Sunday Stupid: 9/11 Debris Field Mosque And NY Times Columnists
Happy Sunday! I had every intention this morning to write about a different topic. Perhaps about illegal immigration or climate creationism. Or, about a lost blind, deaf, 3 legged dog being found. Or, how about France surrendering to driftwood? Alas, I made the mistake of typing nytimes.com in my browser bar, then clicking the “Opinion” hyperlink. I really should have known better. Because first is the Idiot known as Frank Rich: How Fox Betrayed Petraeus. After a recitation of Left Wing talking points, we get
Here’s what’s been lost in all the screaming. The prime movers in the campaign against the “ground zero mosque” just happen to be among the last cheerleaders for America’s nine-year war in Afghanistan. The wrecking ball they’re wielding is not merely pounding Park51, as the project is known, but is demolishing America’s already frail support for that war, which is dedicated to nation-building in a nation whose most conspicuous asset besides opium is actual mosques.
So, it’s all your fault that Obama’s war is seeing tanking approval. It couldn’t have anything to do with a rising death toll and his 1 year and done plan, could it? Nope, gotta be the mosque.
So virulent is the Islamophobic hysteria of the neocon and Fox News right — abetted by the useful idiocy of the Anti-Defamation League, Harry Reid and other cowed Democrats — that it has also rendered Gen. David Petraeus’s last-ditch counterinsurgency strategy for fighting the war inoperative. How do you win Muslim hearts and minds in Kandahar when you are calling Muslims every filthy name in the book in New York?
Islamophobia? Check. Neocon? Check? Fox News? Check. You are all to blame for any Afghanistan failures for being against this “cultural center.”The rest of the unhinged op-ed goes exactly the way you think it would.
Let’s move on to woo woo woo woo woo hey Mo! Dowd: Going Mad in Herds
The country is having some weird mass nervous breakdown, with the right spreading fear and disinformation that is amplified by the poisonous echo chamber that is the modern media environment.
The dispute over the Islamic center has tripped some deep national lunacy. The unbottled anger and suspicion concerning ground zero show that many Americans haven’t flushed the trauma of 9/11 out of their systems — making them easy prey for fearmongers.
If you guessed that the entire thing is an emotional polemic, have yourself another mug of grog (too early for tequila). But, hey, Mo says to just freakin’ move on from that 9/11 thing, ‘taint no thing. She also goes on to mention Rush Limbaugh and how he calls Obama “Imam Obama,” proving once again how easy he can tweak liberal noses, since they don’t get it. Even when explained to them that it is meant to tweak liberal noses. But, hey, you folks against the Cordoba Project are all lunatics and fear mongers. Always a good thing to call over 60% of the American population names, eh? Humorously, Mo includes this
As Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.”
Perhaps she should read her own op-ed, and alert Frank Rich. Or the not to be outdone Nicholas Kristof: Taking Bin Laden’s Side
Is there any doubt about Osama bin Laden’s position on the not-at-ground-zero mosque?
Osama abhors the vision of interfaith harmony that the proposed Islamic center represents. He fears Muslim clerics who can cite the Koran to denounce terrorism.
It’s striking that many American Republicans share with Al Qaeda the view that the West and the Islamic world are caught inevitably in a “clash of civilizations.” Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born cleric who recruits jihadis from his lair in Yemen, tells the world’s English-speaking Muslims that America is at war against Islam. You can bet that Mr. Awlaki will use the opposition to the community center and mosque to try to recruit more terrorists.
In short, the proposed community center is not just an issue on which Sarah Palin and Osama bin Laden agree. It is also one in which opponents of the center are playing into the hands of Al Qaeda.
So, if you are against the Cordoba Project, you are now on the same side as Osama and the Islamist jihadis. Raise your hand if you think Nicky has been getting larger than normal hate mail since that screed was published yesterday, and will be getting even more once people who get the print edition get to the Opinion section, as all three op-ed’s were meant for Sunday publication. Nothing like comparing over 60% of Americans to Osama.
Today’s crusaders against the Islamic community center are promoting a similar paranoid intolerance, and one day we will be ashamed of it.
I won’t. How about you? No? Alright, then. Here are the facts for you idiot liberal supporters……you know what? Forget it. The 60% percent of Americans who are against the mosque being built two blocks away from Ground Zero, in a building that was actually hit by debris, know what the deal is. Yes, a tiny, tiny percent are unhinged in their anti-mosque opinions. That’s life. Most know what the deal is: we understand that they have the right to build it there, but, we wish they wouldn’t. If the people, such as Imam Rauf, were truly interested in building bridges, reaching out, healing, etc, they would have long ago understood that building the center at that spot was a Bad Idea. Obviously, after all the furor, they do not care, which puts their motives into question.
It goes without say that Mo, Frank, and Nicky are Al Franken’s kind of people, namely, lying liars who tell lies. These supposed “intellectual betters” have to assign motives that do not exist over what is not a complicated issue. They must continuously reframe their arguments, because to say “hey, we think America is mean and evil, and caused 9/11, so, hey, let’s put a big Islamic center right near Ground Zero” is not really a winning argument. So, they use their typical emotional based screeds. Liberals usually can’t tell their real positions, as they are mostly highly unpopular among the American People.

Of course I saw a discussion between a conservative and a librul on Fox News yesterday. You know, the Fox News that only allows conservatives on the air. Anyway the librul stated that to oppose the mosque in any fashion was “insane”.
Now it was a terrible thing for me to realize that 60% to 70%, depending on the poll, of my fellow citizens and I were starkers. How will they build an asylum that large in the short time neeeded to confine us, with super stimulus money one supposes. Libruls, protecting the world from the insane majority. Good luck in the election, you mutts.
“So, it’s all your fault that Obama’s war is seeing tanking approval. It couldn’t have anything to do with a rising death toll and his 1 year and done plan, could it? Nope, gotta be the mosque.”
Or, perhaps the over 40 golf games he’s played while the bodies come home or the endless vacations, or the basketball games or the taxpayer-financed rock concerts at the White House, or the endless fundraising while the country burns or…?
This mosque project is bad news, not just for America but for anybody whose country lost victims to the Islamonazi bombers.
The imam behind it is no moderate. Before Obama went into grovel mode, the imam had told the world that such obeisance was exactly what was needed.
Who cares if 60% (or 100%) of Amerikkans don’t like something? That is why we have a Constitution – so you rubes don’t get all scared and frightened about some brown person (or in your case, The Black Man in the White House). Who cares what you frightened Tea Baggers think? Find your backbone. Find your patriotism. You are showing the world exactly what we have become – little schoolchildren hiding under our desks. What a bunch of wimps. And to think the GOP used to be the party of John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln, etc…They would all be ashamed of your bigotry.
Say, rat, you sound like a real tough comments commando. What branch were you in, warrior boy? And our beloved Presidente is half white. AS you say, that’s the bad half?
“So, they use their typical emotional based screeds.”
And what, exactly, is your screed based on, William? I cannot see a single sustained argument for anything in your rant, and your opposition to building the mosque is based on exactly … what? Why exactly do you think it is a bad idea?
Apart from appeal to emotions, it is really unclear what else can be found in this rant apart from the predictable fallacies. One example: you present a longer quote, to which you make the following comment: “So, if you are against the Cordoba Project, you are now on the same side as Osama and the Islamist jihadis.” Read the quote again – nowhere in the cited text is your conclusion suggested or even implied. What you are doing here, William, is called strawman reasoning. The quote states that many Americans engage in the same kind of rhetorics as some of the radical islamists, not that they are, in any way, as bad as the terrorists or on the terrorists’ side. It isn’t very hard to find support for this claim (remember William Boykin, anyone, to pick a rather glaring example?)
In fact, it is rather clear that you are among the people engaging in this kind of rhetoric yourself, William. Why else would you care about the issue? Why would you feel that it is somehow wrong to build a mosque at this site, unless you assume that islam in general rather than individual radical muslims are implicated in 9/11? The rest of us do not see the war on terror as a war against Islam, but as a war on, well, certain radical islamists, and we don’t connect Islam in general with 9/11. And if 60 % of Americans are of this opinion, then, well … (unless some of them have Hitchen-style opinions against building any form of religion-related institutions there, be they Muslim, Christian, Wiccan or anything else).
Above, you also sum up another quote by “You are all to blame for any Afghanistan failures for being against this “cultural center.”” No. Try read that quote again, William.
As a matter of fact, I agree that the NY Times opinion piece is a pure polemical rant. The ironic thing, William, is that you respond to it by a rant which is even more emotional, fallacy-prone, and purely polemic. Next time, I suggest you try reason and rationality.
Not that mental-midget Jon Stewart would figure it out, but for a private Saudi to make a stock purchase of News Corps. has little to do with the government. News Corps’s buying into the Saudi media environment, however, is a good move as it is jammed with Al-Jazeera Hamas-Hezbollah agitprop of the same sort that the NYT promotes with Rich & Kristof. The Saudis hate Hamas, a Sunni offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood just like CAIR is and al-Rauf’s camel’s-nose-under-the-tent Cordoba terrorist theme Park51 project. And the Saudis despise the Shi’ite Hezbollah, who are an Iranian fifth column in Lebanon, Bahrain, and allied with other Shi’ite movements in Turkey, Syria, Azerbaijan, and Chechnya.
Rich has morphed from a failed-theater critic who mistakes comedy for tragedy into a cloud-cuckoo political commentator who leaves out entire clumps of characters [Mad Howie Dean, e.g.] and plot-lines [Al-Rauf’s hostile overseas interviews & speeches in Arabic versus his soothing blandishments to his simple-minded core audience. Comfort food for the Upper West Side elites nourished on NYT Op-Ed cartoons so cliched and simple that even these overpaid morons can comprehend them.
On the other hand, every sensible Dem, hardhat Union Member, and independent who has taken the time to think through having a Muslim-Brotherhood sleeper-cell covert Ikhwan asset like Al-Rauf and his aide-de-camp Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR, another fellow-traveller of MB, remain as DNC allies and kumbayeh partners has figured this out. Not even Harry Reid and Crazy Howie Dean are buying into this scam….., a fact omitted by the political commissar Frankula Rich or his liberal-fascist editors….
Rich should look up the word taqiyya in his google and wiki Lexus-Nexus. I think he wants to remain deceived and his suspension of disbelief matches his fellow NYT dunce-oped dancing partner Nicky Kristof’s ignorant naivete.
I’m waiting for some politician to state the obvious. We’re still at war with Muslim radicals, moderate Muslims have been virtually powerless to suppress the most radical members of their own religion, many mosques have been and are expected to be used for radicalizing younger members of the Muslim faith, therefore… they can build their mosque anywhere they want after the war is over. Until then I don’t want another mosque built because they are all potential recruiting places, disinformation centers, and potentially could result in the deaths of innocent American civilians and soldiers while we’re still at war.
GD: here is the meat of the quote you cite as the chaff for William’s “straw man” reasoning: “In short, the proposed community center is not just an issue on which Sarah Palin and Osama bin Laden agree. It is also one in which opponents of the center are playing into the hands of Al Qaeda.”
What is the author saying outright? One of the Right’s leading figures agrees with bin Laden. That on it’s face is a falsehood and William calls it out.
In your haste to spread the astroturf putdown of our resistance to the mosque, you overlook one of Islam’s key principles for waging jihad— teqiyah, the telling of lies to advance Islam. And that is what Rauf is doing. That is what his wife is doing. That is what helps al Qaeda, not Sarah Palin and me resisting this “mosque” being built at Ground Zero. (I dont recall Ground Zero excluding real estate that was hit by pieces of the plane….Ground Zero is a symbolic demarcation of the 9/11 attacks…people weren’t having picnics and lattes at the Coat Factory watching the planes hit, Bubski).
Building bridges doesn’t get done by manipulative provocations in order to call the opposition racists and bigots. Pure and simple. Putting one’s opponents into the kind of pressure cooker of building that mosque on a graveyard built by Muslim Brotherhood radicals allied with al Qaeda, is not about building bridges….at best it is an abusive attempt to use the Muslim conquest of Spain to symbolize the 9/11 attacks. Our resistance to that isn’t bigoted anymore than it is for a child to listen to their parents and not accept candy from a Democrat not wearing any pants. That’s discrimination, you would cry….the man is just trying to be nice.
We know better.
Now take your troll backside back to MoveOn.org and tell George the Self-Hating Jew that you’ve failed. BTW, the left is the group that parrot’s al Qaeda talking points more often than not. And to prove this, doesn’t take 5 paragraphs of condescending liberal prose—- just listen to the youtubes of American Al Qaeda fop Adam Gaha—whatever his name is.
Ding! Round over. Next.

PREDICTION: (right after Barry Marshall Davis was elected President in Name Only i said that it would come out that he is Muslim and that he would go so far as to convert…..we are halfway there. self-identified homosexual leftists on the blogosphere mocked me for days over that one. well here is another one.) this mosque building snafu is the highwater mark of the jihad against the USA because it has awakened the sleeping giant about Islam— and the tide will now turn for good against Barry Marshall Davis’s policies domestically because he has been very clear he sides with Islamic Jihadists and the NarcoTrafficante government of Mexico against his own people…..in the same month he has managed to say this himself “Let me be clear…” We get it Barry. Now go swim in the poop and pretend you are rich staying in that $50,000 retreat on Martha’s Vineyard.
I repeat: “The tide has turned against Jihad in America with the calloused call for building a Muslim PigPen at Ground Zero. Sooieeee!”
