Iran Threatens U.S. With ‘Harm and Pain’
Posted on March 8, 2006
Words are getting quite heated over Iran.
Iran threatened the United States with “harm and pain” Wednesday for its role in hauling Tehran before the U.N. Security Council over its nuclear program.
But the United States and its European allies said Iran’s nuclear intransigence left the world no choice but to ask for Security Council action. The council could impose economic and political sanctions on Iran.
The statements were delivered to the 35-member board of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is meeting to focus on Tehran’s refusal to freeze uranium enrichment.
The meeting is in effect the last step before the Security Council begins considering Iran’s nuclear activities and international fears they could be misused to make weapons. It began with both Iran and nations which oppose its enrichment plans sticking to their positions, reflecting the deadlock that prompted the IAEA board to seek Security Council intervention.
“The United States has the power to cause harm and pain,” said a statement delivered by the Iranian delegation. “But the United States is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if that is the path that the U.S. wishes to choose, let the ball roll.”
The statement did not elaborate on what Iran meant by “harm and pain,” and Iranian officials were not immediately available to comment.
But diplomats accredited to the meeting and in contact with the Iranians said the statement could be a veiled threat to use oil as an economic weapon.
Iran is the second-largest producer within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, and a boycott could target Europe, China or India.
Many dreamers are still holding out hopes of talks, despite constant deceit from Iran. They certainly can’t be trusted, nor can we accept them having nuclear weapons. The question to the international community is how to stop this. This Country is a state sponsored terrorism, and can’t be reasoned with. Their leader thinks he is preparing the way for their messiah who will bring the entire world under the rule of Islam. Some are suggesting sanctions, however Russia and China, which have Security Council vetoes, could very well foil those plans. Besides that fact, it is hard to trust a corrupt U.N. to actually sanction them effectively. We thought we had Iraq sanctioned too, but we all see the underhanded stuff that went on there. I don’t have any inside information, but my strong hunch is that war with Iran is inevitable. I don’t know how long we will continue to play the diplomacy route, but there is little doubt that it will eventually fail. Call me a warmonger if you will, but I just can’t see diplomacy working with this country.

For a couple months now I have been reporting on Iran. We should also keep a very close eye on Russia too….To me Russia will end up being the biggest threat.
P.s. Just linked you…hope that was okay.
Russia could be a problem. I tend to think China is the biggest threat.
Threats like these combined with North Korea’s inability to control the firing of conventional surface to air missiles makes it imperative that we use “what ever means necessary” to prevent these two rogue nations from acquiring nuclear capabilities.
I still say we fire a warning shot. More info HERE.
