Outrage: Woman Puts Baby In Oven
Posted on January 11, 2007
Update: Below is my initial emotional reaction to the news I read. People are innocent until proven guilty. Several people have told me that the reality of this situation may not be what was reported. This isn’t a surprise. So…if the story is true…whoever is guilty should be the one in the oven.
My wife was flipping channels on the t.v. and stopped with a gasp as she heard about this outrage. They need to throw this stupid woman in an oven or something.
A Florida woman faces felony aggravated child abuse charges after allegedly putting her 11-month-old baby in an oven during a dispute with the baby’s father.
Sharlyn Singh, 29, was breaking up with the baby’s father when the incident allegedly occurred, the Orlando Sun-Sentinel reported.
The girl’s uncle was packing a suitcase for the father while the father waited outside. The uncle said he heard the baby crying and asked where the baby was.
He said Singh fled the apartment at that point, and he pulled the baby out of a warm oven, the Orlando Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.
“The oven wasn’t terribly hot, but it was on,” a police spokeswoman told the Sun-Sentinel. When police found Singh at the apartment complex, she denied putting the baby in the oven.

She should be put in an oven! Oh I wish you hadn’t had me see that this early in the day! (:
Jay, things that are reported aren’t always what they seem, or even close to true. A good friend of mine represents the child’s father and odds are good that I will be appointed to represent the mother in the next week or so.
There is a lot LESS to this than you think.
I bet the ACLU will defend this woman claiming it was her choice to put the baby in the oven! The ACLU is happy with the decision in MD that stated that a pregnant woman can not be charged with abuse for taking ILLEGAL drugs? If you cant serve liquor to them in a baby bottle how is it different with the placenta connected?
after studying this case throughly i personally do not think that this mother is guily of anything. we are not dealing with any direct evidence her. this case is mainly based on he says she says, who is to say that the childs’s father did not put her in the oven. there were 3 individuals in the house, previous cases with other individualss have lead us to believe that mother are always the ones to be blamed, i don’t think this is true in this case.
I personally believe people are sick. I can see a woman in a fit or rage put her baby in the oven. There was a man not too long ago got drunk and strangled his wife. Had sex with the dead body. Then cut her up put her torso in the refrigerator, head in a pot on the stove and baked her arms and legs in the oven. Then quit his job, went to strip clubs, partied, and then wrote a note and jumped off a building. So I do believe people are capable of truly evil things and anything done to children should be punished by the death penalty. But thats just my opinion.
Again, now having been appointed as the mother’s attorney, I caution patience. There is a story that will come out that will change your perception of her and this story.
