Rosa Parks Dead At 92

Rosa Parks

Parks, 92, reportedly died around 7 p.m. Monday at St. John Hospital on Detroit’s east side.

Parks’ refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955 landed her in jail and sparked a bus boycott that is considered the start of the modern civil rights movement. The bus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn.

Parks, was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Ala. She lived in Detroit.Source

A true hero in the civil rights movement. This woman’s courage to face arrest for equality helped to spark a revolution that awakened America from judging someone on the basis of their skin color. She will go down in history as an individual that helped change the world for the better. This woman’s courage changed the course of history. May she rest in peace.

Cannukistan Chronicles says I have been way too kind, and that we’ve all been hoodwinked by the NAACP.

The example of Rosa Parks goes beyond the struggle for racial equality. For pure civil libertarians fighting dictatorships and tyrannical regimes, she proved that “people power” begins with the smallest minority–that of a single brave person.

I’m just wondering when ol’ Rosa’s death will be blamed on “whitey” and racism in general. Afterall, nothing bad ever happens to blacks that isn’t “whitey’s” fault, right?

It is interesting to think about the fact that we actually did not have laws that would have required Rosa Parks’ mother to abort her merely because she was black. Such laws would have been wrong, even if they would have made the world a better place in some ways. It is an interesting intellectual exercise to think about aborting black children. –Bill Bennett

Cannukistan, I don’t believe that for a minute. Many want you to believe we did not really go to the moon, Christ was a homosexual and martin Luther was sane. Until proven otherwise, I think of her as a hero!
As for the dork who is having a laugh at the expense of Bill Bennett, if you would read or listen to the comment he made in full context, you would feel as stupid as you sound!
La Shawn Barber, Rizalist, and others…. you are right on, keep up the great work ‘yall.

Any truth to the rumor that Rosa was not feeling well and went to the Dr. She was sitting in the waiting room and a white Dr. came out and asked her to get up and come with him. She said that she was not getting out of her seat for a white man and did not get medical attention and died.

    Just wanted to know.

You know what I find the saddest thing about all this? That we had to honor a dead woman for not getting up on a bus. How could this great country traet people like that? I would never expect a person to give up a seat because they are a different color. I would never take a seat while a lady had to stand. I know times have changed but how could we have been that ignorant as a society?

And she risked her life so that someday minorities would have the right to file lawsuits like this:
