Kidnappers Threaten to Kill Iraq Activists
Posted on December 2, 2005
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Al-Jazeera television broadcast a videotape Friday in which kidnappers of four Christian peace activists threatened to kill their hostages unless all prisoners in U.S. and Iraqi detention centers are released. The kidnappers gave the two governments until Dec. 8 to meet their demands, Al-Jazeera quoted a statement delivered with the tape as saying.
What can I say? Giving in to their demands is not an option, and that sums it up.
The tape showed what the broadcaster said were two Canadian hostages. An American and a Briton are also being held. All four appeared frightened.
The two were calling on the U.S. and British governments to withdraw from Iraq, Al-Jazeera reported, quoting a statement from the kidnappers, who earlier identified themselves as the Swords of Righteousness Brigade.
What a coincidence! Our democratic party is calling the U.S. and British governments to do the same thing. I think we have made the message pretty clear now, the only option is victory. The supposed “peace makers” organization is called CPT for short. Anti Idiotarian Rottweiller notes: The four unfortunate Idiotarians had better start praying that the Coalition ignores their parent organization’s demand that no violence be used to free them. Because if they don’t… Oh well, goodbye, we hardly knew ye.
ABC confirms this group were pacifists idiots.
The Christian activists Tom Fox, 54, of Clear Brook, Va.; Norman Kember, 74, of London; James Loney, 41, of Toronto; and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, of Canada had been repeatedly warned by Iraqi and Western security officials that they were taking a grave risk by moving about Baghdad without bodyguards.

Watch this news story disappear!
Anything that might inspire support to the war or suggest we’re doing the right thing isn’t covered by the “mainstream” media. Those poor deluded people are going to be beheaded for sure.
Only we’ll never hear about it.
I’m just grateful that ten young U.S. Marines gave their lives today in the pursuit of freedom, courtesy of a roadside bomb. In fact, as time goes by, American soldiers are sacrificing their lives at an increasing rate, with today’s episode marking the highest one-event body count in months.
We need to remember that without our troops in Iraq, always a threat to invade America, we will never show the world that God is on our side. He in His inscrutable ways is drawing this conflict out in kind of a troubling way, but even if the leftist media has lost its faith, I sure haven’t! Liberate the Iraqis! Go Bush!
A more accurate headline:
The 4 ‘christian-hostages’
threaten to kill themselves.
It’s always been the hostages/activists themselves that have been demanding the US turn Iraq back over to the fascist Sunni minority and that Israel cease to exist so that all the world will live in peace… except for Aceh, and Nigeria, and Kashmir, and Bangladesh, and Macedonia, and Kosovo, and Bosnia, and… etc ad nauseum.
As for the FAKE christians posing as FAKE hostages?
The number of CPT missions in support of Palestinians has grown steadily, and now, consists of half the worldwide CPT activity in this period. Ten such visits are scheduled for 2005-06, including one in coordination with the United Church of Canada and one with a Franciscan group.
On 30 November 2005 the National and Islamic Forces in Hebron held a press conference to ask for the release of four CPTers being held by an Iraqi armed group. They released a joint statement expressing their “sorrow at the kidnapping of four of the peace advocates from the CPT in Iraq.”
The first speaker was Sheikh Najib Al Ja’abri, who hosted the press conference at the Ali Baka’a Mosque in the Haret e-Sheikh neighborhood of Hebron. He spoke of his warm sense of working together with CPTers over the years. The second speaker was Abdul ‘Alim Dana of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, followed by Fahmi Shahin, Coordinator of the National and Islamic Forces in Hebron, representing the Palestine People’s Party.
The Holy Spirit’s message on The Christian Prophet blog seems to say they chose their own death.
I have NOT one iota of sympathy for idealistic idiots who, after having been advised to not do what they intended, chose to ignore reason and put themselves in harm’s way.
These are loonies who, if they really do have the courage of their convictions, will enjoy becoming martyrs for a cause against all reason. I bid them Godspeed on their journey!
Those idiots of the ‘CPT’ are by NO MEANS CHRISITAN!!!!
OR CHRISTIAN!!!
I find it strangely surprising that I’m even here, having read this post and these replies. But what can I say? I know that if I tell you I am a liberal and a Quaker that you will not respect me or anything I say after this. There, that’s done it. I guess you can stop reading now. But if you do feel like continuing, I must say that none of you have any idea what you are talking about. I know Tom Fox. He also is a Quaker. Quakers are a Christian religious sect. We believe in peace, simplicity, and the ability of anyone to speak to God. There is that of God, or a piece of the divine Light or Spirit, inside every person, which is our core teaching. Tom Fox went to Baghdad for peace, at the calling of his inner light and hence his faith. He is there to help the Iraqi people in any way he can, and works with Christian Peacemaker Team, a Christian group working toward peace and giving impartial aid to those who need it. He is not an idiot. He is not a fool. He is there in service to what he believes is the right thing to do, as are the American and Coalition soldiers in Iraq right now. Shall I call them idealistic idiots for going to war for what you believe is a good cause? No. I won’t. I only ask that you respect the ideals, beliefs, faiths and actions of others. These peacemakers are there to help, not hurt. We should be praying for their lives and safety, not resigning ourselves to their deaths and then jeering at them for choosing this path in service to God and Man. We are all people. So how can you say that? I ask you. How can you say that?
Look…yes they are idiots for their beliefs. There is something else God gave everey person, and that is common sense. Well, some were obviously given less than others. I’m not resigning their death, I do pray they are rescued…I don’t think I ever said, anywhere that I hoped they died. However, I will take them to task for their beliefs. If you go unarmed to a gun fight, you are pretty stupid.
Jay, just because a belief is sincerely held doesn’t make it honorable. Despite their their benevolent intentions, their beliefs are repellent and their actions furthering those beliefs are to be condemned, because furthering their beliefs will deny freedom and bring misery to millions of people, and will also threaten the security of those who now live in freedom. The so-called peace activists who went to Iraq claim to have benevolent intentions, but they are nevertheless objectively evil. Their purpose is to thwart the best hope that Iraqis have for humane, representative self-government, and would leave Iraqis with the inevitable alternative of the cruelty of the head-choppers who, fittingly, have the “peace activists’” lives in their hands.
The real peace activists are wearing the uniforms of the US, Iraqi or coalition military. No organization has come close to bringing peace and freedom to as many people as has the US military.
Doh! Sorry Jay, you’re not stupid, light that shines is stupid.
CPT isn’t in Iraq to ruin its chances at success. Neither is that organization working there to put the country in the hands of the insurgents. They are peace activists. Is peace evil? They’re offering aid to the Iraqis, not trying to harm anyone. Tom Fox was promoting awareness of what is going on in Iraq now, of how the current operations aren’t working like they’re supposed to, and that some things need to change. They are ultimately in support of a free, stable Iraq and a strong government, which does not mean the insurgents in charge. In fact, I think it is quite the opposite. Also, they were there to make a statement - personal beliefs, religious callings, what you will. Not bearing arms (”thou shalt not kill”?) certainly goes along with both the Quaker tenet of pacifism and broader Christian teachings. Tom Fox I know was in Iraq for peace. Not against the USA, against the current governmentm, or even per se against the war, but for peace. Don’t assume, even for a moment, that he and his colleagues want to leave that country a shambles, under a dictatorial regime much like Hussein’s. They are there to help in whatever way they can. I don’t see how keeping a blog that talks about personal struggles in Fallujah has anything to do with supporting the insurgency.
And what kind of peace activist are you if you bring peace to a country through war?
Pacifism, and appeasment do nothing in fighting this evil. Perhaps their cause is noble, but I think you will soon find out it was naive as well.
O.K. Sneaky Bastard I’ll bite: Where is my oil? If this is all about oil, why are we paying almost 4 dollars a gallon for it? Even the Dems gave that argument up a long time ago. The proper interpretation of the Hebrew is “Thou shalt not murder,” btw. And we are doing to our neighbor as we would have them do to us: If we were ever ruled under an oppressive murderous regime, (like the Clintons) I’d like Iraq to come help. To light that shines on: apparently we disagree over the war in Iraq, and as a student studying to be a Wesleyan minister, certian theological concepts as well. But your post in noted, at least by me, and regardless of the non-essentials you are a brother/sister in Christ, and I see no reason to call you an idiot. You may want to note however that God does bring peace through war, even accomplished liberating a whole nation through death. (See Exodus) King Saul was punished for not killing everything in one of his famous battles. “There is a time for war, and a time for peace…” You know the reference. Jesus did not negate the OT, and spoke to us in a personal context. While at the same time, government authorities have a charge given them by God to protect their people and rule justly.
Well said apostle.
Ok, people. If you want to be ignorant, intolerant, and completely naive, keep on talking. I happen to also know Tom Fox, and he is a wonderful person with no desire to harm anyone. I completely agree with the Light that shines, and I personally know them. Please, continue in your inflammation of people’s anger. It will get you SO far in life. Right, keep on thinking that, and enjoy your short lives. Your comments are so outrageous, I just can’t believe your naivete. If you knew someone who has been abducted in Iraq, then you would never, and I mean NEVER say these completely insulting things. I am completely outraged, and you seriously need to get some sensitivity. How would you feel if one of your friends was in potential danger, and some complete strangers start badmouthing them? Especially if you know that person to have such integrity and kindness and compassion, which you seem to lack. You need to have a deeper understanding of these situations before you start assuming all this crap, being steryotipical, and selfish. Oil is the least of our concerns right now. If these peace activists weren’t in Iraq, I’m willing to bet that the situation there would be SO much more unstable, and foreigners would be shot on sight. You wouldn’t be able to get to your precious oil anyway. Besides, which is more important, a human life or a machine running on limited supplies that kill the ecosystem and help contribute to global warming and the end of life as we know it on Earth? Just tell me that. I don’t care what religion you are in, I happen to be an atheist, and whether you’re Christian, Quaker, Atheist, Jewish, Agnostic, etc., you should still care that people are dying by just trying to help. The military is NOT peaceful, they kill people, split up families, destroy people’s lives, and just destroy! I am completely against warfare, as it is SO unnecessary. We are all human, it doesn’t matter what color our skin is. This is religious intolerance, and should NOT be so nonchalantly passed over as if it’s just irrelevant and stupid. I am just so fed up with all of these completely ignorant and unfeeling comments. It’s just unacceptable. If you choose to just disregard my opinion, put yourself in my shoes. Imagine it’s someone extremely close to you in a life-threatening situation that lies in the hands of our, face it, incompetent president. How would you feel then? Just try to answer that. Try.
“Imagine it’s someone extremely close to you in a life-threatening situation that lies in the hands of our, face it, incompetent president. How would you feel then?”
If you are man or woman enough to make your own decisions and you decide to insert yourself into a dangerous situation, then be man or woman enough to accept the consequences of said decision.
You people refuse to be responsible for anything.
You want to deny the Creator and worship what He created instead, knock yourself out. Just don’t try selling me that lamebrain garbage.
You don’t want the truth, it is contrary to your delusions.
I’m not saying anything about accepting consequences. I’m saying that you just need to stop completely trashing our friend. “deny the Creator”??? That is your religious view, and you are only helping me to prove my point by showing your religious intolerance. And I’m not trying to “sell” you anything. I’m not attempting to convert you to Atheism or Quakerism or any other religion. And what is this about “You don’t want the truth, it is contrary to your delusions”? If you’re talking about the fact that Tom Fox is there to help, then you are the one that is being delusional. I’m completely positive that I have my facts straight and that he was there as a part of a peace activist group to help. If you instead choose to believe that the President and the military have this “under control” as you assume, then why don’t you just get your lazy butt over there to get shot? It seems that you are the one without the responsibility.
