*** Urgent! Ron Paul NOT Excluded from FOX Debate
Posted on December 30, 2007
Update: I have a commenter claiming to work for Ron Paul who insists he was excluded. However, this doesn’t make very much sense. They are including him in a debate they are holding four days later. In a review of other candidate websites and news schedules, no such event exists. It was cancelled over three weeks ago, Ron Paul was invited but never committed to attending before the event was canceled because of the close proximity with the ABC event. There is a forum, but no debate.
EMERGENCY MESSAGE! CALL OFF THE RIOTS!
Rumors went out that Ron Paul was being excluded from a FOX Debate and his fans freaked out, as they have become famous for doing. They called for boycotts and protests, etc. Turns out that he was never even excluded from any debate, and that the debate in question didn’t even exist. Oops! Panic buttons off.
Skip ahead to December 27th, when the Union Leader reported that all candidates had agreed to the ABC/WMUR debate and reporter Garry Rayno added a confusing paragraph about Giuliani finally agreeing to the (canceled) January 6th forum, which had already been converted into a simple state GOP brunch.
Due to the timing of this article, there was no way to confirm who will or won’t attend the brunch, but it is not a broadcast debate and has nothing to do with FoxNews. Nevertheless, a blog in Washington picked up the story, scrambled it and their “BHDC Staff” reported a list of the candidates who would be attending, which did not include Ron Paul (he hadn’t officially confirmed, due to the conflict).
That story was picked up by the AP Newswire, which added some information that it had from a month earlier about the format being discussed.
Finally, the AP article was picked up by Lew Rockwell and passed along to DailyPaul.com, with all the errors intact. Of course, a firestorm ensued on all the Ron Paul nets before the information could be verified. Immediately, thousands of messages went to FoxNews and the NH GOP protesting the exclusion.
Unfortunately, the Ron Paul campaign didn’t sort out the facts before sending out a news release blasting Fox for their “outrageous” conduct, even if they did note that the information had not been confirmed. From there, the report spread into dozens of blogs and news commentaries.
A few people try to point out that the story is false, but that doesn’t stop them from posting lists of phone numbers, plans to launch DoS attacks by downloading the Fox News site over and over (right!), freaky rants about the New World Order, and pleas for the “hotheads†not to commit acts of violence.
Yikes! Close call there guys. On the other side of the coin, here is some good news for the Paul fans! He’s beating Rudy in NH.
Don Surber reports it was all made up by Big Head DC.

I wish you parrots would quit repeating bs you read from other blogs. An ap press release is much more credible then someones blog. Theres a debate on the 5th that he will be at. Then there is a forum on the 6th that he will NOT be at.
Dude! The AP is more credible than blogs? You’ve gotta be kidding.
If the Ron Paul folks continue to trust the AP over checking actual sources before reacting they will continue to put egg on their face.
I work for the Paul campaign and we received word from Fergus Cullen, head of the New Hampshire GOP, that Dr. Paul was excluded. He held a meeting with FOX and asked that he be included and was told no.
I was also on a conference call with all of the other campaigns in which they were discussing their invitations to this FOX debate, which we never received.
So if you don’t want to believe NH GOP (the co-sponsor), or AP, or senior staffers from the McCain, Romney, Guiliani, Thompson and Huckabee campaigns then the wild, unsubstantiated speculation on this blog could seem plausible. But it doesn’t make it true.
FOX scheduled this event, WMUR and ABC were furious about it, and when things got hot, FOX canceled it.
There is a debate on January 6th at 8pm
at St A’s run by Fox and NHGOP. Ask the candidates that accepted, Romney Guiliani, Huckabee, McCain that I know of. This is not a group of supporters crying wolf but it amazes me to see that those who are in charge of the debate are being very quiet.

To Whom it may Concern,
I am writing to express my disappointment and displeasure upon discovering Dr. Ron Paul will be excluded from the New Hampshire Debates. Dr. Paul has placed #1 among Republicans AND Democrats at AOL’s spam-proof poll. Dr. Paul LEADS ALL Republican candidates in fund raising this quarter. Dr. Paul is tied for third place in IOWA. Dr. Paul’s support is known to be great among Independents, former Republicans and Democrats. Surely these people deserve to have their candidate heard! Dr. Paul Is the MOST searched for candidate on the internet. The exclusion of Dr. Paul from these debates would be for me the final convincing piece of evidence that we the American citizens are no longer in control of our destiny. Once the process to file FEDERAL complaints via the FCC is automated, you may expect a flood of letters to your affiliate stations stating FOX affiliates are NOT acting in the public interest.

There’s no Fox debate, but there is a Fox forum and from the best information available, he is being excluded. Seeing as how Fox still hasn’t commented on it, I’m inclined to believe the campaign.
You guys, the Nolan Chart article has been retracted. The information is wrong. FOX has indeed EXCLUDED Ron Paul. They included Fred Thompson.

WMUR’s criteria is more or less reasonable. Fox, OTOH, didn’t specify any criteria. They just picked their pro-war buddies with no concern for polls, funds, or the results in Iowa.
There is a debate on January 6th, and Ron Paul was NOT invited. I’m not sure who started the rumor that it was cancelled, but it is still go. Ouch, I can already feel the boycott.
What to boycott?

Invited or not invited … that is the question? Folks this aint Shakespeare. MSM merits a strong boycott. We’ve got to make a strong showing in Iowa and throw the old media with their pathetic polls out upon their arse
The Boston Globe article below…
The New Hampshire Republican party verifies it…
and Fox News doesn’t argue it…
By James Pindell January 5, 2008 11:26 AM
The New Hampshire Republican Party dropped their affiliation with a Republican debate sponsored by Fox News tomorrow night because they have limited the number of candidates that can participate.
“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field,” said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. “Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures.”
The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited.
“We look forward to presenting a substantive forum which will serve as the first program of its kind this election season,” David Rhodes, vice president of Fox News, said in a statement.
Jay may need to update his post. He claims:
“In a review of other candidate websites and news schedules, no such event exists. It was cancelled over three weeks ago, Ron Paul was invited but never committed to attending before the event was canceled because of the close proximity with the ABC event. There is a forum, but no debate.”
Go to http://www.foxnews.com today (January 6) and you will easily see the header “GOP Candidate Square off Tonight at 8:00 ET.”
Would you refer to “squaring off” as a forum, or a debate? Sounds to me like a debate.
And yes, Ron Paul is not invited to the event based on his “poll” numbers. Fox has nicely disgraced itself, especially in light of how badly Ron Paul beat Giuliani in Iowa (and yet Giuliani has the privilege of “squaring off” tonight).
The New Hampshire Republican Party has withdrawn as a partner in the Fox Presidential Forum due to the exclusion of Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter. Yep, it’s Fox and the corporate media attempting to silence Dr. Paul.
