Questioning Obama’s Patriotism

Posted on February 25, 2008

CNN asks the question. William Teach does a good job answering it.

Well, we know the Left things he is, since he refuses to wear a flag pin, hold his hand over his heart during the national anthem, trashes the USA constantly, and has a wife who has never been proud of America till Obamessiah became a front runner for the presidency. That is what patriotism is to the Left. They constantly spout interesting slogans, like the old “patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” Of course, what Samuel Johnson meant was false patriots. No one can accuse Conservatives of not loving America, meaning, yup, they are patriots.

Not to mention his friendship with anti-war terrorists and his plan to meet up with all our enemies. And if the women in his life reveal anything towards the way he feels about America, its quite a scary outcome.

William Kristol does a good job on answering the question too.

Barack Obama is an awfully talented politician. But could the American people, by November, decide that for all his impressive qualities, Obama tends too much toward the preening self-regard of Bill Clinton, the patronizing elitism of Al Gore and the haughty liberalism of John Kerry?

It’s fitting that the alternative to Obama will be John McCain. He makes no grand claim to fix our souls. He doesn’t think he’s the one everyone has been waiting for. He’s more proud of his country than of himself. And his patriotism has consisted of deeds more challenging than “speaking out on issues.”

It appears to me that Obama is a very typical, non-apologetic leftist who believes the would would be much better if there were no boarders and we all worked together for the betterment of the UN.

He would be right at home in Berkeley, unfortunately, he isn’t there, instead he is my Senator here in Illinois!

The question is whether the nation has been so poisoned by those with BDS that they are willing to ignore this come November.

Do you have to wear a flag or put one on your car to be a patriot? No! This country or more specifically, our government has done a lot of things I’m not proud of. I love this country and the ideals it stands for as much as the next person but you cannot deny that we have been involved in some shady stuff that contradicts the principles on which the country was founded.
Thomas Jefferson said “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism” and I agree. Blindly loving your country, following your leaders without question or wearing a flag because people think you’re supposed to is not patriotism, it’s nationalism and that my friends is dangerous road. Nationalism leads to things like Nazi Germany and Communism. That’s right the very thing that flag waving right wingers fear the most is just a step away from being nationalistic. Question what our government does, question it’s motives and not just when the party you disagree with is in power.
