Sensenbrenner Says Pathways To Citizenship = Amnesty

“The words ‘path to citizenship’ is a buzzword for amnesty. We ought to be honest, it is amnesty,” said Rep. James Sensenbrenner, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
That is a position that a majority of Americans are taking as we call for a physical barrier, enforcement of our immigration laws, heavy fines for those who employ illegal aliens, and tamper-proof guest worker documents. The problem is not our laws, it’s enforcement. Outside of the low fines for being caught employing an illegal alien, our laws are sufficient if only enforced.
Sensenbrenner was asked on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday if he would accept any legislation that would put illegals on a path to citizenship. His answer:
“NO”
Sensenbrenner seems to be one of the few on Capital Hill willing to stick his neck out and say what the American people are saying. It seems to me that the Senate gave into the images of millions of illegals and their supporters taking to the streets. And in doing so, agreed to a comprimise which violates our nation’s sovereignty.
Senator Dick Durban agreed that our first priority should be border enforcement. But then he went on to say:
“And then, finally, we have to deal with the people who are here living in the shadows. It’s not amnesty. It’s not automatic. As Senator Frist explained, it’s a long, tough process that many of them will not complete successfully, but at least gives them a chance.”
Senator Frist was a bit cagey when asked about the immigration bill. He said that he would accept a comprehensive bill comprimise.
“I personally would, because I think, first and foremost, you’ve got to lock down the borders. You can’t allow this hemorrhaging of millions of people.”
And Senator Chuck Hagel was fully on the side of the amnesty whores by adding his 2 cents worth.
“Amnesty. That’s nonsense.”
The only thing that I see agreement on is going after employers. Is this a new revelation to these pinheads? If you eliminate the incentive for coming here in the first place, that in itself will at least slow the flow and possibly get a couple million to go back on their own.
You can’t discuss any sort of guest worker program or pathways to citizenship until you STOP the incoming flow. That’s like wiping off blood from a cut without applying pressure. You are doing nothing but inviting more blood.
The fine for employing just one illegal alien should be enough to become a financial burden on the biggest corporation in the United States. If Microsoft and Walmart were to suffer for being caught with just 1 illegal, how do you think that would impact Joe Moron Construction? That would put old Joe in the poor house. The fine should be accompanied by a jail term of 10 years for the owner or CEO and 5 years for the Director of personnel for each illegal.
Federal funding to state and local governments should be withheld if any state or community decides that they will not assist in enforcing our nation’s immigration laws. Declare you city a “Sanctuary City” for illegals, and you get zero, nada, nothing in federal funding until your city reverses its decision.
We need a multi layer physical barrier the whole length of the southern border. To include, but not limited to, a solid material wall, fencing, barrier trenches, razor wire, and sensors. The wall, fencing, trenches, razor wire, and sensors should be used in border towns and known high traffic crossing points. Fencing, trenches, razor wire, and sensors in areas of less traffic crossing. And trenches, razor wire, and sensors in all other areas of the border.
The trenches should be a minimum of 8′ deep and layered with razor wire (multiple rolls). The fence should be topped with at least 2 rolls of razor wire and employ vibration sensors that would alert border patrol dispatching centers to a crossing in progress. Sensors should also be randomly located in the razor wire deployed in the barrier trenches.
The order of physical barriers should be, trench, fence, trench, patrol road, trench, wall. The wall should be made from prefabricated concrete, topped with razor wire, and employ motion sensors which trip an alarm at the border patrol dispatch centers and trigger flood lights. There should be guard towers positioned no further than 5 miles apart in rural areas and 1/2 mile apart in urban areas. The towers should be equipped with ship to shore binoculars, night vision (both infrared and thermal imaging), and communications equipment in order to alert field agents to the violation of the security perimeter.
All along the security zone there should be seismic sensors to detect tunneling. These types of sensors are currently used in Korea to detect infiltration tunneling.
Guest worker documentation should be encripted with biometeric information that could be varified via computer with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Any guest worker program should require registration and issue in the country of origin at the US Consulate or Embassy. No guest worker documentation should be issued inside the US. The same should apply to temporary residents and students. Approvals for employment should be applied for and granted when they apply for a vista to enter the country.
The practice of catch and release with a court date should end. Aliens caught without documentation should be immediately deported. The only need for Immigration Court should be in the case of political refugees from nations hostile to the United States.
Critics to the fencing and/or wall plans being discussed say that it would be too costly to construct the wall and fencing. Well I say that the revenue saved by securing our border, ferretting out the illegals, prosecuting those who employ them, and ultimately keeping those billions of dollars from leaving our economy annually would well more than pay for the construction of the barrier and hiring of additional border patrol agents. Cost of documentation could be passed on to the applicant.
The money savings alone in social services would be a boost to all of the states. Medicaid wouldn’t nearly be as streched.
Then this nation needs to pass the Fair Tax. In the Fair Tax plan, any and all taxes would be abolished in favor of a national sales tax on all end user consumer goods and services only. One of the benefits that has yet to be addressed in discussions about the Fair Tax is that there are literally billions of dollars in our economy that is going untaxed. If you remove the tax on income and switch it to spending, then the money is taxed now isn’t it.
How this relates to the dicussion at hand is that there is no way that we can get 100% of the illegals out. But those couple of hundred thousand who slip under the wire will still need to buy products to live. Those products are taxed. The same for illicit industries such as prostitution, drugs, unclaimed income made by bartenders, waitresses, and those who do handyman work under the table just to name a few.
