Will You Take This Wager?
Posted on October 24, 2006
Legendary Sheriff Joe Arpaio starts mandatory english classes for his inmates.
After two weeks students will be tested “to see how well they learned about American government, the words to God Bless America and the communication of health and safety needs.”
The wager?
The ACLU sues within a month due to the “God Bless America” requirement.
Any takers?

Don’t get me wrong - despite being the kind of liberal you guys hate, I think American citizens should speak English. That said, why not teach them our National Anthem rather than God Bless America? Oh, that’s right - not even Congress can be bothered to learn the words.
I dont hate liberals….you guys are wonderful comic relief…and would be even funnier if you weren’t so dangerous.
Amboy…I almost deleted your trackback as spam. I get spam with the exact same title all the time. I wonder how it got past the filter.
I almost deleted it also……
hbee…how did you find yourself here?
More [edited] from The Rag. KFYI did the same story with a soundbite from Yo, Joe specifically stating that the class is NOT MANDATORY!
Hi Jay,
I’ve had you on RSS for a week or so. Honestly, I use you guys as material, just like Americablog, Focus on the Family and the ultra-wingnutty Shelly The Republican. I don’t agree with everything the ACLU does but, like John Adams defending the British soldiers at the Boston Massacre trial, they defend the unpopular because that’s what America is supposed to mean.
The ACLU plays an important role in America. It’s too bad that rather than debating the issues most “Americans” opt for the easy out of dismissive talk-radio sloganeering. And that’s on both sides of the issue.
