The ACLU and the Candidates
Posted on February 9, 2008
Commenter Rastaman asked a question today:
What do all these Republican-oriented political posts have to do with Stopping The ACLU?
Answer: Not a GD<[edited] thing.
Hmmm. He’s right.
This is StopTheACLU.com … and it seems that we haven’t been talking a lot about stopping the ACLU. Not directly, at least.
But, the case can be made that electing a conservative … or a more conservative than the Democrats’ offerings … candidate will help the fight against the outrages of the ACLU.
So, let’s look at the candidates from the standpoint of the ACLU.
Here are the ACLU lifetime ratings of the major party candidates still in the race:
Barack Hussein Obama (D) 82%
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (D) 75%
Ronald Ernest “Ron” Paul (R) 61%
John Sidney McCain III (R) 25%
Note: I have been unable to find ACLU ratings on Maurice Robert “Mike” Gravel (D), who was in the Senate from 1969-1981, and Michael Dale Huckabee (R), who served 10 years as governor of Arkansas. I would be very interested any any data (with sources) regarding their ratings. I will say that I suspect they rate Gravel very high, and Huckabee in the same range as McCain.
So, there you go.
The ACLU rates Obama, Clinton, and Paul highest of the four remaining candidates that are currently in Congress.
And McCain the lowest.
So, if you read anything here supporting McCain (or Huckabee), then, yes, it’s related … though indirectly … to stopping the ACLU.
Oh, and if you see a post supporting Ron Paul … well, then, it looks like someone might have forgotten to take their medications.

This is not a fair judgment. When does supporting the constitution require you to take medication. If it does, then welcome Oceania. It’s double-plus good today for you.
There’s nothing wrong with supporting the Constitution. But that’s what the ACLU claims, even though that’s not what they are really all about.
The ACLU is a sham.
And so is Ron Paul.
Supporting the Constitution — which I do — does not require medication.
Supporting Ron Paul? That’s a sign that you’re due for a refill.
I still can’t believe that anyone can be so obnoxiously stupid as to want to “stop the ACLU.” What else do you sleazy morons want to get rid of? The First Amendment? All the other amendments? Why not the whole constitution? After all, you crooked idiots seem to think the Declaration of Independence is somehow the backbone of American law.
You guys are a pathetic excuse for “Americans.” You are no more American than Stalin or Hitler. Nothing but pathetic sheep, authoritarian sycophants, mindless lemmings.

Someone please send me a refill. I more medication so I can keep supporting freedom. Because, apparently, when I’m off my medication, I need to support socialists.
I like my freedom. The ACLU does not. John McCain seriously does not. BillaryBama HATES my freedom. Ron Paul wants me to have freedom.
Ogre: You know I have the utmost respect for you, man.
But really. Ron Paul is nuts. The 61% rating by the ACLU ought to cause you to look at things again.
Step back, take a look at things anew.
“I like my freedom. The ACLU does not.”
Only an idiot would say such a thing.

JMJ:
You seem to have the left’s talking points all down pat.
We’re all about free speech here. We let your nonsense appear, didn’t we?
And, I’m in favor of the Constitution. All of it. 1st Amendment. 2nd Amendment. All of them (18th excepted, as it was repealed). Including the 10th.
I’m not in favor of made up laws. Like the left’s judges like to make, saying the Constitution says things it doesn’t say. Or saying that international standards trump American standards.
We on the right don’t always agree — look at Ogre and me. He’s for Ron Paul. I’m for John McCain.
But we both recognize crap when we see it … or smell it.
And the ACLU, for all they say that they are for, are a bunch of lefty loonies who do not stand up for the Constitution, or at least not for all of it. They pick and choose what part of the Constitution suits them.
If a group really did what the ACLU likes to tell folks they do — fight for freedom and rights — it’d be a good group.
But they don’t. And it’s sad that you fall hook, line, and sinker for them.
