100,000 back bill to curb ACLU

Hat tip NIF for pointing me to WND
O.K. Folks, we’ve got 18,000 signatures on our petition to stop taxpayer funding of the ACLU in support of Hostettler’s Freedom of Expression Bill. Looks like a larger organization has beaten us to the punch. Here’s the plan, one last push…I need your help…and we will deliver our petition at the same time as they do. We think this will increase the impact, and get this much needed legislation rolling. Lets get all of our names on their petition too.

A grass-roots group is mobilizing more than 100,000 Americans to urge Congress to pass a bill that would curb the ACLU by denying plaintiff attorneys the right to collect attorneys fees in lawsuits targeting religion in the public square.

The petition by the Center for Reclaiming America calls for “a stand against the ACLU’s radical agenda, which undermines our nation’s moral and religious heritage.”

The group says it already has 100,000 signatures and hopes to garner another 30,000.

The petition reads:

As a concerned citizen, I am taking a stand against the ACLU’s radical agenda, which undermines our nation’s moral and religious heritage. I join with citizens across the nation in protest of ACLU policies and actions to strip faith in God from the public square while promoting anti-family and pro-homosexual initiatives. I am calling on leaders in government and media to tell the truth about the ACLU’s radical agenda. Furthermore, I demand lawmakers take the necessary steps to eliminate the monetary motives behind the ACLU’s campaign to remove all mention of God from the public square. The ACLU does not represent me nor the vast majority of American citizens.

The legislation by Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind., would amend the Civil Rights Attorney’s Fees Act of 1976 to prohibit prevailing parties from being awarded attorneys fee in religious establishment cases but not in other civil rights filings.

Hostettler introduced a bill with identical language in 2003 to permit only injunctive relief in cases filed under the religious-establishment clause of the Constitution and to deny attorneys fees.

Although that bill failed in subcommittee, supporters are optimistic that the current offering will pass this session because of the more conservative makeup of the current Congress and escalating calls to curb an activist judiciary, particularly on religious matters.

With the help of WND, and Stop The ACLU, I think we can round up their 30,000 signatures. We’ve got 18,000 on our petition already. If you haven’t signed, sign both today!

I find the ACLU and their agenda totally offensive and morally corrupt.

  2. Devon Davis on October 12th, 2005 12:26 pm

Taxpayer funing of political organizations is wrong.

    The ACLU is anti American.

  5. Carol Pollard on October 12th, 2005 12:35 pm

The ACLU should be investigated under the RICO statute.

This is the only way to stop the
ACLU. As soon as they cannot fund
    later lawsuits by extorting local
governments they will grind to a halt.

I signed the petitions. Now that you are up and running. Can you tell me how to get one of your banners for my blog and how you want to appear on my blog roll? I just redesigned my blog look and commenting BTW.

Taxpayers should not be required to help fund the ACLU due to the fact the ACLU: (1) supports NAMBLA and their so called right to promote the rape of children while it (the ACLU) opposes the Boy Scouts right to stand up for traditional family values ; (2) Is Anti American and Pro Terrorist; and (3)Supports live public sex acts but is activly trying to suppress public religious expression.

  9. Jay on October 12th, 2005 4:31 pm

    Well said Lona.

  10. Anita Amos on October 12th, 2005 4:58 pm

thank God, yes God, you are doing something to stop this horrific group that want to allow all the dregs of society to have more rights than honest citizens to.

If those [edited] at the aclu want a fight, let it begin. They make their money off lawsuits. Let’s start suing them at every oppurtunity. Break them by doing to them what they do to others. Sue them into oblivion.

The problem with this bill is it makes it so only the rich can fight theocracy and establishment.

  16. ethel houck on October 13th, 2005 12:22 am

The ACLU is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. America, BEWARE!

  17. Scott Rossi on October 13th, 2005 1:56 pm

The ACLU needs to be stopped. As long as they continue their ways it will be the demise of this great nation of which they are trying to destroy.

  18. Carol on October 13th, 2005 7:59 pm

What a bunch of idiots. If you don’t believe in what they do-protect free speech etc., then don’t send them money. The ACLU is a nonprofit organizationdedicated to the protection of civil liberties period. Sometimes the civil liberties they are protecting are those of churches or individuals right to practice their religion. I realize they support unattractive groups but in reality what they are fighting is nto for the idologies embraced by those groups but a point of law that infringes on a civil liberty.

  19. Dethanial on October 13th, 2005 8:29 pm

Carol you have not studied the ACLU and if you would you would find that you are the idiot

Stand the hate-America, traitorous, The Enemy Within™, subhuman ACLU filth, against a wall, and **** them all, dammit!

I tried signing the petition on your blog (twice), but got a database (SQL) error page when I tried to submit it. Is it just my computer? Had no trouble with the other petition.

  22. Jay on October 13th, 2005 10:20 pm

I’m not having a problem. Hmmm…thanks for signing the one. Which one did you have a problem with?

  23. Bryan Cole on November 11th, 2005 1:44 am

The ALCU has made use of every loop-hole in our constitution and will continue to do so as long as the money keeps rolling in. I would not donate to the ALCU with my money, and I certainly do not want the government to put my tax dollars towards the ALCU either!!!

  24. Sharee on November 11th, 2005 10:40 pm

America was not born a Socialist Country. Neither were the founding fathers Socialists. It seems to me that the ACLU is trying to gather a socialist following under the screen of “defending the poor.”
What a sorry lot the ACLU is. We may be poor, but we are not stupid.
We may be old, and our eyes may be weak, but we can spot a facade when we see one. And the ACLU is most assuredly a facade dedicated to destroying the United States of America as a free country.
My money doesn’t belong to the ACLU. I would NEVER donate a penny to them and I sure don’t want tax dollars going to them.

  25. Leon Drennan on November 13th, 2005 10:38 am

Use of federal monies for the support of a group with such a blatant anti-American agenda is preposterous.

  26. antoinetb on November 16th, 2005 7:16 pm

lets take of this big problem

  27. KIM HAYES on December 1st, 2005 6:15 am

I WANT MY TAX MONEY SPENT ON THINGS THAT ARE NEEDED, NOT THE ACLU AND THIER ANTI AMERICAN AGENDA.

  28. Je'Naire Brown on December 3rd, 2005 12:33 am

It’s sad to see people turn their backs on God. People like this should be stopped.

  29. Barbara P on December 9th, 2005 7:55 pm

Tax Payers money should not help support the ACLU.

  30. Jerry Smith on December 10th, 2005 2:37 am

The ACLU is merely a political tool for the far left. Political endeavors should not be given tax exempt status.

  31. Kenny Boulton on December 14th, 2005 7:56 am

Relocate them out of the USA!

  32. Tim Mahoney on December 18th, 2005 3:43 pm

ACLU, the most destruction force of the America.

  37. Brian on March 20th, 2007 4:50 pm

I’m sickened by the things I’ve read…This scares me as a US citizen, I don’t want my country, my town to be taken over by these people.

  38. kathy on March 30th, 2007 12:18 am

    Ida,

I hope you get the chance to reap the the horrors that groups like the ACLU sow. Out of America of course

  39. Linda McGetrick on April 16th, 2007 8:17 am

I think organizations like this are destroying the fabric of our country. They need to be stopped by us concerned and educated Americans.

  40. David Woodkotch on July 10th, 2007 11:01 am

The ACLU’s tax payer funded fight against religion, and defense of terrorist detainees, among many other despicable acts make me sick.

  41. Kenny on October 21st, 2007 2:52 pm

The ACLU could be the good guys. Instead they seem to defend every thing, no matter how odious or perverse. That makes them, in my opinion, the bad guys.

  42. Debra on October 31st, 2007 6:25 pm

The NAMBLA is garbage and so is the ACLU for defending a case such as the one involving 10 yr old Jeffrey Curley.

  43. Cory Thompson on November 12th, 2007 12:42 pm

It’s obvious the ACLU is the tool of socialist propaganda. To stand with the ACLU is to stand with America’s enemies.

  44. Kristin V. on December 5th, 2007 6:23 pm

If we as American’s don’t stop them and stand for what is right the ACLU will try and control America and revise our history.Tell everyone you know to support the public expression of religion act of 2005.

  45. Kristin V. on December 5th, 2007 6:25 pm

ACLU is trying to change America. Let’s stand and do something about it.
