A 4th of July Message From The ACLU

Posted on July 4, 2006

On the Fourth of July 230 years ago, a group of brave Americans launched a bold experiment in freedom - the United States of America. Out of the many reasons they broke from the British empire was a monarchy that supressed their religious freedom and obstructed justice.

In today’s America, the ACLU has taken up the helm of the supressing religious expression, and tearing down the foundation those brave Americans built.

The ACLU have a special holiday message at their website. In short, they wish everyone a happy 4th of July except the Bush administration who they hate.

These days, we in America face a presidential administration that insists on its right to engage in unprecedented and widespread abuses of power. The Bush White House has consistently ignored the rule of law — authorizing surveillance programs that fly in the face of the Constitution and our laws; permitting the illegal kidnapping of individuals; holding prisoners without trial; allowing and engineering the torture of detainees; and repeatedly ignoring its duty to enforce laws passed by Congress.

However, they do make a list of reasons to cheer on Independence Day. They include the Supreme Court ruling that our terrorist enemies can now clog up our civilian court system, and the freedom to burn our glorious flag into ashes. After all, they say the spirit of American freedom and independence is burning again. Nothing could be a greater tribute to the founding of this great nation.

I have a special message for the ACLU this holiday but its too vulgar for me to type here. Instead, here are some links to real messages of freedom, and those that appreciate it.

As you enjoy your family, friends, BBQ, fireworks and listening to the official launch of Wide Awakes Radio today, remember that freedom isn’t free. There are brave men and women out there fighting the enemies of liberty. Don’t forget them.

Michelle Malkin has a great roundup for Independence Day. She points us to Zell Miller’s RNC speech, and it is very appropriate and expresses just how we feel.

Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier.
And, our soldiers don’t just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.

For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom he abuses to burn that flag.

Independent Conservative gives us the message of true spiritual freedom.
Wizbang has a great roundup.
Indepundit gives the history lesson.
Gateway Pundit has a tribute.
Expose The Left has video of the Marine Band.
If you have a post in honor and tribute to our great nation of freedom please share it with us. Link it to this post, and it will appear below as a link. Happy 4th of July!

Happy 230th, America! God bless us one and all (except of course, the ACLU)!
