Mexican Military Invades Texas?
Posted on January 24, 2006
Apparently so, and it seems to be happening with some regularity.
SIERRA BLANCA, Texas – Men dressed as Mexican Army soldiers, apparent drug suspects and Texas law enforcement officers faced off on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande, an FBI spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Andrea Simmons, an agency spokeswoman in El Paso, told The Associated Press that Texas Department of Public Safety troopers chased three SUVs, believing they were carrying drugs, to the banks of the Rio Grande during Monday’s incident.
Men dressed in Mexican military uniforms or camouflage were on the U.S. side of the border in Texas, she said.
Simmons said the FBI was not involved and referred requests for further details to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario, Calif., reported Tuesday that the incident included an armed standoff involving the Mexican military, suspected drug smugglers and nearly 30 U.S. law enforcement officers. It said Mexican military Humvees were towing what appeared to be thousands of pounds of marijuana across the border into the United States.
The incident follows a story in the Bulletin on Jan. 15 that said the Mexican military had crossed into the United States more than 200 times since 1996.
Chief Deputy Mike Doyal of the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Department told the newspaper that Border Patrol agents called for backup and were joined by Hudspeth County deputies and DPS troopers. Mexican army personnel had several mounted machine guns on the ground more than 200 yards inside the U.S. border, the newspaper said.
Doyal said deputies captured a Cadillac Escalade that had been reported stolen from El Paso, and found 1,477 pounds of marijuana inside. He said Mexican soldiers set fire to one of the Humvees stuck in the river.
The site is near Neely’s Crossing, about 50 miles east of El Paso, it said.
“It’s been so bred into everyone not to start an international incident with Mexico that it’s been going on for years,” Doyal said. “When you’re up against mounted machine guns, what can you do? Who wants to pull the trigger first? Certainly not us.”
More on this as it develops, but my nickels worth at the moment is that Bush won’t send troops to make certain our border is secure, the open borders crowd will say it is drug smugglers masquerading as Mexican military and the ACLU will defend the rights of the criminal aliens breaking into our country everyday.

It is probably true in TX. It is certainly true in AZ. The Arizona Dept of Game and Fish warn hunters and fishermen not to go south of I10 because of “homeland security issues.” Armed hunters are not safe from the armed people, drug, and terrorists smugglers. There have been well publicized (not in MSM) death threats against the Border Patrol. American citizens and the Border Patrol are not safe in the southern 20% of Arizona. Our federal government has ceded the parts of AZ south of I10 to a foreign power. Still, 4 years after 9/11, President Bush maintains his open borders/mass amnesty policy. This only encourages more illegal immigration and the terrorists can just walk across an open border any time they please. It’s not if, but when, terrorists attack. Judge for yourself if the border situation is out of control.
This crap has gone on forever, I lived and worked from El Paso for many years and it happened ALL the time…
I am a hard core Conservative and I support GWB and this administration but for the life of me, I don’t understand GWB’s Mexican border policy and his views on illegals…
Only thing I DO take issue with from GWB, and he has lived in Texas for a lot of years, you’d THINK he would see it too…
The spin has already begun. Notice the article starts “Men dressed as Mexican Army soldiers” as opposed to “Mexican soldiers.” Our military is useless if we don’t even have the will to use it to defend our borders from armed incursion by a foreign government.
I’m right there with TexasFred. I live in El Paso right now - don’t even get me started about all of this. They just raised our taxes AGAIN. Our public schools and public hospitals are really hurting from people using them and not paying their bill or taxes.
I’ll watch the local news tonight and see what they say…
There sure is a war going on at the border, no doubt about that!
The US Border Patrol lacks the resources and manpower to fight it.
1-2 trillion dollars will be spent on the war in Iraq and still, our borders are unsecure and Bin Laden is making video for Al Jazeera.
Our country is not in the business of nation rebuilding. Do the job and leave.
Last week during an interview with Chertoff on an NBC morning show, he said that a fence (cost 8 billion), was not needed and they would fight it otherwwise.
Fences worked for Germany, China and Israel, why not us?
Because illegals bring cheap labor and buy homes in US giving the banking system millions in interest. (See article - Wells Fargo to give mortgages to illegals http://www.kfmb.com/story.php?id=35306).
How do we fight a war on terror when our borders are wide open, and that includes Mexican drug runners and Al Qaeda?
The MSM sure has kept a tight lid on this but thanks to the blogosphere, the word is getting out.
(sorry about the double pingback - glitch of some sort on our blog)
Also - our local news reported that it is doubtful that it was Mexican Army. The army in this area doesn’t have humvees. Bottom line though is that whoever they ARE they are heavily armed.
Regime change in Mexico? Pancho Villa Revisited?
More likely drug smugglers dressed as Mexican soldiers. Probably not the real deal.
“More likely drug smugglers dressed as Mexican soldiers.”
That is even more frightening.
We are being invaded nonetheless. It is time for the military to be deployed at the border.
According to an interview with a member of the Border Patrol, at least some are legit Mexican Army. He related that when they caught a group, they checked their id. They came back as real Army. Word came down from that they had to return the arms and vehicles to the suspects and release them immediately. Which was done. Some may be posing as MA, however, others are the real thing.
Note that many of these Mexican forces have been trained by the US in anti-drug operations/procedures.
It’s time to heavily arm the Border Patrol, triple their numbers, change their standing orders from “run and hide” to “stand your ground and shoot to kill”, and uncover every person along the way, to, and including Washington, that has thrown up hurdles against border defence and replace them. Lastly, find out what Fox has on Bush and get it out in the open. Money can’t explain the deference that Bush has given Fox.
Our Armed Forces are not a police force; they are a killing force that follow a totally different set of rules that does not belong on the border. Give the Border Patrol what they need and untie their hands. Can you say “carte blanche”? Reassess the situation in a year.
I reiterate that it is time to deploy the U.S. military along the border. A police force at the border will not be nearly as effective as the military, regardless of how “untied” their hands are, for police forces still have to consider the rules of policing, while the military gets true “carte blanche”, or freedom, to follow and carry out their lawful orders, and those orders should simply be: “Hold The Line”

Seems others share your view. However, I respectfully disagree, still.
zhu…..thanks for the pics and the story. It’s a good start. If the criminal aliens that were vreaking into teh country every year all had a gun it would be considered an invasion and tehmilitary would stop it cold.
The border should not be a passive barrier, simply sitting there unwatched and unpatrolled while we hope that people don’t break the law…..it should be actively secured, patrolled and people should expect that if they sneak across it they will be caught and punished.
Cannot say if there is any truth to it, but did hear a caller to tallk radio say Jeb Bush married and illegal immigrant and that is why President Bush’s sympathy is with them and not national security.
Anybody know anything about this?
Rumor or true?
Alot of the immigration debate I’ve been reading about and listening to can be broken down into a few categories: ” Border security”, encompassing such ideas as putting the National Guard on the Mexican border, or building a wall, or hi-tech surveillance measures, to stop potential terrorists from entering through Mexico. The “amnesty or expell” debate, involving the fate of the estimated 10 million plus illegals in the USA. This one divides into several aspects to consider. The third category is the economic cost/benefit of illegal immigration, and the impact of any action taken to limit it. Finally is the crime category, with illegal immigrants comprising a majority of prisoners in many border state jails. Each of these categories relates to the others, to some degree.
–I delve into all of these topics in my latest LEAVWORLD rant, about Illegal Immigration. I implore you to go read it.
If Jeb married an “illegal alien” she would automatically become a citizen, so that would be a moot point, which makes me doubt seriously any validity to the claim. Interesting angle though, and a new oen.
Leavitt, I will be reading your rant asap, but wish to point out that I believe the cost/benefit ratio, regardless of what it may actually be or is claimed to be, is NOT a factor that should be counted in any way.
Amnesty will be the beginning of the wave that will take this country down, and for a good primer on that, one should read this article here, which I will be covering shortly.
