America’s Confusion about the Muslim Obama Explained
Rush Limbaugh recalled for us a 2007 NYT article by Nicholas Kristof that might explain a lot of the confusion among Americans as to what religion Obama is. If 20% of us think that Chairman Zero is Muslim, perhaps this is the proportion of us who read and/or remembered Kristof’s article. A wee excerpt:
Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”
Moreover, Mr. Obama’s own grandfather in Kenya was a Muslim. Mr. Obama never met his grandfather and says he isn’t sure if his grandfather’s two wives were simultaneous or consecutive, or even if he was Sunni or Shiite. (O.K., maybe Mr. Obama should just give up on Alabama.)
According to Rush, the full Obama interview with Kristof, which once upon a time appeared on a blog, has been “disappeared.” But that’s OK, since in Islam, one is born Muslim in the father’s lineage, and, well, that’s that.
Still skeptical? We also have it on video:
The American public is understandably, as they say in France, un peu confus. Perhaps the main question is why does Obama continue to flee from his birth faith? America is, after all, a nation blessed with religious freedom. Perhaps our president is trying to hide something else. For example, since faith should always come first, does The One possibly have more respect for his birth faith than he does for his own birth nation? [Now, let's not confuse the matter, birthers... ]

One Response to “America’s Confusion about the Muslim Obama Explained”

I believe this passage may have been in one of his books, but Obama mentioned that in situations where Muslims were at odds with Americans, he’d choose to side with Islam.
And also, if Jeremiah Wright is a Christian, then I’m a brain surgeon. I have yet to hear a message of love or forgiveness from him. Instead, he seems to be rather contemptuous of his country and his fellow man, both of whom enable him to live very comfortably in his new house in a tony section of Chicago.
