Instapundit Plays The Victim

Posted on September 1, 2005

I hope this is the last posting I have to do about this. The fact that we delinked link farmer, “I am a victim” Reynolds seems to have gotten several in the blogosphere all in a tizzy. I don’t know what the big deal is. It’s my blogroll, and my business who I want to link to. Anyone else that delinked made up their own mind.

Glenn decided it was a big enough deal to link to it, and I guarantee that not so many people would have joined up on that blogroll if he hadn’t. I’m not trying to make some huge statement of any kind. I am simply delinking someone that I no longer wish to read.

There were many other issues that I disagreed with him on such as his stance on abortion, cloning, gay marraige, and drug legalization. So it wasn’t just over one issue. That was just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Here is the issue I had a problem with:

Glenn says:

BOOKS LIKE THIS ONE ON THE ACLU, which I just got in the mail, are probably no worse than the myriad of hatchet jobs done in the past on, say, the NRA or (more recently) the Federalist Society. But I think that demonizing the ACLU is a bit silly. I do feel that they’ve become overly partisan in recent years, but they still do good work (I’ve worked with them in the past, on the New Orleans rave case for example, and will probably do so again.)

So he just got it in the mail, and it is already a hatchet job. You can pretty much see that he is accusing Alan Sears of bias in the book, but how can he conclude this if he just got the book in the mail. He couldn’t.

This brings me to another thing I don’t like about his site. He gives no forum for debate. You want to talk to him you can email him, and he will ignore as he wishes. He doesn’t even provide trackbacks. Even Michelle Malkin has trackbacks.

So it really isn’t about disagreeing with one issue, I’m linked to several sites I disagree with often. I have sent Glenn many links that offered questionable actions by the ACLU, and he has linked to none of them. He decided to link to my post about delinking him.

INDC, and Volokh also asked me to delink them, because they agree with Glenn. One big difference between their sites and Glenn’s site however is…they have comments and trackbacks. They offer a forum for debate.

So, if Glenn cares, I will offer my comment section here for him to debate us on the ACLU. I would actually love to see a debate between him and Alan Sears, giving Alan a chance to defend his book. I will try my best to arrange that if Glenn is willing. So, if Glenn wants to come on over, and debate us, I will find a new respect for him.

I don’t have a problem with you working with the ACLU because they do “some good”. While you are there see if you can reform their position on the second amendment. What I have a problem with is smearing someone’s books without sufficient proof to back up your claims. Anyway, I’m offering you an opportunity to back your claims up, right here in my comments…since you don’t have any. That is if you don’t think you are too important to stoop to the level of using a comment section.

Yeah those Liberals and ACLU supporters have a big butt wedgie over this. Its no big frigging deal. He spews garbage, we simply are refusing to support him, and promote his cause. This is as opposed to Liberal blogs where you say one word of discontent with the lock step agenda, and your completely BANNED. This is not the case here as Glenn can still stop by and tell us a story or two, if he had any balls.

I have written a follow-up to my earlier article about this issue. Again, if you have any corrections or clarifications, please let me know. You should also be getting a trackback from me as well.
