies with no preconditions. He doesn’t say he will have the State Dept sit down with them, he says HE will do it.

But the commercial is also realistic, and as tony points out, a fair question. Who do you trust? Some political neophyte hooked to the farthest of the far left kook progressives, who are for surrender in Iraq, can find nothing nice to say about the USA, and have a Blame America First mentality, or Hillary, who at least has some sort of clue?
