Iraq Al Qaeda Chief Says Democrat Victory A Step In Right Direction
Posted on November 10, 2006
Update: The boasting increases as Al Qaeda claims to have 12,000 troops in Iraq and gloat they are winning.
If the ACLU saying Rumsfeld’s resignation was a step in the right direction was not enough for some people to realize it was a step in the wrong direction…maybe the words of Al Qaeda’s leader in Iraq can enlighten them.
A purported audio recording by the leader of Iraq’s al Qaeda wing said outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld quit to flee the Iraqi battlefield.
Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said in the recording posted on the Internet that the group has 12,000 armed fighters and 10,000 others waiting to be equipped to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.
“I swear by God we shall not rest from jihad until we … blow up the filthiest house known as the White House,” he said.
Hold on…fuller quote non-Reuterized:
“We announce today the end of a phase of the jihad (holy war) and the start of a new one … to usher in the project of an Islamic caliphate and restore Islam’s glory,” Abu Hamza al-Muhajer said in the message.,”We swear we will not rest from our jihad … before blowing up the filthiest house, dubbed the White House” Source
Thanks to Darleen for the full quote.
The Democrats’ victory at Tuesday’s Congressional elections were a step in the right direction, the speaker said.
“I tell the lame duck (U.S. administration) do not rush to escape as did your defence minister … stay on the battleground,” the speaker said. “The American people have taken a step in the right path to come out of their predicament … they voted for a level of reason.”
A level of reason huh? What do you suppose our enemies think this level of reason the Democrats bring to the table?
“The (U.S.) enemy if now wobbly. Today they are loading their gear to flee,” the speaker said.
Oh! They seem to think the Democrat level of reason is surrender. I guess that would be a step in the right direction for victory of our enemies.
In Iran, Khamenei calls elections a victory for Iran!
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush’s defeat in congressional elections a victory for Iran.
Bush has accused Iran of trying to make a nuclear bomb, being a state sponsor of terrorism and stoking sectarian conflict in Iraq, all charges Tehran denies.
“This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush’s hawkish policies in the world,” Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran’s student news agency ISNA on Friday.
“Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation.”
Syria is pretty excited about the election results too.
It seems the enemy is hopeful now that the Defeatocrats will hold to all their talk of retreat and are challenging us to stay on the battlefield.
AJ Strata:
I do not think these thugs have the understanding or patience to wait until the new Congress is sworn in. And I doubt they will reduce the pressure on Pelosi and Reid to give them time to think about this matter. That is not how these people think. We can see that the ME is interpretting the elections in the worst possible way, and there will be results. Possibly very horrific results.
Meanwhile the Democrats are telling Iraq, you guessed it, we will stay the course.
So, what would an actual reasonable person conclude about the election results when our enemies are cheering them? Now that the Democrats have the power they so desperately fought for, who will they blame when they fail to bring positive change? Who will they blame when the enemies taunt us as cowards in retreat? One can only hope they will wake up to the reality of the threats we face, because despite the accusations of political scare tactics, the threat is very real. Are you listening Dems? The enemy loves you too! I think this is quite revealing of how the enemy views our political system. Please America, wake up before its too late.
The enemy has been listening to the Democrats’ defeatist comments on Iraq the whole time we’ve been there. And you can be assured that enemy hasn’t forgotten what those Dems, who weren’t in the majority then but are now, have repeatedly said about how the war was a “mistake” and how we “shouldn’t be there” and how we need to get out as soon as possible. They know what we are saying and doing here in America. The question is: is the new majority in Congress listening?
I really think the Democrats need to start working on changing their image. You know it is a problem when Al Qaeda gloats over their victory. That would take a lot of work though, and I’m not sure they want to.
Funny, I don’t remember reading any MSM reports about Al Qaeda’s voting preferences before the elections.
Captain Ed, as usual, keeps the cool head.
The reality is that we cannot win the war on terror without the Democrats after these midterm elections. Rather than continue with antagonizing rhetoric, we’d better find ways to engage them rationally in this effort if we want to survive. I’m hoping we can find common ground with them now that they have the responsibility to govern. If we can’t, then let’s criticize them for their actual failures, and not get so intent on grasping at any way to attack them that we start becoming repeater stations for the ravings of genocidal lunatics.
The Captain’s cool head has struck up quite a conversation on the right side of the blogosphere. Some agree with him, like Rick Moran and Steven Taylor. Others, not so much. Powerline has a good back and forth going with Ed.
Dan Riehl weighs in:
These people did enough damage when they were running, it isn’t delusional to think about how much more dangerous they soon will become. If you didn’t take notice of George McGovern coming to town, you should. How long before they send Jane Fonda to Iraq for a public relations tour? The Democrats undermined our war effort to gain political power. It’s foolish to think they will turn into something different over night, no matter how nice they seem to want to play for now.
Wake up, America. These aren’t your Father’s Democrats. They haven’t been that since McGovern came to town the first time, in case you’ve forgotten. Let the MSM media carry their water. I’ve no intention of falling down that hill.
I’m with Blue Crab Boulevard. I want all Americans to unite against our common enemy in bi-partisanship, but it does say alot that our enemy praises a Democratic victory and I’d like to see some push back from the liberals on that.
Wizbang has a great roundup.
Heh, if you need a little cheering up…Sister Toldjah has a hillarious tribute to Donald Rumsfeld.

Uh… PLEASE don’t just quote the Reuters article. Reuters is spinning this as a kind of grudge match between AQ and the Bush Admin alone.
A fuller quote:

f*ck Reuters.
I didn’t see an MSM report on Al Queda voting preferences… however, I did see this in worldnet daily
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52747
I know, it’s a “Right Wing” site, so anything they say can be dismissed out of hand…..
right????
And we said this would happen. Of course, the MSM didn’t discuss it- we discussed it places like here, but it never reached the average American- so many Americans had no idea. But many Americans had no idea, and now they have to deal with the repercussions of what they have done.
Wake up, America.
Terrorists also say that America is evil and that capitalism is evil. Why aren’t you taking their word on this too? Why are you acting as amplifier of their hateful messages?
This seems to be the prime mistake that the right makes on terrorism: it assumes terrorists to be honest people who show all their cards and honestly represent their capabilities.
