Edwards Camp: Obama Doesn’t Salute the American Flag

Posted on January 5, 2008

….and he was sworn into Congress on the Koran! Check out what happened during the Iowa caucus.

In the Dodd camp, Sorenson is trying to persuade his firemen to go to Obama as a bloc. Yet his men hesitate — perhaps it bothers them that Obama’s precinct captain is Sorenson’s wife. One fireman objects: “I’m not voting for anyone else. I’ll just grab my coat and go.”

He grabs his coat, but before he can leave, an Edwards campaign ambassador approaches. “What do you guys hang from the ladders at firefighters’ funerals?” he asks the men in yellow. An awkward moment ensues. “The American flag!” he answers his own question. Then, he points right at Mrs. Sorenson, and declares: “Obama doesn’t salute the American flag.” For good measure, he adds that Obama was sworn in to the Senate on the Koran. (Not true, but all’s fair in the heat of a caucus moment.)

The firefighters awkwardly ignore this rant, and the school teacher returns from the Biden-Richardson corner with a proposal: all three camps join together in an undecided bloc. This would give them two — or possibly even three — uncommitted delegates to the county convention. This appeals to the whole Dodd crowd.

Edwards finishing second, and Hillary’s meltdown, puts him in a position where he needs to knock Obama down a few notches. If he tries it like above it will only backfire.

One must ask, Is Obama simply following this advice from “Ask the Imam?”

Question: Could we sing national anthem and say the plegde of allegience to the secular state while the flag is being raised up?

Answer: As Muslims, our pledge of allegiance is only to Allah and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). However, as Muslims in a non-Muslim state, we are obliged to follow the laws of the country which are not contrary to Shari’ah.

The allegiance of pledge by singing the national anthem of a secular state which has many un-Islamic laws, for example, legalising homosexuality, lesbianism, pornography, etc. is not permissible.

    Or this?

Question: Should I stand up for the national anthem? Should I stand up when a judge enters the court and everyone is ordered to stand up?

    Answer: 1. No.

    2. It is not necessary to stand up, you should not do so.

Apologies to Stop the ACLU for blatant promotion — but I do have a ton of links to many articles here and am on the Flight 93 Memorial blogroll.

“Not true, but all’s fair in the heat of a caucus moment”

Thats part of the problem, we’ve been made to believe that its okay to create total lies in order to win votes. If that’s what happens in caucus arguments, then they are a pathetic farce. The young man’s comments show that a Democrat can be just as racist as a Republican in their desperate attempts to rescue their failing candidates.

Richardson is doing the smart thing, joining forces with the Obama people to crush the Clinton “machine” (and if this article is true, hopefully the Edwards one too). He will be rewarded with the running mate spot (which many have predicted all along was the position he would end up with, though it was assumed it would be alongside Hillary).
