Update: 9 dead, ten counting the shooter.
All I can do is request you all pray for the families of the victims.
Police don’t believe that anyone other than the gunman who killed himself was involved…
Channel 6 News has confirmed that a 19-year-old Sarpy County man left a suicide note this afternoon stating, “I’m going out in style.â€
That man’s vehicle was found in the mall parking lot.
Michelle Malkin notes this is the same mall where a grenade was found last week.
Fox reports of a second person taken into custody.

A law enforcement official speaking on the condition of anonymity has identified the gunman in a deadly mall shooting today as Robert Hawkins of Bellevue.
The official tells The Associated Press that Hawkins was born in 1987.
The official says the shooter left a suicide note that was found by his mother. The official did not know what the note said, where it was found, or the gunman’s motive in the shootings. It was given to police, who have not confirmed or denied the existance of the note. The official says the alleged shooter did not have a criminal record or history.

“Just one armed customer or shopkeeper” would have had to be in exactly the right place at the right time. The shooting was all over in about six minutes. So even if someone had been armed, they would have had very little time to get to the third floor of Von Maur. The police probably were concentrated across town where President Bush was speaking–that may explain the six minute response time.
Trying to place blame or figure out why this boy - that keeps being referred to as a man - killed himself and took the lives of innocent people the way he did is what has escaped every individual who sees this story or experiences the grief. I don’t think this can be understood. I think this is one of the saddest pieces of our now modern history that somehow kids want to be “famous” for killing others. Perhaps if we look how the media handles these stories we might be able to make some change. The mind set of these kids that act on being on the front page of the newspaper and splattered all over cnn for 48 hours are so sadly mistaken they will be famous. I believe this is where we must start to make any change to the far to often occurrence.
Here we go again, another bored white kid taking his pathetic life out on society. When are these people who are allowed to pro-create going to start parenting???? This crap didn’t happen in the 60’s and 70’s when I was growing up. Kids are so misguided by tv and celebrity and all things dillusional that they don’t even have coping skills anymore. Crazy!

The mall is posted with many NO GUNS ALLOWED signs.Of course law abiding citizens obey making the mall the perfect shooting for a criminal lunatic.
Look at the photos they show of him,typical headbanger baggy pants wearing earring wearing monkey.Why cannot the welfare office just spay and neuter the twelve year olds who get banged up and have babies that turn out like this [edited]?
If that mall had allowed personal weapons in a state that does I am willing to bet that someone who had the chance to put a few rounds his way just may have stopped him, trash like him think they are playing video games.Bet now those who carry are going shopping with their weapon.It takes a bastard act like this to alert people to there surroundings,chance favors the prepared individual.
