Racism in Louisiana

Posted on March 23, 2007

Now that existing governor Blanco is bowing out, the Louisiana Democrats are trying to decide who will be their next candidate for governor. One of the Republican contenders is Bobby Jindal — of Indian (from India) origin. Jindal does of course have the most politically admired skin-color in America (at least if you go by the media). That is the context for this:

U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon of Napoleonville said Democrats need a centrist, white candidate to beat Jindal

What a racist! If a Republican had said that, it would be blaring from the front page of every newspaper in America, but, as it is, you may see it only here.

P.S.
I don’t believe Melancon is a racist at all. He was just describing reality as he saw it. But Republicans are not allowed to do that. Any non-servile mention of race by a Republican is “racism”.

If anyone should be offended by that it should white Louisianians. To assume that the people of Louisiana are that ignorant is insult. However being from Arkansas, I also know that what he said is the truth. Which is embarrassing.

Most of us are not racist. Have you ever lived here? We have so many African Americans and we treat them the same as any other person. We do not look down on them and say i hate you because you are not my color. We simply say hello and if they do not want to talk to us then that is their problem. We do not only pick white people in campaigns. We give the other people just as much attention as the others. So if you think we are racist, THINK AGAIN!!! We would never treat anyone like dirt no matter what their color of skin is. I know you have heard this before: It is not what is on the outside, it is what is on the inside. We all take being called “racist” as a serious insult. It really is not fair what others say about you that really is not true. How would you like it if I called you “racist”? Not fair huh? that is because you just accused us of it and now we are accusing you of it. especially right after you just said you are not racist. You know some people just do not make sense! I hope that I never end up like you!
