No Free Speech for Gun Advocates
Posted on May 15, 2007
In response to the Virginia Tech massacre, a student at Hamline university in Minnesota sent an email to university officials saying that it should allow licensed gun owners to carry their weapons on campus as that would help keep the students safe. The university response?
“Hamline officials took swift action. On April 23, Scheffler received a letter informing him he’d been placed on interim suspension. To be considered for readmittance, he’d have to pay for a psychological evaluation and undergo any treatment deemed necessary, then meet with the dean of students, who would ultimately decide whether Scheffler was fit to return to the university.
Convicted and punished without trial in a way that would do the old Soviet Union proud — as we have come to expect of American universities. And what Stalinist has ever respected free speech rights?
This must in fact be a proud day for American universities: In one fell swoop they have denied a man his right to free speech, his right to bear arms and his right to due process. A trifecta!
Sadly, the right to due process has long been denied to students by American universities — with predictable abuses following on from that. The vast injustice of such proceedings actually killed a student in the Plinton case

What more would we expect from the education system these days?
Their sole purpose it seems is to brainwash our society with
their deranged anti-family values, anti-American agenda. The
entire system needs to be completly overhauled.
It ain’t over ’til it is over.
.
Scheffler was a Law Student, no?
.
Presumably he is already lawyered up.
.
His only real problem is that he has been receiving multiple calls from multiple firms.
.
Hamline is about to pay for this young man’s education.
.
Cue the leftoid trolls and read the spew any minute now…
.
One important question… How did he write this? If he was a ranting loon, then maybe some time off from school is needed… If he calmly gave his case, then it’s a complete overreaction ment to curb legal and responsible gun ownership.
And in the words of Matt and Ian

And one might wonder about our safety, with the demonitwits wanting
to stop the war on terrorism and then this. How safe are we we we
have so called educated people teaching our youth. I call them
educated idiots. They have no sense of reasoning, or some call it
no common sense.
The idiots in control of Hamline University could be labeled as neo bolshevik cretins savants , except that they are far too stupid to enjoy that appelation .
A constructive option would be to arrest the whole supervisory staff and deport them to North Korea ..They would love it .
If it was a proper letter to the university, then good for him. Let some law-abiding students conceal and carry. This is a typical response from the university establishment that is rooted in liberalism and is made up of people that love social classes, where they and their oppinions are superior to everyone else who has not achieved the same level of education through the same educational system as themselves. They open themselves up to wackos and non wackos alike.
All this school had to do was tell the student no. That was it. It was a letter not a letter bomb. These schools need to start acting logically to this type of situation. If they do not want guns on campus so be it. They do not have to suspend anyone that has the unmitigated gall to exercise their 1st Amendement right to free speech. What do they think they are in the USA or something?
