(Audio)Rush Limbaugh: Huckabee Not a Conservative

Posted on January 2, 2008

Even if enough Iowans don’t listen to Rush in time most Americans are. If he happens to survive Iowa with a his skin it will be downhill from there in my opinion. Thankfully. The only person worse for the country out of the Republican side is Rudy, and Huck is starting to make him look good.

Anyway, I’m a little late on this today. We had a lot of errands today. However, riding around to do them I actually did catch Rush on the radio, and despite my wife’s whining, I insisted on listening. I was cheering the whole time. Here is audio via Hot Air.

Here is the money quote where he says Huck is not a conservative.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Gov. Huckabee, mighty fine man and is a great Christian, is not a conservative, he’s just not,” Limbaugh said. “If you look at his record as governor, he’s got some conservative tendencies on things but he’s certainly not the most conservative of the candidates running on the Republican side.”

He also didn’t have anything nice to say about McCain.

In addition to Huckabee, he singled out John McCain for specific criticism, attacking the senator on immigration, campaign finance reform, interrogation and tax cuts.

“The idea that he’s a great conservative in this race is an affront to conservatives,” Limbaugh said, accusing the media of “pushing McCain hard.”

Limbaugh seemed to swipe at McCain, Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani, respectively, in responding to a caller about which candidate had true conservative bona fides.

How many conservatives want to tell me that Rush doesn’t know what he is talking about? Iowa? So Rush does the process of elimination for folks. Who does this leave in the field? Romney, Thompson, or Hunter. In my opinion Thompson or Hunter….and that would be a pretty ticket too.

Speaking of which, a late surge for Thompson is being reported. I’ll give that a thread of its own.

Huckabee was interviewed earlier too and didn’t even know he was crossing a picket line to be on the Tonight Show.

So what if Huckabee isn’t a Limbaugh “conservative”? Why is that important? As for Huckabee “getting slammed Thursday night,” I guess ol’ Rushbo doesn’t have the clout he once did. See David Brooks’ column today on that point. (Or maybe Brooks is not a conservative, either?)

“…attacking the senator on immigration, campaign finance reform, interrogation and tax cuts.”
Interrogation? Good God, are you people still torture apologists?

Now that the God Wing of the Republican party has rebelled, what will the Mammon Wing (as represented by Rush Limbaugh) do?

Listen my Christian friends, don’t you know that Jesus was kidding with all that “I was an hungred and you gave me eat” business?

Listen, all you worshippers of the Prince of Peace, who take the Bible literally, that’s fine for Genesis, but Jesus always spoke in metaphors except when he said “I come with a sword.”
