U.S. to Give Iran Nuclear Technology

A package of incentives presented Tuesday to Iran includes a provision for the United States to supply Tehran with some nuclear technology if it stops enriching uranium _ a major concession by Washington, diplomats said.

Such a dimplomatic strategy is mind-boggling in its pure genius, especially since it worked so well when Clinton gave the same sweet deal to North Korea. Yeah, the same North Korea with nuclear weapons galore. Ummm…yeah, the same North Korea with a psychotic dictator.

But nevermind - any similarity between the two situations is entirely coincidental and does not mean we should draw any foregone conclusions or learn from our mistakes. It is no big deal when psychotic dictators are armed with nukes, as we can plainly see with the passive and harmless North Korea.

Part Time Pundit:

Let’s give them the same deal that North Korea broke when we gave it to them. We’re only America, of course we should grovel to third-world crackpots!

It’s not like they’ve ever invaded an embassy or anything.

Right Thinking From The Left Coast:

Now, those of you who have been whining lately that I’m always looking for any excuse to “bash” the president over the war, or that I’m a “stealth liberal” like Andrew Sullivan, or that I don’t have the stomach to see the war through, THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. The only reason Iran is going to be generating electricity using our technology is because THEY WON.

To borrow a phrase, with great multilateral power comes great multilateral responsibility. An Iranian version of Operation Desert Storm would solve the problem, but how many nations would be willing to contribute troops? Iran’s Arab neighbors and its European “partners in peace” are threatened as much as we are, so why is it America’s and/or Israel’s responsibility alone to rise to the occasion if need be?
Anyway.

No wonder Ahmadinejad was so anxious to publish the secret American offer. Think how many other countries will have a lightbulb moment once they find out they too can have reactors of their very own.
