Poll: Hillary Not So Inevitable
Posted on November 26, 2007
Good news: She loses out to all five Republican choices in the latest poll.
Bad news: Its Zogby. Gallups numbers look much more dismal for us.
However, it isn’t all heartbreak. While Zogby doesn’t have the best record on accurate results, their reputation for trends isn’t that bad.
Clearly, Hillary’s edge has eroded. Democrats have seen her as an inevitability, a candidate who has no peers and no competing organization. They had hoped that a return to the halcyon days of the Clinton administration would appeal to voters without Hillary’s personal negatives impacting their decision. That assumption has been shown false; voters don’t like Hillary in the way they liked Bill, or very much at all regardless of comparison.
Can this re-energize the Democratic nomination? Probably not. Her two closest competitors are empty suits, and it’s far too late for more substantial candidates to jump into the race — save one….

I’ve been saying this for a while. Her negatives are almost insurmountable, which is why it would be good for the GOP to have her be the Dem nominee. I’m going to be kicking myself if she somehow does win, but her consistent negatives around 50% make it seem virtually impossible for her to win, which is the only reason the right wasn’t pushing harder for Newt, because only his negs are higher than hers.
That said, despite the way Iowa & NH are shaping up, I’m sticking with my long time prediction that it will be Giuliani vs. Hillary (VP Obama).
