Rage Against The Machine
Posted on October 7, 2005
What we are fighting is a money machine.
Headquartered in New York City, the ACLU has 53 staffed affiliates in major cities, more than 300 chapters nationwide, and a legislative office in Washington, D.C. The ACLU Foundation (ACLUF) is the national tax-deductible, 501(c)(3) arm of the ACLU. Its combined annual budget is approximately $45 million. The bulk of the annual budget is raised by contributions from individual members — 275,000 strong — plus grants from foundations.ACLU Website
The excerpt above was from June 28, 1999. They now brag to have over 400,000 members. So they obviously have many Americans fooled. I don’t feel like doing the math, but you can imagine if they raised $45 million with 275,000 members what they could do with 400,000.
They are an 85 year old organization, being founded in 1920, so they have a huge head start on other, more conservative civil liberties groups. They have an 84 year head start on us.
I’m frustrated and exhausted in this fight. I put my everything into every day. Our support base has grown substantially with over 115 blogs doing our blogburst and an average of about 1,000 visits a day, but we still have a long ways to go. Right now, we are a little puppy yapping at the moon. They don’t even know we are here. All we can do right now is expose them for what they are, and preach to the choir.
Folks, this place is supposed to be more than just a blog, it is supposed to be a real grassroots movement, so we’ve got to motivate you to get involved. We have to expand and reach out, recruit others to the movement. Everyday this money machine goes to war with America’s moral fabric, fighting for the enemy, pedophiles, and anything that goes along with its liberal agenda for America; and they have the funds to be successful in it.
I don’t know about you folks, but I’m sick of it! I’m frustrated and exhausted in this fight, so I’m challenging all of you to do something about it. This is a team here, and you readers and supporters are what makes it work. Without you, we would be nothing. So get involved somehow with us.
Here is a few challenges for you all.
Recruit more supporters. If you have family members who feel the same way, or friends, tell them about us. Tell your email list about us.
We want your input. Tell us your ideas on effective ways we can fight the ACLU, build our support base, and organize our movement. Join our discussion forum.
Donate! There is no way we can ever effectively fight a money machine without money. We are currently trying to reach others by raising money for an ad in the Washington Times. We would also love to advertise in other places. The first step in making our movement successful is to build our base and reach new supporters. I’m not expecting to get anywhere close to the ACLU’s funding at this time, that would be unrealistic. We have had several of you donate already, and that is appreciated so much. Some of you gave quite a bit. We’ve had several $50 donations and one $250 donation. Our short term goal is $2500.00 and thanks to all of you we are almost half way there now at $12200.00. I hate to ask for money, but how else can we truly fight this organization to any kind of significant effect?
We want to build this to be an effective grassroots effort. Support us however you can. If you have an extra $5, know it will be going to a worthy cause. If you gave last month, give again this month. None of this money is going into anyone’s pocket, it will all be used to advertise to find more supporters and further expose the radical agenda of the ACLU. I give this blog my everything everyday, often neglecting family time, and work. I know that this fight is the right thing to do, and I put my heart into it, but often I feel like the fight is as futile as trying to catch the wind. This movement is nothing without you and your support. So if you truly believe in this cause, get involved. Find more supporters, get them to sign the petition to stop taxpayer funding of the ACLU, see how to get your Church involved, become a State Coordinator, and consider a donation from time to time to the cause. $5 a month isn’t a lot of money, but think about it, with 1,000 readers a day…if each and everyone of those readers gave $1 we would reach our goal. Lets make this fight for real folks. Lets make this more than a blog you visit, lets make it a revolution. Lets Stop The ACLU.
Goal: $2500.00
Current: $1,270.00

I have an idea. Let’s start an email campaign to get Michelle Malkin to list you on her blogroll. It must be coordinated, too. Imagine her email filling in one hour with 115+ emails with the subject line “Stop the ACLU” and the body reading “Please add Stop the ACLU to your blogroll”.
“They now brag to have over 400,000 members. So they obviously have many Americans fooled.”
400 thou? Compare that to the number of Americans who belong to various Christian denominations, all for no palpable reason. At least the ACLU can identify extant friends and foes; all Christianity has to anchor it to Earth is an erratic text jammed with silly (and often stolen) legends, a string of old, mostly dead popes, pro-mechanized-corpse rallies in Florida, and Pat Robertson.
Think about this. We’re talking about well over 100 *million* supposedly sentient humans lulled into forking over their money and their minds for the sake of an ancient, hate-filled amalgam of fairy tales. The ACLU has a long way to go if it hopes to compete with this scam.
“A little puppy yapping at the moon” is dead on, by the way. Right down to not only the tone but the spelling and grammar.
