Top World Net Daily story: ACLU exec busted for child porn in court today
A former American Civil Liberties Union executive, who once argued that Internet filters in libraries that limited children’s access to pornography would interfere with their ability to learn and communicate, is facing a federal court hearing today on charges he possessed child pornography.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled in court in the Eastern District of Virginia for Charles Rust-Tierney, 51, of Arlington, Va., who has been held in custody in the case since his arrest. According to report on the case, Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMS, which reportedly depicted graphic forcible assaults on young girls.
Rust-Tierney, who served as president of the Virginia ACLU chapter for several years, was the lawyer who argued against Internet filters in libraries in the early 2000s when the ACLU was opposing the Children’s Internet Protection Act, which later was approved by Congress.
Big Bubba, everyone’s favorite cellmate is fluffing your pillow, sicko.
Donna Rice Hughes, president of Enough is Enough, a website dedicated to protecting children from the dangers on the Internet, had worked on CIPA, and then served as an expert witness for the defendant when Tierney and the ACLU sued over the filters.
“That Mr. Rust-Tierney, a leading proponent of unrestricted access to the Internet, has now been arrested for receiving and possessing graphic child pornography should serve as testimony to the injudicious and baleful outgrowth of the legal challenges launched by the ACLU questioning the constitutionality of important legislation that protects children from Internet exploitation and content harmful to minors,” the organization said in a statement released by Enough is Enough spokeswoman Cris Clapp.
“When Mr. Rust-Tierney argued before the Loudoun County Library Board that unrestricted access to the resources of the Internet was essential for our children’s ability to learn and communicate, and when groups like the ACLU contend that acceptable use policies alone are capable of protecting children online, they fail to acknowledge the tragic and devastating effects to children and families of both intentional and unintentional access to online pornography,” the statement said.
I guess by “communicate,” he was thinking of that sacred form of expression — first-graders screaming while being violently raped. Since the ACLU believes that once child porn is made that its distribution cannot be stopped lest we run afoul of the cherished First Amendment right to participate in the propagation of forced sodomy on toddlers, it wouldn’t be a stretch from them to argue just that. As we all know, the ACLU is already defending the “right” of known child rapists to publish tips on how to lure children into rapes AND get away with with it! You know, as “the foremost defenders of the Constitution,” they’ve got to protect all forms of expression.
STACLU get some play:
A StopTheACLU website notes that the organization still represents such groups as the North American Man-Boy Love Association and John Roberts, of the ACLU’s Boston branch, said, “Mere possession should not be a crime.”

Thanks for posting on this. Sadly, it is being ignored by the MSM. You can find more recent articles on Mark Foley than on Rust-Tierney.
HAS THE ACLU MADE ANY STATEMENTS CONCERNING THIS NUTROOT WHO USED TO WORK FOR THEM. I WONDER WHAT THEY WILL DO?
You say you wonder what they will do. They will supply him
with as many lawyers necessary to get him out of a conviction.
I just watched fox 5 in DC and they never mentioned his ACLU affiliation, surprised? I am not however I am angry and I sent them a letter letting them know that the court cases he has argued go right to the heart of his debauchery. The judge would not even give him bail because of the infants and small children bound and abused with a 20 minute tape of whining and crying of children also present on his computer, sick, sick and disgusting.
In the interest of being in America, and being an American, what has happened to free speech whether or not it fits with who owns the publication? Is there any news source that chooses to be strong enough to print what needs to be printed. Is not the truth in everyone’s best interest? Wrong is wrong. That these people sleep at night, after defending people like this, is unbelievable. ACLU and their cause is muddled and lost in their desire to prostitute themselves to any and all, worthy or not.
But these people think that the Bible should not be read in the public square!
Think about the children! Jesus said that for those who harm children, it would be better for them to be drown in the sea with a mill stone hung around their necks (Matthew 18:6)! I wonder, is that why the ACLU hates the Bible so much?
Rochester, NY
A local TV station went under cover and exposed that graphic pornography is being accessed in plain sight of young children at the public library, main branch. After the segment ran on our local channel, the County Executive, Maggie Brooks, told the library to either put filters on their computers or face the withdrawal of funds. The ACLU came out in minutes with their lawsuit threats against the COunty of Monroe and Maggie Brooks. The very next day I ran across the ACLU pedifile story on-line. These stories don’t make our news outlets because they are all Democrat, liberal and love the ACLU and their ilke.
I sent the article to the County Executives e-mail but don’t know if it will be forwarded to her. I also posted it in the Democrat & Chronicle forum, but most posters are busy trying to justify the porn access or hate Ms Brooks and nothing she does is right in their eyes. (Sort of the Hate Bush syndrome on a local level).
