All In A Day’s Work For The ACLU

Posted on July 23, 2005

Rightwing Nuthouse has an excellent article today.

The anti-American left has for the time being, at least, been denied a brand new dog and pony show featuring close up pictures and graphic videos of detainees being abused at Abu Ghraib. In a move sure to bring wails of anguish from the moonbats, the Pentagon has refused to turn over the materials to the plaintiffs in the FOIA case on the Abu Ghraib investigation. Plaintiffs in the suit include the ACLU, Veterans for Peace, Veterans for Common Sense, and Physicians for Human Rights - you know, organizations whose job it is to keep the American public “informed.” Curiously, the organizations who really do have the responsibility to keep Americans informed - the press - did not join in the ACLU suit.

Iowa Voice says -

The Defense Department is absolutely, 100% correct to disobey this order, and they should take it all the way to the Supreme Court, if need be.

If nothing happened at Abu Ghraib, why not release the information so that the Bush administration can make the ACLU look foolish?

    Off-topic comment:

I like the new design. It seems that a lot of people were busy while I was away from blogging. I have completed my redesign as well. Be sure to stop by and let me know what you think. I should be around on Fri. for the chat.

    Kevin

has anyone said “nothing” happened at Abu Gharib? Obviously, since the military was investigating it 2 months prior to the MSM “breaking story” (and also way after the Pentagon also informed the MSM of the investigation) some “things” did happen.

And people have been convicted of same.

But you know, not all evidence is allowed into the public realm when it’s deemed prejudicial.

Even defense attorneys are under strict statute NOT to share information they receive under discovery publicly or, in certain circumstances, even with their own clients.

I’d say that these pics fall right into that category.

Kevin’s comments hit the nail on the head, as does Rightwing Nuthouse’s statement from the post: “the organizations who really do have the responsibility to keep Americans informed - the press - did not join in the ACLU suit.”

There is no public service performed by publishing more Abu Ghraib photos, but there is a demonstrable negative effect on our war efforts. This is the true goal of the ACLU; to defeat the U.S. in the war against terrorism, and terrorist nations.
