Jack Is Back! 24 Open Thread

Update: Drudge is reporting that 24 may go nuclear!

As Washington continues to raise concerns about terror threats on The Homeland — a recent CIA report outlined a scenerio of possible “series of explosions using ‘low charge’ nuclear weapons” — Hollywood and FOX-TV are set to up the ante with the new season of 24!

Few outside of the 24 set know the exact details of the new season unfolding, but studio sources claim producers are pushing hard to take it radioactive this time — and keep it there.

Preview of the next two hours thanks to Ian.

There are ways that you can see these first episodes without waiting. However, we have decided to wait, and tonight is the night tonight on Fox at 8 p.m. EST. Two more hours will follow tomorrow night. Lorie Byrd is super excited and so is Blogs 4 Bauer. Watching 24 is giving away $500 to whomever guesses how many kills Jack Bauer will get this season. Blogs 4 Bauer has the kill counter out and ready. So, we will be occupied tonight watching 24. Feel free to discuss as you watch in the comments here.

Also see Rick Moran’s post.

Other excited ones: The Wide Awake Cafe, Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiller and Musing Minds.

Ian has an open thread too.
Kit has one too:and asks:

To get started, let’s have some questions.

1. Is anyone else unnerved by the Arabic-speaking head of CTU?

2. Why is Karen such a whiny liberal?

3. How did Bill Buchanan decide to marry her??!?!

4. Detention facilities?

Jack Bauer is the baddest mofo alive, and at the end of the first hour (about half an hour from this writing) you will say “DAMN!!! HE really IS the toughest man around!”

I, (like many others) have already previewed this seasons premiere……I will shut up now.

I’ve seen the first four episodes and while I have him set as my homepage, let me just say that Drudge has thoroughly screwed it up for a lot of folks. Yeah, he gave away the suprise (it’s not full scale nuclear, though….the dirty type).

FYI, it’s gonna be awesome, baby.

Besides, they already set off a full scale nuke in season 2, IIRC, in the NV desert.

    1. I would be unnerved about the head of CTU speaking Arabic if it were not common for terrorism experts and other agents to have skills in another language, especially the language of the bad guys they follow.
    2. She spent too much time with Clinton
    3. He needed a piece of tail and since he is always working he can get a little in the janitor’s closet.
    4. Sure, why not.

Now, here is my question. Is it just me or did it seem like Fox was trying to smooth over the Muslim/Terrorist angle by having a Muzzie help Jack?

And why don’t they listen to him in the first place?

Hey, how about Kiefer having those “Lost Boys” flashbacks on the one terrorist’s throat?

As I just noted here (and elsewhere), I wish I hadn’t missed this evening’s premier.

But more significantly, I wish that ‘24′ wasn’t a time frame that had to be adhered to, in real life, time and time again. :-(

    on the muslim issue:
it looks like a pc view on the surface, but
the show shows what happens when americans trust and don’t verify as the muslim boy turns out to really be a terrorist.

also, a muslim terrorist does help jack but he is a cold blooded killer. jack recognizes that but uses “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” logic and saves him.

karen is a lib but oh well. she’ll see the error of her ways when a major bomb goes off.
