Reid Will Say No To Roberts
Posted on September 20, 2005
WASHINGTON — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid announced Tuesday that he intends to oppose confirmation of John Roberts as chief justice of the Supreme Court.
“I intend to cast my vote against the nomination when the Senate meets here next week,” Reid said on the Senate floor.
“For me, Mr. President, this is a very close question. But I must resolve my doubts in favor of the American people, whose rights would be in jeopardy if John Roberts turns out to be the wrong person for this job,” he said.Fox News
Not really suprising, but thought you would all like to know. Kennedy will also pander to their moveon.org base. Reporters caught him in the hall on his way to get his afternoon drinks, and asked him. I have no doubt that Leahy and several other democrats will too, but my prediction is that he will be confirmed. You really can’t expect the very ones grilling him the most to vote yes on someone they fear might overturn a court decision that legalizes baby killing. I also think that we haven’t seen anything yet. The ugly fight is coming soon with the O’Connor replacement. Who do you think Bush will appoint? Who do you hope he will appoint?
