Alito Confirmed As Next Associate Justice To the United States Supreme Court

Posted on January 31, 2006

yay!
Majority of Senators Vote to Confirm Alito
The Senate voted to approve the nomination by a vote of 58-42.

Samuel Anthony Alito Jr., the son of an Italian immigrant and a longtime lawyer, prosecutor and judge, was confirmed as the 105th Supreme Court justice in one of the most partisan voites for a high court nominee in modern history.

Although senators are still voting, a majority have already cast votes in favor of President Bush’s choice to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

Alito, 55, planned to watch his confirmation from a television in the White House’s Roosevelt Room.

The former U.S. appeals court judge will quickly be sworn in at the Supreme Court before his expected appearance at Bush’s annual State of the Union speech Tuesday evening with the White House’s other new Supreme Court judge, Chief Justice John Roberts.

I’m sure all the dems and ACLU types are devestated! Yay! The dems are losing control over a branch of government they have had in their grip for over 80 years.

Today the Senate took up the question of the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to become the 105th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court replacing Justice Sandra Day-O’Connor. The Senate voted to approve the nomination by a vote of 58-42.

Democrats voting in the majority were, Senators Byrd, Conrad, Johnson, and Nelson (NE). Republican voting in the minority - Chafee. And the Senate’s only Independent, Spineless Jeffords voted in the minority.

Prior to the vote, we had to endure closing remarks by the Dick with the Turban, I mean Dick Durban, and the devil himself, Chucky Schumer. I just love how these idiots can determine how Judge, excuse me, Justice Alito will vote in the future. I love the fact that Chucky and his cohorts have a crystal ball that can tell them such matters. Where were they on September 10, 2001?

Leahy and his pals kept beating the dead horse about the Miers nomination. They all seem to actually believe that the President withdrew her nomination. If memory serves me correctly, Miers withdrew her own nomination. She did so for the sake of protecting the law. Because she knew that the Judiciary Committee would attempt to force the violation of attorney/client privilege.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a chronic insomniac. But I think I’ve found a cure. Harry “The Imbecile” Reid’s voice. That man could put out amphetamine freaks. Additionally, by my clock, they let him speak 4 minutes over his time. What happened to the time keeper in the Senate?

Break out the Koolaid. There are 42 Senators who are in dire need of a drink. Not to mention the couple of million left-wing radicals who are at this time crying enough to force Noah to pair them up one more time.

Today’s vote is a victory for America. Today the Supreme Court has been taken out of the pocket of the ACLU and other liberal activist groups who cannot get their agenda advanced by way of the ballot box. And put the control of the nation and her laws back into the hands of the elected legislators. We should all be dancing in the streets.

***Note: Justice Samuel Alito is now the Supreme Court’s appeals link to the 9th Circus. BONUS!

I recall, with great joy, seeing the media coverage of the Peoples’ Republic of MashYourTeethNuts representatives, Senators Kennedy and Kerry, as they spoke just prior to the quashing of the limp attempt at filibuster they engendered among their colleagues.

I rarely root for an episode of full cardiac arrest, but it appeared that such would occur without my entreaties when you view the tirade from the bellicose one, The Swimming Instructor. Kerry was to indulge us at the other extreme and raised his level of ‘emoting’, as only he can, to a somnambulistic state in causing me to snooze off.

All in all, a Great Day on Earth under Heaven’s Gaze. Even the ethereal souls must have rejoiceth.

The gang of 14 , of which there are only 7 Democrats, didn’t seem to make a difference, 25+7=32 not 41 needed for a filibuster. They only got 3 more that the 22 Democrats who stated from the beginning they would not vote for Alito no matter what the hearings showed. Plus 4 Democrats that are not complete Party Hacks voted for Judge Alito. This was an embarrassment for the Democrats, Especially John “Lurch” Kerry and Eddy, yes short for Edward is Ed not Ted, Kennedy.

Be careful what you ask for.

The Democrats are all about diversity and multiculturalism. You know, Government should look like America. Well, we are a nation of people decesnded from immigrants and Justice Alito is the son of Italian Immigrants. The nomination shows that diversity is in play in the USA.

I am glad that it is finally over!!

  27. THE GALVIN OPINION on January 31st, 2006 1:43 pm

    SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ALITO: FINALLY
Democrats use filibuster as a “legitimate” way to block Supreme Court nominees. Will it be so shocking if 41 Democrats favor a filibuster for the next nominee? I don’t think so.

  28. kender on January 31st, 2006 1:59 pm

peter bella, “diversity and multiculturalism” is part of the problem……the fact that people are not assimilating into the AMERICAN CULTURE is a major source of sontention and problems in the U.S.

You nailed it on the head when you said that Alitos nomination showed diversity in action……it highlights diversity in a good way….Alito’s family obviously assimilated…..and did it well, eh?

    Coffin is Being Nailed Shut
Liberalism is not winning at the ballot box, so the only way to push for it is through activist judges creating new laws either not meant to be according to the Constitution (i.e. separation myth) or not even in the Constitution at all (i.e. abortion).

Though some liberals may say this was a close vote; I think it just shows the inability of so many Senators to ignore liberal partisan groups. Judge Alito deserves this nomination based on his credentials, qualifications, experience, integrity and education… The Supreme Court is now heading in the right direction. Congrats Justice Alito!
