Via: Michelle Malkin, All Things Beautiful has a great article called The D Stand For Defeat
Ed Morrisey writes:
AFTER THE MURTHA COMMENTS, the GOP challenged the Democrats to go on record with a Congressional vote for retreat. Almost the entire Democratic caucus cut and ran from their embrace of the cut-and-run strategy–the House voted against the non-binding resolution for immediate withdrawal 403 to 3. The height of Democratic pusillanimity came when GOP Rep. Sam Johnson, a former Vietnam POW, asked for three extra minutes to complete his remarks. Several Democrats voiced objection. The speaker demanded that the members objecting identify themselves–and none would even stand for their own objection.
Since then, things have only gotten worse. John Kerry insisted that no Democrat had demanded a precipitous withdrawal or a timetable for retreat–and then demanded that the White House provide a timetable with dates for “transition of authority.” (In other words, after deciding at the end of last year’s election that the United States needed more troops in Iraq, he now demands a withdrawal after he demanded an escalation.)
At nearly the same time, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi held her own news conference demanding an immediate withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq. Her second in command, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, shot back that he wanted no withdrawal and instead wanted the nation to focus on victory. Meanwhile, Senator Joe Lieberman returned from his fourth trip to Iraq and wrote that Bush has a plan in place for winning the war–and that it’s was working. Democratic leadership respectfully disagreed with Lieberman’s assessment–and then changed course and suggested that Lieberman replace Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense.
Captain’s Quarters:
The Iraqis have more courage in their (purple) finger than Murtha has in his entire hysterical body. Shame on him, and shame on his party.
the Democrats have been calling us racists and fascists and homophobes and what have you for ages: all charges without an iota of fact behind them. Meanwhile, the Democrats - especially under Head Defeaticrat Howard Dean - have gone massively left and decidedly unpatriotic. Time to call them on it - give the American people the real choice in 2006: Do you want people who want to win, or people who want to quit?

Well, I’d like to track back to your lovely post, but Simpletracks says “oh, no you WON’T!” Anyway, Conservababes borrowed from you to post on our blog.
Thank you again for a fantastic blog. We love you!

Great ad. Glad you posted it Jay! Finally… GOP cohones.
This is good. Now Dean and Kerry are trying to backpedal and say they were taken out of context. Hmmm…I’ve heard that before. If they continue to be “taken out of context” perhaps they should work on being more concise. Boy they sure do hate having their own words used against them.
I’m just wondering how long the Republican-led government that has initiated, waged, lied about, and badly botched this war can continue blaming the powerless Democrats for its own mistakes.
Unfortunately, this can probably go on for years. As this blog indicates, the nation is filled with uncritical idiots who think labeling the other guy “unpatriotic” is a valid substitute for offering support for one’s own position. That’s right — if you can’t yank your head out of your own —, point fingers at the other guy and label him un-American!
There IS something we can do to demonstrate VICTORY!
I have been putting this out to fellow Bloggers, hoping to spread the word about this great idea for Iraqi election day:
Conservative radio personality Bill Bennet suggested that on Iraq’s upcoming election day (December 15th), in a show of support for the Iraqi people and our mission there, his listeners should also apply purple to one of their index fingers. This seemingly childish idea is clever in its subtlety. It will be like Ash Wednesday, without the ash (or religion)!
I think this is an excellent idea, and hope that many others will follow suit with the message HERE in America and elsewhere.
Cheers, Timmer
Those that feel Bush lied about his war evidence have yet to prove so, and I find it comical that Dems claim they never saw the same evidence. Damn near every major government in the world looked at the same intelligence and came up with the same conclusion. Now, merely to win elections, the left want to back-peddle and make baseless allegations.
