What A Reward For This School

Posted on December 2, 2005

The Barrington School District in Rhode Island is being given a wonderful reward for being responsible. You see they have banned a screening of the movie “Dirty Deeds”. The PG13 rated film was written by a former Barrington student, but was deemed inappropriate for student viewing by a review committee.

The committee’s decision was based on the movies content of vulgarity, violence, and sexual behavior. Which we can all agree is inappropriate for young audiences. And no matter how much liberal America wants to believe that teenagers are capable of handling such content, school is not the place for this content to be disseminated.

For being responsible and not showing this material to young audiences, the ACLU has criticized the school system saying the refusal of the school to show the film invites censorship.

Schools are notorious for being bastions of liberal indoctrination. And the heart of liberalism, the ACLU is criticizing it’s subjects. What a reward.

I have to admit I don’t know that movie, and so I don’t know its content. I also don’t know what grades would have been to watch it. I don’t believe that children should be exposed movies with lots of vulgarity, violence or sexual behaviour, but I think it is problematic how much violence and vulgarity is already shown in cartoons that mainly young kids are watching. Why is it ok to show kids cartoons where one charater kills another, or tries to (they usually survive the most cruel attempts), but as soon as it becomes a real movie it is a different matter…

The age of the kids who would have seen the movie, and the forum, would have been helpful details, here.

The senior cheerleaders watching clips of the dance routines for inspiration, for example, might be appropriate as opposed to fifth graders being shown the sexual scenes (or the parts about unwanted pregnancy and abortion) as a part of their sex ed curriculum, which would certainly not.

Careful with how you deploy cliches. The term “bastions of liberal indoctrination” traditionally applies to colleges and universities, not public grade schools. I suspect you have experience with the latter but perhaps not with the former.

You also left out a significant part of the story: The only reason the film was banned is because a pair of religiously motivated zealots badgered the school board until action was taken. These two troglodytes, who were hardly representative of Barringtonians’ general attitude, also wanted the screenwriter himself “banned.” Yessiree, they’re just an example of good old-fashioned and responsible Americans standing up for what everyone needs, not what they want! (Okay,so they’re really meddling, cross-eyed and worthless, but whatever.)

Also, we aren’t taling about an R-rated film here. Why is it acceptable to censor high-schoolers from watching a PG-13 film? Let me guess — even though the goverment agrees with the MPAA rating system, immoral is immoral and filth is filth, and existing laws and standards don’t matter when we protecting the tender minds of America’s teenagers is at stake. We can only discuss sex with them when reminding them that homos are evil.

Now you understand (riiiiiiiight) why groups like the ACLU get involved in situations like this. Wingnut douche bags have no respect for any authority besides their own, and they will relentlessly stomp their fat little feet and pound their pudgy little fists until someone acts on their behalf by bending or breaking freedoms. Someone whould taser them.

So according to CommieRebel, men never knew how to have sex until public education?

Okay, it’s been a while since I was in High School, but since when is it a requirement students be provided ENTERTAINMENT during school hours??? If they want to watch the movie and their parents approve, they can go to the theatre or watch it on cable. Incidentally, I have never heard of this movie.

By the way, what children need and what children want are not necessarily the same things. Surely your parents told you that at some point.

Further, sex education should not include deviant sexual lifestyles as acceptable options.

Also, teenagers act out because they are teenagers. That is what they do.

I don’t care if they watch the movie or not, but it’s not something a public school should be required to show during school hours.

I will teach my children morals and values as I see fit. You teach yours that they are entitled to everything and the world must cater to them and they should answer to no one so as not to belittle them or shelter them.

The following is from a website called kids-in-mind.com. It gives an independent movie rating and is quite descriptive for the movie Dirty Deeds. Decide for yourself if you’d like to have your 12 or 13 year old child watching this film in middle school. PS. I am one of many parents who agreed with the ban of both the movie and its adult screenwriter. I am not a “religiously motivated zealot” but a concerned parent in my community.

    From kids-in-mind.com:
A young man masturbates using a loaf of bread: we see rhythmic movement, we hear a squishing sound and a look of satisfaction on his face at completion; he then kisses the loaf of bread and then licks it (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details).
? We see a woman in black leather bra and panties and a man on his hands and knees on the floor while the woman whips him on the buttocks.
? A young woman sits on a bed in her bra and panties while a young man is in the bathroom: she says to him, “I’m ready,” another young woman comes in the room and caresses her shoulder, and another young man comes in the room, while the first young man comes out of the bathroom nude (below the waist is blocked form view); the other young man looks at him and is startled (the young women have run out of the room because the young man’s parents have come home).
? Two girls hug and kiss on the lips (it is implied that one is interested in having sex with the other). A young man and several different young women kiss passionately in his car, in several scenes. Also, young men and young women kiss in many scenes.
? Young women wear low-cut tops that reveal cleavage and bare abdomens and short, shorts and skirts that reveal bare legs. A young woman wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage. A man is bare-chested and in boxers when he answers the door.
? A young woman opens her shirt (she presumably shows her bare breasts) and gestures toward an older man to come toward her; he stands up but falls to the ground (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details).
? A dead man tips over and his head lands in the lap of a young man; a police officer misunderstands and thinks that there is sexual activity taking place.
