Terror Plot Was A Hoax
Posted on October 11, 2005
NEW YORK — The informant who sparked last week’s New York City subway threat alert has admitted it was a hoax, CNN reported Tuesday.
The network reported that the informant admitted providing false information.
The informant had claimed that al-Qaida operatives in Iraq were plotting to attack the city’s subways using baby strollers packed with remote-controlled explosives. The reported threat said the attacks could occur as early as last Friday.
Authorities said earlier the interrogation of three suspects arrested by U.S. forces in Iraq has so far produced no information to corroborate a possible threat.
New York City’s heightened subway security will slowly scale back to what it was before officials announced the supposed subway bombing threat last week.
Propaganda war I guess, but I still say better safe than sorry. I don’t think we can ever be too careful in this war. Many, such as the ACLU are at odds with techniques used by officials to protect citizens. Namely they oppose random searches. I understand the argument against them, being that it is unreasonable searches. However, in the politically correct climate in which we live, in combination to the dangerous times…we are really left with three choices. We can either discriminate in the searches; the argument here is why search little old grandmas, we can do nothing, or we can do random searches. Doing nothing to prevent these kinds of attacks is out of the question in my mind. That leaves two other options, both of which the politically correct will oppose. I say doing something is better than nothing.

Duh, no bombs going off should have been a clue. These guys don’t send notice….
I hope they prosecute anyone who causes a problem like that as a terrorist!
Iraqi informant says jump, and wingnuts say how high.
Because they just wanna believe so much.
What’s worse? Responding to a false alarm or not responding to a major attack?
Preventing terrorism is a no-win situation; the victories are invisible, the defeats obvious.
I know which way I’d rather ‘lose’.
“What’s worse? Responding to a false alarm or not responding to a major attack?”
Why do you insist on this dichotomy?
Does anyone really think these terrorists are stupid? They watch our news. They know that everytime the government takes a stand to protect us the ACLU goes running to court to counter the measures put into place. They wanted us to step up the security to add to the ACLU’s fire in court. And we fell for it.
Hoax or not, we cannot allow them to win. Them, the ACLU/terrorist connection.
