Father Who Opposed Gay Tolerance Indoctrination for Kindergarten Class Faces Criminal Charges

Posted on October 20, 2005

Update: thanks to commenter kscott.

Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss the case against a Lexington father who refused to leave school property in a dispute over a kindergarten class discussion of homosexuality.

The deal struck with Parker and accepted by a judge today requires him remain on pre-trial probation for up to a year. If he’s not accused of any legal violations before then, the trespassing charge would be dropped.

Still don’t see if his child still has to go to the tolerance classes or not. I’m sure the school still doesn’t think its neccessary to inform the parents before the gay tolerance indoctrination.

Yesterday we reported how one Kindergarten class had censored one boy’s religious expression because it was Christian and might offend someone, while another school was teaching kids how to be Muslim. Well, yet another school, kindergarten no less, is teaching tolerance…..gay tolerance that is.

Homosexual activists are expected to show up today at the trial of a Massachusetts man arrested while attempting to secure a promise from school officials to notify parents before teaching about homosexuality in his son’s kindergarten class.

David Parker, who faces criminal prosecution by the town of Lexington, spent a night in jail in April and was charged with criminal trespassing after refusing to leave a scheduled meeting with officials at the Estabrook Elementary School.

Parker said he wouldn’t leave unless the officials agreed to provide parental notice of lessons about homosexuality and gave him the option of pulling his child out of the classes.

Parker’s situation has drawn national attention, and he was scheduled to appear on ABC’s “World News Tonight.”

An organized group of angry homosexual activists have come to nearly every one of Parker’s court hearings or public appearances to hold signs and attempt to intimidate him and his supporters, says a Massachusetts group supporting the parent, Article 8 Alliance. At a Sept. 6 event, Lexington police would not allow Parker to be interviewed by TV reporters because they feared violence would erupt.

The Superintendent of Schools, Paul Ash, has banned Parker from setting foot on all school property in the town, despite pleas from Parker and his lawyers, who argue he never has been considered a dangerous person.

A plea bargain was sought by the district attorney’s office Sept. 19, and Judge Robert McKenna postponed the trial for a month to give Ash more time to decide whether to lift the ban.

But this week, Ash informed Parker’s lawyers he does not intend to relent. On Sept. 22, Ash announced he was ordering all teachers not to notify parents when discussing homosexual relationships with schoolchildren.

The dispute began last spring when Parker’s then-5-year-old son brought home a book to be shared with his parents titled, “Who’s in a Family?” The optional reading material, which came in a “Diversity Book Bag,” depicted at least two households led by homosexual partners.

The illustrated book says, “A family can be made up in many different ways” and includes this text:

“Laura and Kyle live with their two moms, Joyce and Emily, and a poodle named Daisy. It takes all four of them to give Daisy her bath.”

Another illustrated page says:

“Robin’s family is made up of her dad, Clifford, her dad’s partner, Henry, and Robin’s cat, Sassy. Clifford and Henry take turns making dinner for their family.”

Parker complained to school officials, and at a scheduled meeting at Estabrook Elementary School April 27 with the principal and the town’s director of education, he was told an agreement could be reached.

But after the superintendent intervened via telephone, Parker abruptly was told that unless he left the meeting he would be arrested.

Parker insisted that an agreement be reached before he left, and school officials called police, who handcuffed him and brought him to jail, where he spent the night.

Parker also was ordered to keep off school grounds. He says he is not even permitted to pick up his own child from the school.

Meanwhile, Ash explained in a written statement on the controversy that the school district had no obligation to provide parental notification of such lessons because they are not about “human sexuality,” but rather about “tolerance and respect.”

This is happening in our children’s kindergarten classes folks! What has America come too? We can’t tolerate a child drawing a picture of Jesus out of fear it will offend someone, but they can teach them to be tolerant of gays, and how to be Muslims. Get your kids out of the public schools while you can. The indoctrination is preying upon the most elementary grades. They start indoctrination political correctness way too young these days. I really don’t think Kindergarten is the place to learn about human sexuality. It just double’s the insanity that this concerned father was arrested because he simply wanted notification. Insane, I tell you!!! Is this America????

So the homophobes want special rights to be immune from trespass laws?

  2. Gribbit on October 20th, 2005 9:55 am

Homophobes, that implies by definition of the latin root that there is a fear of man. But used in your context, the answer to your question is NO.

Listen moron, it is a matter of whether or not it is appropriate or not to teach this crap to Kindergarten students. In our opinion it isn’t.

You people have no standards. You people have no couth. And middle America is sick of people like you.

    Go away!

This is why private schools, especially “religious” private schools are growing so fast in America. The public school system is a joke.

“Parker said he wouldn’t leave unless the officials agreed to provide parental notice of lessons about homosexuality and gave him the option of pulling his child out of the classes.”

    That’s it? Funny.

Oh well, it is not like I expected any real substantial charges.

Here is the letter I sent the Superintendent of Schools, Paul Ash:

It is no wonder why more and more parents are home schooling their children. With liberal socialists like you, allowing schools to discuss gay issues with other peoples children is absolutely ridiculous. It should be this man’s right to decide if his child should learn about a divisive issue like this. Doesn’t he pay taxes? Shouldn’t he be heard? Oh no, how dare this “hateful person” speak his mind. You liberals are all the same.
“Listen to what I have to say and agree with me. I shall close my ears when you decide to speak.”

Sir, this is a religious issue and you are cramming your beliefs down our throats. I hope you are removed from your “top” position. You are no leader. You are a socialist, communist, liberal, progressive thug.

I have questions: why, oh why, was there only ONE parent arrested? Where were the other parents? Don’t people care about what is happening to our country? Since when has tolerance for deviant sexual behavior been part of the kindergarten curriculum? When will Americans wake up?

This is exactly why MY vote is with private school vouchers. The answer to the public school mess, is not to throw more money at it, so people like Paul Ash can be paid more. The answer is a complete overhaul of the system. The current paradigm is broken, it must be replaced. How many families must pull their kids out before the NEA or the teachers unions get the hint that their morally bankrupt system is nearing extinction?

And that doesn’t give a special right to be immune from trespass. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

Will do, you got the mailing address handy?

    ACTUS:

You are missing the point. They are using the law to stop him from speaking. He can’t even pick up his daughter at school. This is a classic example of liberal/socialists taking over.

It’s kind of funny too. As they want everyone to accept gays, they refuse to except any other view point that does not agree with them. How is that diversity?

Actus… is that spelled right or is it asshat? Anyway, a school is a public building where not only is his son registered as a student, but he pays taxes to fund. This is a poltical statement by a liberal school system. He wanted notified, he wasn’t and they were using a charge of tresspassing to silence him.

This is proven by the willingness of the prosecutor to agree to 1 year probation.

Facts are facts, that school is teaching an adult themed subject to a student who isn’t even old enough to ride an amuzement park ride on his own. We need to let children be children and responsible parents parent. Public schools are too overly eager to indoctrinate our young people into liberal thought. And this is proof that it is going too damned far.

Do you wanna battle me? I don’t think so fool. Now go away.

The prefix ‘homo’ comes from the Greek, meaning same, not the Latin, meaning man. A Homosexual desires those of the same sex. Otherwise, most women would be homosexuals. Just wanted to clear that up.

I dont see any crime committed so why should he do any time that is why asstus is a moron.

  21. Mike on October 21st, 2005 1:43 pm

my $.02 is that it is more insulting if you think that the schools does not trust the parents to instill the morals the parents want to teach the child. Let the parents handle the morals, and the school the math, and reading.
