Michigan ACLU at it Again!
Posted on January 13, 2006
The ACLU of Michigan is taking aim at unraveling the Michigan Marriage Protection Ammendment that voters approved by a large majortity in the Nov. 2004 elections.
“KALAMAZOO, Mich. - An attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund has written a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of the Michigan Family Forum to defend the voters of Michigan against the ACLU’s latest attempt to undermine marriage. An ADF-allied attorney filed the brief Thursday with the Michigan Court of Appeals.”

Hey y’all, God hates fagots. Keep listening to scare America and watching CNN one day you’ll witness something that will give you a moment of clarity and you’ll wonder how did you allow yourself to be fooled by so many you trusted. Don’t worry though, until then the ACLJ will defend your right to be a hateful bigot as long as you are only hurting yourself. Could someone from this dark side of liberal communism tell me where it says in the constituion that some citizens should be discriminated against?
Oh yes, and the “majority” doesn’t have any more rights than the minority in this great country. That’s what the Constitution is for. Honestly, if you don’t like freedom and liberty for all, why are you sticking around here and stinking up the place?
go play with the bigots who hate america at democratic underground.
Bing VanGordon: The Constitution doesn’t make any statements regarding homosexuality, because our forefathers did not have to deal with whining liberals who want everyone to have the same rights except those that oppose them. Our Constitution does, however, “guarantee all states a Republican form of government.” This would be a government of elected officials. The majority does not have more rights than the minority, but the majority decides the issues, and (in theory) the officials represent the majority. That is what the majority is for. We don’t let the minority decide elections. If you would rather live in a communist country there is always Cuba. Same-sex marriages was voted down nation-wide with a 77% majority. Again, in a Republican government such as the one we live in, the majority has the power. Deal with it.
“…the ACLU’s latest attempt to undermine marriage.”
These ADF idiots will hang themselves with their own rhetoric. Even those opposed to gay marriage, civil unions or whatever they’re called should recognize that it is stupid to claim that advocating for legally sanctioned same-sex partnerships is “an attempt to undermine marriage.” At worst it’s an attempt to expand marriage beyond church-defined parameters, but no one is actively seeking to destroy anything.
I have to wonder why anyone gives a rip whether gay people can be married or not. This is clearly a a case of “mind your own business.” Would gays marrying willy-nilly force any of us heteros to get divorced because there are only so many marriages to go around? Jesus wept.
I love how fundamentalist Christians will agaitate agianst gays at every opportunity, trying their best to make it impossible for them to marry, adopt children, and hold certain jobs, and will go so far as to try to organize boycotts of gay-friendly corporations…then they’ll claim that an overly society is trying to marginalize them and swipe their rights. Biggest, most odious bunch of hypocrites in the free world.
apostle, you have no understanding of civics. Politicians aren’t there to simply do the will of the majority with respect to all issues. What do you suppose would happen in rural Georgia or Alabama if a referendum came up addressing the legality of barring blacks from certain enterprises or proposing to legalize firing people on the basis of sexual orientation? The majority of people are too stupid to do anything other than make inarticulate grunting sounds, which is why we have elevted officials in the first place. Look how many Americans believe in psychics, Ouija boards, astrology, magnets as healing devices, and the Book of Genesis. If the majority were allowed to run roughshod over the country, this place would soon resemble a medieval theocracy.
Bush’s approval rating has dipped into the high 30’s in recent months. So given the clear consensus among Americans, why aren’t the bloggers here complaining about him?
“Why aren’t the bloggers here complaining about him?”
This blogger does quite frequently, though not for reasons you would. He isn’t conservative enough for me. This site usually doesn’t talk about Bush. Liberals complain about Bush because he’s Republican, and most of his ideas actually make sense. I complain about him because he could be doing so much more than what he has since 2004, yet decides to play politics.
“Politicians are not there to simply do the will of the majority with respect to all issues.”
First of all, my civics understanding is fine. Yes, I’m well aware that officials don’t just arbitrarily roll with the majority in every aspect. Otherwise, the homosexuals would completely control Massechusetts. But when 77% of America say “No, marriage has always been defined as a union between a man and a woman,” then the politicians dumb enough to ignore them must and probably will be voted out. I’m not talking about some kind of legal action against them. But the majority of America, while not squashing the rights of the minority, must have the louder voice, otherwise, we may as well not have elections.
Marrying homosexuals is undermining marriage, because before this debate hit mainstream marriage was defined as being between a man and a woman. What liberals are trying to do is like saying the sky is no longer blue. There has to be absolutes society can count on. This garbage that “truth is relative” would mean total anarchy if left unchecked. That is why we don’t let adults marry minors, or pedophiles marry children. Because right and wrong isn’t individual or circumstancial. There has to be a standard this country’s law is based on, and that is exactly why our forefathers, Christian and deist alike agreed to have the Bible as a foundation.
“These ADF idiots will hang themselves with their own rhetoric.”
Wrong. Liberals and liberal Democrats will continue to hang themselves by passing same-sex marriage in other states. The ACLU will continue to alienate the majority of America from itself. The politician in MI want to get re-elected.
“This is clearly a case of “mind your own business.”
Its a state issue, as it should be. MI is taking care of itself, and protecting healthy families. If your gay and you want to marry, move to Oregon.
“Would gays marrying willy-nilly force any of us heteros to get divorced because there are so many marriages to go around?”
If there were only so many marriages to go around, then yes, absolutely. They’d scream and cry about fairness and equal opportunity and whine about how their rights as a minority are not being protected, and how there should be equal amount to go around and man was that a run-on sentence. Liberalism is only one step away from communism after all.
“Biggest, most odius bunch of hypocrites in the free world.”
I see you can’t post without insulting Christians. Fine. You’ve just established that you are bigoted right across the board. Christians and every other rational human being would rather to gays did not adopt children and teach them something like that is perfectly natural when it is not. If it is, so is pedophilia, another sexual preference. Marriage is between a man and a woman and always has been. The liberal assumption is that if people have the urge, then they were born with it and its perfectly natural. There is no scientific evidence to support that its natural, that’s for sure. I have the urge to hit liberals over the head with a shovel, so I guess I was born with my preferences too. And for your information, Christians are just as concerned with unwed male and female couples living together as we are gays. We’re concerned about anything that devalues, and ultimately destroys, healthy families.
“then they’ll claim that an overly society is trying to marginalize them and sweep their rights.”
The fact that you apparently believe otherwise proves you’ve been asleep for the past 5 years.
Hadol Stated “Even those opposed to gay marriage, civil unions or whatever they’re called should recognize that it is stupid to claim that advocating for legally sanctioned same-sex partnerships is “an attempt to undermine marriage.” At worst it’s an attempt to expand marriage beyond church-defined parameters, but no one is actively seeking to destroy anything.”
Oh really?? lets look at the real facts!! Every country around the world that has legalized same sex marriage, or civil unions has seen traditional marriage attacked, and run down. Pull your head out of your [edited] and see the truth!
Bing stated “the ACLU will defend your right to be a hateful bigot as long as you are only hurting yourself.”
Lets explore that comment for a moment? First, in a free nation, I have the constitutuional right to disagree, even to hate anyone or anything i want, get over it!
Secondly, what God hates is SIN! and he calls homosexuality a SIN!
Hadol, The government of this country is elected to represent us, if they don’t do that, we kick em out! I thought you liberal idiots would have learned your lesson in the last election when you got your butts handed to you by the majority, but i guess liberals are as stupid as they look?
“Biggest, most odius bunch of hypocrites in the free world.”
I agree, liberals are the biggest hypocrites in the free world!
apostle,
This one is for you but it is going to tick you off.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48336
Hey Apostle - he/she/it can’t get married in Oregon anymore, we too passed the marriage between one man and one woman amendment to our state constitution (Thank God). The amendment was upheld by our state supreme court and gay’s attempts to circumvent the law and set up ‘civil unions’ was held up during the last state legislature session. Yeah, we’ve got more than our fair share of liberals out here, but we also have a few people with some brains. Also someone referred someone else to go live in Cuba - if I’m correct, Cuba and communism in general doesn’t like the gay lifestyle.
“I’m well aware that officials don’t just arbitrarily roll with the majority in every aspect. Otherwise, the homosexuals would completely control Massechusetts.”
Right. The fact that gays fight for the right to marry implies that they want to control the entire world and convert everyone to queerdom. Criminy roared.
News flash: Not every identity group thinks like fundies do. It’s only the religious people in thsi country who wish to impose their will and stench-ridden world view on others using the court system. They’re undeniably the ultimate enemy of liberty.
If a couple of dudes want to punch each other’s barking spiders, what different does it make to you? Don’t say it’s “immoral.” Unless they’re trying to bugger you or a family member, it’s none of your freakin’ business. They’re not depriving you of life, liberty or property. Gays don’t care how often you cuff the carrot or about any other aspect of your sex life, so you should extend them the same respect, even if tacitly.
“There is no scientific evidence to support that its natural, that’s for sure.”
At least you’re consistent. Your knowledge of psychobiology parallels that of your understanding of evolution. If you were ever awarded a high-school diploma, someone needs to answer for how this occurred without your knowing anything at all about science. But then we know the public-school system’s a wreck and that many private schools don’t actually teach anything, so there you are.
Let me amend my prior statement about your understanding of civics, as it was too narrow: You don’t understand anything about science, politics or human nature. That doesn’t leave much, unless you’re a Jerry Springer fan (or guest).
“Secondly, what God hates is SIN! and he calls homosexuality a SIN!”
Blah blah blah. It was annoying at first that I couldn’t find my Haldol, but if you believe that any of that Bible bunk was actually divinely inspired rather than cobbled together from pre-existing legends, then I can only hope you’re the one who stole it, ’cause you bloody well need it.
“You don’t understand anything about science, politics or human nature.”
Add to this basic 4th-grade grammar.
Anybody (yo Apostle) that continually slaughters the the English language with the improper use of there, their they’re its and it’s is enough to send us educated li-ber-als scrambling for a same-sex partner.
Yet another example of why the far left fringe of America must be conquered! They are evil, hateful, and immoral people who think of themselves as intelligent when they are in actuallity great fools!
Again for the commies that missed it the first time!
In a free society I have the right to hate anything and anyone i want to, and the right to say so!
The whole concept of individual liberty comes from the Bible you IDIOT!
You liberal communuists are the greatest threat to freedom, quit lying about what you really stand for!
Quit hiding behind the idea of freedom, while you are really about communism, and anti-freedom! Freedom and liberty does not give you the right to just do anything you want to, there must be bounderies that are enforced with society, that is why homocide is a crime. If we operated society by your brand of anti-morallity, we would have to legallize homocide, and let all the maniacs out of the prisons.
You liberals just don’t think at all! You just walk that evil party line, spouting all that commie dribble that you learned in the government run indoctrination centers of America! You don’t know how to think for yourself, your mind is not open at all!
What homo’s do in thier own homes is of course thier business, agreed. When they start pushing thier nazi agenda through the courts, and into the schools to poison the minds of little kids, then it becomes my concern!
I have the right, and the moral responsibility to protect my children from the corrosive, and corrupt information being taught in schools, and in society!
I will keep protesting the left as long as it takes to win this war!!
Methinks “Bulldoze the ACLU” is a closet liberal who’s flogging this for all it’s worth. Well done. (Your comments, however, won’t last unless you provide a valid link to a blog.)
“Yet another example of why the far left fringe of America must be conquered!”
Conquered with what? Hate?. Ya certainly got enough of that to spread around.
“In a free society I have the right to hate anything and anyone i want to, and the right to say so!”
And if ya ever get in trouble for it, give the ACLU a call. They’ll be glad to offer their support.
The whole concept of individual liberty comes from the Bible you IDIOT!
Chapter and verse please.
You liberal communuists are the greatest threat to freedom, quit lying about what you really stand for!
OK. I’ll give you that one. I quit lying.
“If we operated society by your brand of anti-morallity, we would have to legallize homocide, and let all the maniacs out of the prisons..”
Anything to make more room for you morons.
“spouting all that commie dribble that you learned in the government run indoctrination centers of America!”
Sister Loretta and her ruler taught me and my left-handed brother grammar.
“What homo’s do in thier own homes is of course thier business, agreed.”
Thank you for your acquience.
“When they start pushing thier nazi agenda through the courts, and into the schools to poison the minds of little kids, then it becomes my concern!”
It’s the establishment clause that keep the poison out of the minds of little kids. Didn’t you learn anything in civics?
“I have the right, and the moral responsibility to protect my children from the corrosive, and corrupt information being taught in schools, and in society!”
Good. Teach them your hatred at home for anybody not humping a bible, as a real education is reserved for us liberals.
“I will keep protesting the left as long as it takes to win this war!!”
Lotsa luck!
“Your knowledge of psychobiology parallels that of your understanding of evolution.”
Through that whole paragraph where you insulted my intelligence I missed the part where you had proven me wrong. Learn a new tactic. Like evidence.
Lobo: OOOUUUCCCCCHH. Did you see who led that charge? None other than my worthless Senator Arlen Spectre.
“You don’t understand anything about science, politics, or human nature.”
Once again, through your insults, I missed the part where you had proven me wrong.
“then I can only hope you’re the one who stole it.”
Yeah, and believing in your great grand-father’s King Kong and Godzilla is much better. Not to mention that infamous explosion that no one can prove.
“Anybody, (yo Apostle)that continually slaughters the English language.”
I was educated in a public school by atheist God-haters. Thanks for proving my point. Slaughter the English language? So I guess claiming two different words with two different meanings (like say theory and fact) can apply to the same idea would constitute as “slaughter.” Hear that Haldol?
“Conquered with what? Hate? You certainly got enough of that to spread around.”
Yes, libs like Air America’s Randi Rhodes calling for the Bush assasination definitly have enough hate. Not to mention mindless trolls that insult Christians for having their own beliefs.
“And if you ever get in trouble for it, give the ACLU a call, they’ll be glad to offer their support.”
You mean that organization that left every religous symbol on the California state flag and sued to have only the Cross removed? Please. If you libs are going to claim tolerance at least make a good showing.
“Chapter and verse please.”
Sure. James 1:25;Isaiah 61:1; Galatians 5:13(that one applies to this very debate quite nicely);1 Peter 2:16 (so does that one); Romans 8:21. There are plenty more. For the sake of time I refrained.
“Anything to make room for you morons.”
That sounds like hate. Careful your hypocrisy doesn’t show too blatantly.
“Its the establishment clause that keeps the poison out of the minds of little kids.”
Except little kids can read and comprehend it better than you apparently. But sure, “Thou shalt not kill” is a horrible thing to teach a child. Better to teach them how lucky they are not to have been aborted by atheist mom and dad.
“Teach them your hatred at home”
Gladly. Just as soon as queer rights protestors, womans lib protestors, and liberals of all shapes, sizes and colors shove their show at home.
“Lotsa luck.”
We don’t need it. We win elections. What’s better is Bush’s approval rating dropping and conservatives still lead in all the polls. Liberals keep shooting themselves in the foot with their HATRED. (Exhibit A: Alito’s wife leaving in tears due to the verbal railings her husband recieved. Way to share the love!)
This is just hilarious. A creationist who demands (but doesn’t acknowledge) evidence, all the while demanding that his Christian “beliefs” be respected, as if these beliefs — which bear no resemblance to anything outside of crass fairy tales — aren’t subject to the same evidentiary burdens. In other words, we’ve shown you ours, even if it baffles the living bejesus out of you. You’ve done nothing but squint, sputter and drool (which would be acceptable behavior if accompanied by, y’know, EVIDENCE).
Even more amusing: all throughout this beat-down you’ve been bumbling along with zero understanding of basic terms such as “theory” and “fact.” I’ll keep posting it until you start getting it. From Steve Gould this time:
“In the American vernacular, ‘theory’ often means ‘imperfect fact’—part of a hierarchy of confidence running downhill from fact to theory to hypothesis to guess. Thus creationists can (and do) argue: evolution is ‘only’ a theory, and intense debate now rages about many aspects of the theory. If evolution is less than a fact, and scientists can’t even make up their minds about the theory, then what confidence can we have in it?
“Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world’s data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein’s theory of gravitation replaced Newton’s, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid-air, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from apelike ancestors whether they did so by Darwin’s proposed mechanism or by some other, yet to be discovered.”
So in summary, you’re scientifically ignorant across every discipline, you’re iliterate, you don’t believe that women and men are deserving of equal treatment, and you favor the marginalization and harsh treatment of people on the basis of sexual preference. In other words, you are an organism with no palpable value. You are but an oxygen thief, apostle, and I hope you fully understand that in a country without organizations like the ACLU angling to protect you, you may well have been exterminated by the state or by your various societal betters owing to your dragging down every conceivable index of intellectual and moral standing in the population you inhabit.
Methinks “Bulldoze the ACLU” is a closet liberal who’s flogging this for all it’s worth. Well done. (Your comments, however, won’t last unless you provide a valid link to a blog.)
NO! I’m a hardcore Christian Conservative that is not afraid to fight hard for what he believes in!!
“as if these beliefs — which bear no resemblance to anything outside of crass fairy tales”
Our beliefs are our beliefs, and is what this nation was founded on, a firm belief in a benovolent God! It is not our fault if you don’t have any common courtesy or respect, so much for your tollerance ay!
” you don’t believe that women and men are deserving of equal treatment, and you favor the marginalization and harsh treatment of people on the basis of sexual preference.”
I favor telling the truth even if it hurts! Homosexuality is SIN! Not because I say so, because God say’s so! I really don’t care what you think about it, your not going to change my mind at all.
Like the man said, “We win elections” keep on pissing us off, we will only grow stronger because of it, persecute us at your own peril!
“A Creationist who demands..”
Never said I was a Creationist.
“We’ve shown you ours…”
What? You haven’t shown me anything! You just get pissed off because someone questions the credibility of your field, and you lash back with insults to our religion. That isn’t showing me anything, and again, I must have missed the part where you’ve proven me wrong.
I can see I made you angry, for which I’m grateful. It exposes all of the horrible qualities that your line of thinking considers “progress.”
“moral standing in the population you inhabit.”
Moral? What authority are you basing this concept on? Yours? Is the moral law of Haldol the moral law of the land? Is there some natural sense of right and wrong that we are all born with? Sorry, history says otherwise. Once again there has to be an absolute truth somewhere, and it isn’t learned in physics class. [edited] to National Geographic all you want, but you know full well deep down its all garbage, and that if anyone could really see just how confused you were you’d die of embarassment. Sarcasm and arrogance are good smokescreens. But if I believed I was an evolved chimp I’d feel pretty low as well. But remember, despite your many faults, Jesus still loves you. Everyone else thinks you’re weird.
“Never said I was a Creationist.”
Okay, so you’re someone who isn’t a creationist, yet rejects evolution anyway. At least creationists have an excuse for wearing blinders — they’re committed to doctrine. The only conclusion I can draw, then, is that your are simply ignorant.
“You haven’t shown me anything!”
Sure I have. I keep indicating that there’s no fact-theory dichotomy and you simply choose to ignore it. I provide clear explanations in an effort to allay your confusion and answers to the questions you raise and you ignore these as well. You’ve set the bar impossibly out of the reach of earthly reason so that you can continually squawk about not being provided with sufficient evidence. The fact that it’s not sufficient to convince a man with his fingers stuck in his ears screaming “LA-LA-LA!” doesn’t diminish its value. But have it your way.
“You just get pissed off because someone questions the credibility of your field, and you lash back with insults to our religion.”
I don’t get pissed off. And I’d say the same things about your religion whether you questioned basic scientific principles or not. Facts, as I have already noted, are facts whether or not people choose to accept them, and simple beliefs — no matter how powerful — are nothing more than beliefs in the absence of evidence. Sorry.
“I must have missed the part where you’ve proven me wrong.”
Repeatedly and tenaciously.
“I can see I made you angry, for which I’m grateful.”
That’s at least three times you’ve expressed glee over the idea of getting under my skin. I don’t get rankled when dealing with bone-shatteringly foolhardy folk; I become energized. But that aside, the eagerness to anger people is not exactly a hallmark of the alleged Christian mien, is it? Well, maybe the Pat Robertson version.
“Once again there has to be an absolute truth somewhere…”
See my comments under the post one or two entries above this one.
“…if I believed I was an evolved chimp I’d feel pretty low as well.”
Again, you demonstrate a supreme ignorance of evolution. Humans are not believed to have evolved from chimps. But you offer a glimpse into the reality of apostle here — it bothers you greatly that we share common ancestry with bonobos and chimpanzees, and you’re going to struggle with this for the rest of your life because at some level you understand that it;s the truth. Why be bothered by this? Primates are pretty darned smart, and cute too. I know it’s easier in some ways to cling to the idea that we all are descended from two people created from a dirt heap and a rib respectively, but the incurious simpleton’s way out has never gotten anyone anywhere except full of faith (and other stuff we won’t mention).
“Humans are not believed to be evolved from chimps.”
“Humans evolved from ape-like creatures.”
Hmmm. Close enough. Where did Bigfoot get to anyhow?
“Primates are pretty damn smart.”
If flinging poo constitutes as intelligence I guess.
“Not exactly a hallmark of the alleged Christian mien”
Sure it is. You expressing your very emotions this way give clear evidence that we are more than flesh and blood. We have spirits. That is what separates us from the animals. You’re right, facts are facts, and you don’t have any. You have beliefs, unless you’ve seen ape-like creatures evolve into a human. Even if you could back up your claims, you act as if science would somehow disprove God. All credible scientists agree that science can only take us so far. Even belief in the Big Bang Theory, science will never be able to tell why. But I’m sure you can.
“Hmmm. Close enough.”
No, not “close enough.” Is a dolphin a fish? You might think that saying so is “close enough,” but you’d sound like a jackarse if you did.
“You expressing your very emotions this way give clear evidence that we are more than flesh and blood.”
And no evidence that anything generated by our biological underpinnings (including that which we call “consciousness”) stems from a biblical creator.
“You expressing your very emotions this way give clear evidence that we are more than flesh and blood.”
We are distinct from the animals only in degree. That doesn’t mean that humanity is not as “special” or “powerful” or what have you as we as humans choose to label it; only that we are not chosen or otherwise held in any special regard by external agents in the universe. In short, nothing cares but us. This hardly diminishes the value I or anyones places on life.
“You have beliefs, unless you’ve seen ape-like creatures evolve into a human.”
The evidence for common ancestry afforded us by molecular genetics and embryology is overwhelming and growing stronger all the time. Since you can’t pretend to know what this evidence consists of, you are not in a position to dispute it.
Again, I am amused that even as you effectively assert that the only non-faith-based evidence for evolution would be a six-million-year-long motion picture or time-lapse film, you blindly claim that god is responsible for this and that. Your “evidence”? A book written by men in need of religious propaganda.
“You’re right, facts are facts, and you don’t have any.”
Given that you cannot distinguish fact from fiction and myth from history, your throwaway indictments do not concern me.
“Even if you could back up your claims, you act as if science would somehow disprove God.”
Wrong. Science is concerned with procuring and securing knowledge about the natural world, not in “disproving” (or “proving,” for that matter) anything. The burden of providing evidence for gods falls upon those who subscribe to them, and they of course can’t supply any. The fact that scientific discoveries (e.g., a heliocentric solar system; evolution; plate tectonics) routinely render skygod consructs less and less useful is a by-product of the knowledge-pursuing process, not its aim.
I’m quite certain you’ve noticed that the only aspects of science that religious types routinely complain about are those that render the Bible more and more ludicrous in terms of it being “inerrant” or even remotely historically accurate. This is not a coincidence.
“All credible scientists agree that science can only take us so far. Even belief in the Big Bang Theory, science will never be able to tell why.”
You’re clearly desperate to move the goalposts by repeatedly bringing up the Big Bang, the details of which scientists freely admit they do not have a grip on — yet. To pretend that the mistaken idea that “science can only take us so far” (given enough time, science will always further our knowledge about the universe, not detract from it) naturally leads to the conclusion that biblical deities are involved is just another clumsy “god of the gaps” argument, something near and dear to the shallow-minded religious crowd.
“Is a dolphin a fish? You might think that saying so is “close enough”, but you’d sound like a jackass if you did.”
Fair enough.
“This does not mean that humanity is not as “special” or “powerful.”
But then what makes us so? (The special part) Who are we special too?
“In short, nothing cares about us.”
Then it stands to reason that we shouldn’t care about anything. I also want to point out that there is nothing in science that makes the idea of God ludicrious. I don’t dispute the validity of science (I like to know when its going to rain) I’m disputing your arrogant claim that evolution is so undisputable and that belief in God constitutes some kind of lack in intelligence. This is more interesting since plently of the smartest people that have lived on this earth, including scientists, (like the ones that took us to the moon) believed strongly in God.
There is a way to fight the ACLU. Find out who their large donors are and demand that they stop giving them money or grants. The ACLU is anti everything that America Stands for and it is time to bankrupt them out of existence. If it works for Jesse jackson, it can work for us.
If these people, corporations, and organizations get a constant barage of letters and emails they will have to listen.
Peter Bella: I’d love to be proven wrong, but liberals have a surprisingly stronger stubborness than even us Christian zealots. But like I said, it’d be great to be wrong. Couldn’t hurt.
“’In short, nothing cares about us.’
Then it stands to reason that we shouldn’t care about anything.”
I disagree. Lack of extrinsic value does not imply lack of intrinsic value. I’ll never understand the people (and I’m not claiming you’re among them, though you may be) who seem to think that the lack of a compassionate (or moralizing, or punitive, or all three) deity somehow implies chaos and ruin. It is incumbent upon all of humanity to establish and advance its own value, achievement and harmony. Both the godless and the godly have sometimes failed dismally, and both have at different times done great things. If those who didn’t believe in the Abrahamic god were truly inclined toward anomie, the world would be a lot more fubar than it already is.
“Both the godless and the godly have sometimes failed dismally”
Though I disagree with the majority of that last post, I’ll call it a gentleman’s disagreement. We found common ground, however small. I’m willing to leave it at that.
Peter 2:16
“but he received a rebuke for his own crime: a mute beast spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.”
How apropos; a talking ass
