Mitt Drops In Latest National Poll

Posted on January 9, 2008

I wonder if it is reflective of getting the “silver” twice in a row. He drops below Fred in the latest Gallup poll and comes in fifth place. On top of this he won’t be running ads in Florida or South Carolina.

Romney has been on TV for months in both states, owning the airwaves long before his GOP rivals purchased their first spots.

But his multi-million dollar investment in the two key states, that may ultimately decide the GOP nominee, has not paid off as he continues to lag behind rivals there.

Spokesman Kevin Madden declined to say whether their decision was based upon strategy or money.

Allahpundit is devastated. True conservatives are not going to accept Huckabee or McLame. Many are behind Fred with Romney as their last resort backup candidate.

What to make of this poll? Well Bob Krumm points out…

$70 million spent, at least $17 million of his own and Romney is in fifth place and without a win in either of the two states he was expected to carry.

That is pretty sad. Trust me, he didn’t get rich by throwing money away. Michigan may just be make or break for Mitt. So where will Mitt’s fans go? Let me introduce them to a true conservative.
